I scheduled a morning breakfast meeting recently at Juniper. I chose this location for their proximity to a downtown conference and their great ratings on Yelp. Was not disappointed. We were seated promptly, the service was attentive, and the food selection great. If you're thinking about a nice meeting/meal where you can hear the other person easily, this is a very nice option.
Great food, service and atmosphere as always. Love it!
There is a lot to like about this restaurant. They have a great range of wines by the glass so everyone can get something nice for the type of meal ordered. The wait staff are friendly and provide a high level of service. One main was lamb chops which were cooked exactly as ordered. They were good but not exceptional and not that tender. They did come with a wonderful array of fresh vegetables. The highlight was the scallop main course. The scallops and flavours were out of this world. It is one of those must-order dishes.
Always excellent service, wonderful food, enough space between tables to have a private conversation.
I suppose the Juniper as a hotel restaurant justifies its high prices and poor service. Our waiter was pleasant but had too many tables and was too rarely seen. Food not good for its high price. Won't return
best breakfast buffet in town - great selections and great price
Went to visit Georgetown. It was a hotel restaurant. Large prices for in my opinion substandard food that I could have got at an Applebee’s. I would not recommend. Definitely not what was advertised. The photos are in no way accurate. Would not go back.
The pasta was excellent. My BF has the Halibut and it was ok. Very very slow for a Saturday night. They tried to seat us in a spot that was in the middle of a walkway when there was PLENTY of open tables. They kept trying to seat people there after us, but no one wanted to sit there. Not sure why it was so important to put people at that specific table.
We enjoyed Juniper for a small family reunion. The restaurant does have good Paleo diet options, yet there was also something for everyone including some wonderful fresh cheeses for those of our group who preferred that. There are no gluten free breads. But that was okay for our group -- some of our group prefer Paleo and they found the offerings to be delightful and met their requests. The warm Mediterranean olives were fabulous. The entree salads were fresh and enticing. A halibut dish was cooked to perfection. The service was wonderful, warm, inviting and helpful. Overall, we loved it.
Unfortunately, we did not have a wonderful experience. We had some specific requests when ordering the food - NO salt, poached eggs were to be soft not medium or hard. Server specifically asked that question. Food was extremely salty, and eggs were hard, not to mention that the food was not hot. Not a place that I would recommend or suggest to a friend. It is too bad since it is attached to such a nice hotel the Fairmont.
Great service. Food ok. Expensive.
We were in DC for the weekend, and met dear friends for breakfast. The server (Oscar) was excellent, making all our dietary requests look easy. The coffee hot and served with real cream, the mimosa’s nicely balanced. The breakfast eggs were over easy, as asked, with the best home fries I have had in a while....simply broiled Idaho spuds, crisp, golden, and perfect......no adulteration....
Eggs Benedict made the old school way, very good, and tasty. I think what I appreciated the most is that the staff paid attention to multiple requests and followed through with it. I had meals at two other high end hotels this weekend and the Food and Beverage people were just terrible. The Fairmont hotel and the Juniper staff made a concerted effort to please and it was greatly appreciated. This was the nicest hotel breakfast I have had in a while. Kudos to the Fairmont.
The place was closed for renovations and the app did not let us know we had to eat at a new location which turned out to be not very good ! Very unhappy that the app didn’t notify us of the closer!
Juniper (at the Fairmont Hotel) is an excellent choice for dinner, and a real stand-out in the West End and environs. A nice varied menu of fresh food prepared very well. The service is friendly and very professional. The room is stylish, comfortable and quiet. While it lacks the Michelin star of Blue Duck, its neighbor across the street, it provides a comparable experience. Only the prices at Juniper are 20-30% lower and you can easily get a table, as it's an undiscovered sleeper. With France's Accor Group (Sofitel) taking over Fairmont, things at Juniper are only going to get even better. As we live in neighboring Georgetown, we will be repeat customers.
Juniper is physically located inside the Fairmont Hotel in Washington, but the food does not live up to Fairmont's usual standards of excellence. I ordered scrambled eggs and what I received would have been passable from the buffet breakfast at an Embassy Suites, but for $35 one expects to be able to say more than "it was edible." I'm not a scrambled egg gourmet (if there is such a thing), but McDonald's or any breakfast place would have been a better value.
Wonderful as always just wonderful. Again, wonderful wonderful
Service is poor, over priced, on line says breakfast buffet but when we got there they said that is not offered no longer.
Excellent place to eat.
We enjoyed our dinner very much. The lamb was cooked perfectly as was the red snapper. The snapper was also nicely seasoned. We were impressed with the elegant ambiance and it was especially nice that we could have a quiet conversation.
Very nice as it always is we can’t wait to come back there
Food was delicious. I ordered a salad (forgot which one) and it was colorful and good. It looked almost too pretty to eat. Atmosphere was relaxing. Staff was professional and nice.
Excellent food and service. Only complaint was hostess who was on the phone for over five minutes while we waited and didn’t even apologize for the wait when she got off.
the service was bad. Two times tried to order gibson, and they brought gimlet instead. The food is very mediocre.
Went for breakfast and, after waiting 30 minutes for a bagel and chicken sausage with oatmeal, the bagel was over toasted and looked like the.small bagels bought in the frozen section at the grocery store. Sausage tasted like jerky.
It took the waiter over 25 mins to serve us / come by to take our order.
Very ordinary in food quality. Short ribs were mushy and non-distinct. Lamb chops were over cooked.
Valentine Day was very great time with the friendly service and the good food. We will come again back.
Wonderful service!!! Delicious food and so nice and quiet and relaxing.
Really nice restaurant with friendly people working there, we were glad we picked it before going to the Kennedy Center.
Had a very pleasant Christmas Dinner. Good food, great professional service provided by Oscar, our server, and a nice ambiance.
Was very nice as usual! The menu was different then last year, the lamb was very good along with the salads we tasted. The wine list was lovely and I also Love the honey bee cocktails. Service as always was the best we find in DC when we visit. Made the evening very enjoyable.
We were happy to return to Juniper on our visit to Washington, DC. The crab cakes were tasty and this was a generous sized appetizer and therefore great for sharing. The other appetizer for our table was grilled octopus with a pretty and flavorful paprika aioli. My salmon with lentils was perfect with a crispy finish and delicate interior. My desert was a stand-out with sweet corn ice cream with a garnish of crunchy freeze dried corn kernels, a small piece of spoon bread and then a small pyramid of basil and black pepper pannacotta.
The food was excellent, very comfortable surroundings and perfect service.
Our overall experience was disappointing. Juniper is the flagship restaurant of The Fairmont Georgetown, and says it features local farm-to-table selections. Menu options were fairly limited. I had the Applewood smoked hanger steak, and it was fine, but very heavy on the 'smoke' and not especially delicious. The 'chorizo polenta' was exceptionally mushy and almost flavorless. My husband did enjoy his lamb chops. The food was surprisingly lukewarm.
We were the only diners for the first half hour, so it wasn't as if the kitchen was overwhelmed. We also had spotty service. The server was friendly, but seemed inexperienced. He decimated the cork when opening the $100 bottle of wine we ordered - and as the cork disintegrated, he apologized and said he'd take it back for another. Then returned moments later saying he'd managed to remove the cork...and poured for us - Chateauneuf du Pape - WITH bits of cork. Yes, we could have sent it back. We felt bad for our flustered server and fished out the cork ourselves.
As we were staying at The Fairmont, the restaurant was convenient and the management was welcoming. However, I would not choose to return.
The meals were perfect! The snapper was perfectly cooked with just a touch of heat from the jalapeno. The chicken was anything but boring: Cannellini Bean & Pancetta Cassoulet , Baby Zucchini & Patty Pan Squash and pan jus make the plate perfectly delicious! The portions were so generous that we neither finished our dinner nor had room for dessert. Victor was attentive without hovering, as always!
Juniper never fails. My favorite place for a quiet meal. Great salmon. Pricey wine though.
Great restaurant and great service.
Thank You for the Birthday Dessert
The food was not very good quality at all. 2 orders of pancakes, a side of chicken sausage and a side of potatoes for $60. I am a pancake fanatic and connoisseur and the pancakes were less than acceptable. They lacked fluffiness and we’re supposed to be buttermilk but they tasted like pancakes you might buy frozen at a grocery store and defrost in the microwave. Extremely disappointing. The food was room temperature and the potatoes were undercooked. I enjoyed the chicken sausage however.
This used to be one of our favorite restaurants when visiting DC. We had not been here for a couple years, and were very disappointed by the food. Extremely limited menu choices. Portions now quite small.
Service is still attentive, and the noise level low.
Excellent service and the food was prepared to perfection! The Virginia Chess Pie and brown sugar vinegar ice cream (what!?) was insanely good and, paired with a thick, foamy cappuccino, the perfect end to a fantastic meal!
