La Grotta is tucked away in the heart of the Buckhead residential district and overlooks the lush gardens of the condo courtyard in which it is located. La Grotta literally means "the cave" in Italian and was named such for its cavernous and warm setting. The La Grotta staff is also well known and regarded for its vast knowledge of its customers, the food, diverse knowledge of languages (our staff speaks Italian, Spanish, French & German) and attention to detail. The menu specializes in Northern Italian cuisine with seasonal changes to reflect freshness of ingredients with a focus on locally grown produce.
Reservation was at 9. They sat my down at 9:45. Did not feel I was treated well nor compensated for my wait. Good food yet service could improve.
Amazing italian food! Best in Atlanta by far and the truffle shavings top it all off (literally)!
This restaurant never disappoints. The food was terrific; our waiter attentive - yet not hovering. Timing of each course worked for us. Just a lovely evening. Both my companion and I tried new dishes (for us) and they just delicious. Still one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta.
Another enjoyable evening. We so much like and appreciate the reliable and consistent experience....we've been coming since the late 70's. Please maintain that high standard professionalism of service. The food is always excellent and delicious we appreciate your daily chefs choices. Do glad you are there. Hope to see you again soon, thank you.
They took great care of us for our anniversary will be coming back very soon
LaGrotta is the finest restaurant in Atlanta, a city with dozens of elegant dining alternatives. The appetizers, salads, main courses and desserts all are “best of class!” Make a reservation as seating is limited.
One of the best spots in Atlanta to celebrate a special occasion. We celebrated our 49th wedding anniversary at La Grotta and we were treated as royalty by everyone. Billy (the kid) was our waiter, ably assisted by Brett. They were patient and so helpful in putting together a delicious and memorable dinner. Halibut and a filet cooked to perfection with a spinach salad to begin was the perfect meal. Pistachio ice cream and tiramisu finished the meal and then two flutes of complimentary champagne sent us on our way planning our next meal at La Grotta. Thanks to all of you for a perfect evening.
The food was delicious! Service is always impeccable. I can’t wait to go again.
Was my birthday and this was noted upon our arrival but after our meal we had coffee and amareto and waiter never came back to the table with refills or any birthday desert. Great meal, poor post meal.
Outside seating is much quieter than inside.
Everyone at La Grotta always makes us feel like family!
Excelente restaurant, nos recibieron super amáble y la comida es un espectáculo.! Volvería a ir muchas veces más! Se los recomiendo
One of a kind experience!
Probably our favorite high end restaurant in Atlanta
Normally the service is great, but it wasn't this visit. Our waiter had to be called to our table multiple times.
Fantastic as usual.
Always a great meal and great service. Haven't been disappointed yet! Worth the price!
An excellent overall experience. Very comfortable setting and food service and overall attention to detail was outstanding.
I always love La Grotta; however I could not have been more dissatisfied last evening. We were there to celebrate a very special birthday and I was like we did not exist. The waitstaff, which is usually outstanding, was terrible. They never offer us a drink, we had to ask for a waiter over and over again. I had told them we were celebrating a 70th Birthday...we had to tell them repeatedly and it was as if we never said anything. I was totally embarrassed to have brought guests there.
When I said something as we left,I got as reply of”oh, we had an unusually busy night “.
I always thought of this as a special restaurant but I will have to think long and hard about returning. I truly felt that did not care about my business and I was very unhappy.
Wonderful Italian restaurant in Buckhead. Food and service were fantastic and the layout of the dining room is clever. We were not able to see the garden as it was raining quite hard. Noise level was quite loud and it made it a bit hard to hear fellow diners. Overall a great experience for a nice occasion.
My husband and I went to celebrate his promotion on La Grotta. We love italian food and we were not disappointed. We are goinf back for sure
Incredible service and the food was as always superb. It’s an old school, classic Italian restaurant. We love it and look forward to returning soon.
Great itialian restruant with superior service and menu. Beats the trendy spots by a mile.
Great food. Really enjoyed attention to detail. It was like eating in Italy or for that matter in Europe. It was a relaxed and very well timed out dining experience. We were able to enjoy each course and never rushed. It was a relaxed and enjoyable evening out enjoying some very good food.
Service was very slow to start. Took 10 minutes for someone to come to table to order our $55 bottle of wine. Server was frequently missing when our glasses were empty. Received the wrong meal, but it took so long, after the manager offered a different one we didn't want to wait. Food was good but not exceptional for the price.
Fantastic food, waiter and staff overall really great, actually unforgettable.
The food & service are always stellar. I have never had a poor experience. I just don't get here often enough! Do yourself a favor & get there in June to enjoy the black truffle extravaganza. The mushroom risotto is to die for! Skip the escargot. Too much spinach, not enough snails. Same for the arugala & beet salad. Only had 2 cubes of beet. Otherwise very good & the perfect evening for a birthday celebration.
Weather permitted dining on the patio. Wonderful service and great food with friends from afar made it a very special evening.
Over rated to say the least. From beginning to end it was an enormous disappointment. The best part of the dinner was the friendly water service with a smile!
First time to La Grotta, we will be back! Food was outstanding! Intimate restaurant, just what we were looking for on our anniversary. Restaurant was full all night long, another great indicator of a terrific place.
We’ve eaten here about a dozen times and every time it is always an outstanding dining experience. For us it is the best Italian restaurant in Atlanta.
Absolutely beautiful restaurant, I took my boyfriend for his birthday (he’s never been)...we enjoyed every second of it.
Has been around a long tim so good to try. Risotto gummy. Veal chop good. Pasta w/pancetta and shrimp very good. Went with amazing expectations with all the awards it received and walked away with “it was good”. Wouldn’t return
La Grotta is my favorite place in Atlanta. The food is delicious and the service is AMAZING, really. Servers go on and beyond to make your experience the best. The wine and dishes they recommended us where top notch.
Also I love how cozy it is. Very romantic.
Excellent as always! One of my long time favorites in Atlanta! Vitello Tonnato , all pastas and veal are excellent!
Wonderful evening with Walter in charge of our table. Birthday event for my wife and as always, la Grotta and staff came through to make her evening out an experience that she always remembers.
Totally unmatched and superb to say the least.
The restaurant is a hidden gem! My wife and I really enjoyed the atmosphere, food and overall experience. We will definitely visit again!
We had a fantastic dinner. The food was delicious and the service couldn’t have been better. The patio is a quiet gem. Thanks to our waiter, Damien, and the La Grotta team for a lovely evening!
I’m from Memphis and I wanted authentic Italian food to celebrate my husband’s graduation. We got that and more! The atmosphere was so warm and inviting. I ate everything on my plate! I would definitely recommend La Grotta to locals that haven’t tried it as well as travelers. It’s a must that you visit this establishment. Well worth it!
