Food is always excellent, Service is great, Outside area is really nice!
Our favorite restaurant in the greater Montclair area. The Kaloshis are truly outstanding host and always deliver an excellent Italian meal!
There were large portions and the food was very good. I had the pork chop, I ordered it medium and was cooked to perfection.
The food was very good, and quite over priced for what it was. 40$ for chicken parm. Aside from the food the rest of the experience was probably the worst I have ever encountered. The staff was clearly over worked and confused with the dining layout. Our food was delivered to three different tables before making it to the correct place. When notifying the owner how poor the service was, that no one was coming to check on us and quite a wait to take the order, his response was “your food is on the table, my job is done.” And then upon asking for the check he told me to feel free to write a bad review, he didn’t care.
Hello Josh, we are happy to know that you liked our food. The chicken parm is organic chicken topped with parmigiano-reggiano & fresh mozzarella cheese baked on a special tomato sauce with a side of penne marinara The price is $38 not $40 ... Not sure if you leave in the area but Millburn including our restaurant's garden and the basement was flooded. It took all our team working non stop for 3 days to clean up, restock and prepare for Saturday night. As always we appreciate you dining with us.
I love eating out and trying new food, La Pergola is my favorite. They’re food is simply amazing and delicious. I ate the best pasta and lasagna I’ve had in my life. The sea dishes are so good and fresh and the desserts were great. Experience just like Italy. The servers were very attentive, hardworking, and very pleasant. Looking forward to coming back. Definitely best Italian restaurant in Millburn.
Lovely outdoor area but mediocre food and terrible service. Entrees did not arrive until 2 hours after we arrived. We were never asked if we wanted dessert or coffee. Had to ask 3 times for the check.
Understand staffing is tricky during COVID but the quality and presentation of the food was just OK. The service too was OK. The main course arrived 2 hours after our arrival. The air conditioning seemed to stop after 9 PM. We sat in a 5 star environment but the experience was disappointing. Not horrible but 3 star…
Beautiful outdoor setting. Fresh and tasty food. Good service.
We ate outside in the garden which at first seemed odd as it it literally in the plaza behind the restaurant. However, our seating for two was perfect. The ambiance was very nice. The hanging lights and the outdoor music made the dinner very intimate. As for service, I can’t say enough how attentive the ladies (who I believe were the hostesses) were. They certainly helped make the waiters job easier. For food, my wife got the burrata appetizer which came with very beefy tomatoes and was delicious. I got the mushroom soup which was very good. For dinner, she got the filet mignon which was cooked perfectly and was delicious. I got the duck special with asparagus risotto which was very good. For dessert, we shared the tartufo and lemon pie, both were very good. Overall, everything was very good and I would recommend trying it out
Lovely family owned place where everyone was kind and the service was good from the owner to all levels of the servers. The food was good and they gave generous portions. Nice experience and they were open later than most restaurants in the area which we were looking for.
La Pergola has the best outdoor dining that I’ve been to, a true hidden gem! The food was amazing and the staff was very attentive. The rack of lamb is out of this world and my wife loved her black linguini! I tried the Panna cotta dessert for the first time and it was absolutely delicious. Going back next week for my friends birthday!
Wonderful food and service. What a charming restaurant - we will be back.
Absolutely gorgeous patio dining. The black linguine was pretty mediocre and it was served with two incredibly overcooked, rubbery shrimp. Really overpriced for such a poor dish.
Everything was EXCELLENT. Can’t wait to go back!
Very disappointing. There was a party going on and we struggled to have the wait staff pay us any attention. The food was delicious but service was terrible. Not going back.
Excellent meal and service!
We sat down and ordered our meal. Two people ordered duck which was a special. Two people ordered scallops that were on the regular menu. Ten minutes later we were told that the duck had sold out and that they were out of scallops. It was only 7:20.
We all ordered tomatoes and cheese for an appetizer . I am still waiting for the balsamic that I asked for. Service was very hectic and the food was mediocre. We used to like this restaurant but were very disappointed. We will not be going back. They also added a 20% tip on the bill . I have never seen a restaurant do that for a table if 4.
Have eaten here many times over the years. Always excellent!
We love this restaurant but we clearly visited on an off day - celebrating Father’s Day. The service was nearly non -existent (we sat for long periods of time waiting for waiters and bus people, we finally got our soft drink order near the middle of the main course, etc.) and the ~$50 lobster tail was chewy. We hope the next visit will bring back their usually stellar service and food (but I doubt we’ll order the lobster tail again.)
Terrible service. Owner came to take our order didn’t even announce specials as he did for a bigger table. We asked him why he didn’t apologize and kept saying menus for each party are different. So what? He didn’t even acknowledge his mistake instead told me he owned other restaurants next door with 300 people. So humble of him. Wow
Also the food was not great I do not recommend
Will not go there again.
Food was good. Service was not. Kitchen and staff were clearly overwhelmed. Took more than an hour to get entrees after salad.
1) We told them we have a baby come with us, but high chair is not prepared in advance. 2) why when you service food, waiter sill needs to ask whom ordered what? When you write down your guest’s order, should mark it clear.
Staff works hard and when very busy you will see the owner clearing tables and delivering food.
Atmosphere is very nice and food is wonderful!
Very poor experience - service was unacceptable
In short - over 2hrs wait for our entrees, with our son’s being brought out 35mins before the rest of the table with no explanation… asked 5 different members of staff what was going on and not one had the decency to update. Only when we said we we’re leaving did food magically appear.
Shame. Been big fans but they clearly could not cope with the demand as we were not alone in our experience last night.
Well let’s start. Waitress could not understand her forced us to get certain foods. The food was horrible .. veal chop I had was baked. My wife’s black ink pats had ragú sauce. We waited for bread. I ate with my desert fork.. and my $46 veal chop was horrible maybe it’s me that I know good food but this place was a 2 put of a 10. I gave one young kid who should be the waiter $40 cash tip and left nothing in my bill. Listen I know restaurants and this place isn’t one of them. This is for people that eat bad food all week with. Money and then they go there and they say o my god this is so good . It’s not. !!
I and to ask for bread and extra oil. The waitress who took our order disappeared and then We saw her and. Asked here are you been she said “ we’re a family business and we don’t have to to be with you “. Wow. First and last !!!! Lots of people running around and a fake Italian hostess with a tight blue suit. I said to him “ come va” he said what did you say. I said come va “ he said what language is that i told my wife oh boy let just eat the appetizers and go. She said no give it a Chance. il cibo è orribile. Chao. Don’t go.
We always love our meal at la pergola!!
Beautiful out door garden, amazing food and impeccable service. We had a wonderful birthday lunch!
pretty outdoor setting. delicious eggplant lasagna, sole frances, caesar salad, tartufo
Beautiful outdoor space to celebrate my birthday!
Service was impeccable. Food was delicious. Outdoor garden seating was perfect.
Unfortunately would have given a higher rating but service was poor and wait time for our food was long; they forgot to put our order in. Even in these tough times, just an acknowledgment that it was slow tonight, anything, should have been done. We we’re pretty much ignored. Left after over two hours without dessert as a result.
Busy Friday night but the service and food could not have been better. Their outdoor space is one of the nicest I have seen.
The outdoor dining is lovely. I
Mothers Day Brunch.
Food was very good. Filet mignon was done perfectly
Black squid pasta with shrimp very good.
Always an enjoyable meal. Nice Mother’s Day brunch.
Need black napkins. White lint all over my pants and my husbands.
We love this place. Great food and service always
Like a magical garden with delicious food, excellent white-glove service and an ambiance which is lovely! The food is SO good, it's BYOB (there's a liquor store up the road), we love this restaurant and plan to go back soon!
Really good food, nice atmosphere and priced well. Here's the problem, after 1 hour from ordering our food hadn't arrived. I told the manager and he seemed to panic. I'm sure the waiter forgot to put our order in. We only saw our waiter 2 times, when he took our order and when he brought out our salads. Not a very pleasant experience.
The food never disappoints at La Pergola, and their new outdoor dining space makes for an enchanting evening.
