Food served raw. Pleasant enough staff if slow. Pleasant decor. Waste of money.
Such a pleasure to dine at La Voile. We had a group of 8 and they were so welcoming and attentive to our party (without being obtrusive.) The food was excellent and the atmosphere reminded me of dining in Europe.
The service was good as was the wine list and atmosphere. The food was average. The quality of the meat for the steak frites should be upgraded. Probably won’t return.
Our meal at La Voile was simply wonderful from start to finish. Every dish we tried was delicious and perfectly cooked (fish soup, foie gras, trout with buerre noissette and lemon, moules with curry sauce and lemon and cream puffs). The staff were helpful and accommodating without hovering. All in all our dinner was a delightful experience!
Service impeccable. Decor transcends all cultures in the language of sailing. Food is very fine and has austere presentation. Cozy ambiance. Staff warm and attentive. Wine selections closely tailored to food selections.
Great place to bring your favorite people for a dinner before the Symphony. Quietly tucked in a walk down garden space. Summer cafe en plein air.
Good tastey foods, staff!Very comfortable place! We will come back here soon!
Simply outstanding quality of food, service and overall experience. The squash soup was divine. The Cornish hen was cooked to perfection, as only the French know how.
Had an amazing afternoon meal here for thanksgiving. I love this place. The greeting. Decor. Cozy. Waiter was top notch and recommended the best bottle of Bordeaux. Food was delicious. Everything: bread. Beets with truffle oil. Mussels. Duck. Steak topped with seared foie gras. Desserts delicious. Wish I could eat like this all the time.
Wonderful anniversary celebration with my husband and our daughters. Food was delicious great presentation and excellent service - highly recommend
Excellent as usual!
I love it and will recommend it!
It was really cold outside and restaurant was not crowded. Food was good, but portions were small for the price, but that’s pretty typical of French restaurants.
Been to La Voile many times and the service has always been very good. Not Saturday night. Waited 25 minutes after being seated for a cocktail. And that was after speaking to the waiter's twice. One of the waiter's was very sarcastic. Not a pleasant evening there!
Service was seamless - perfection! Staff at La Voile is the best- as a customer, you really feel like the staff cares! Food, as always, was excellent. Ambience and cleanliness are very, very good. Each time we eat at La Voile, we look forward to the next time....
A little too close to our next table they were a little loud
Food always fantastic and lively atmosphere
May I begin by saying I never write reviews, good, bad, or indifferent, but our experiences at La Voile more than merit an exception to my usual practice.
La Voile is literally the finest French restaurant outside France (and possibly including France and, yes, Paris)!! I live in Manhattan, and there is truly nothing comparable here. In fact, I have been traveling extensively for nearly fifty years, including countless visits to Paris and throughout France, almost always in “first class” style. I would choose a visit to La Voile over virtually any other restaurant at which I have dined.
The cuisine, service, and ambience are beyond compare. If one did not hear some English spoken, one would truly believe they were in Paris, at one of those gems extremely popular and respected by Parisians, and unknown to tourists.
This week we celebrated a second very special occasion at La Voile. We had a few special requests, communicated in advance to management. They were handled beautifully and with followup - completely individualized.
One would be extremely hard pressed to find a comparable delicious and gracious experience than a visit to La Voile.
Thank you, La Voile, for unforgettable evenings and afternoons!
This is one of our neighborhood favorites. Usually the service is as good as the consistent quality of the food. Perhaps because we were at a quiet table, our server was very inattentive.
The food is always fabulous! Alex our waiter was always happy and friendly, courteous and great at suggesting delicious wines. The ambiance is perfect to make you feel as if you were in dining in France.
A wonderful restaurant I’ve eaten at for years. The tables are Very Very close so don’t go for intimate tete-a-tete. Menu is limited but excellent, especially the fish and chicken and mussels. But! Need to bring back the frisée salad and the sparkling water in carafes!!
The entrees were incredible. The Rib Eye and Rack of Lamb was phenomenal. The Dark Chocolate Mousse was also delicious. The sides with the entrees were very well prepared. The seating is a little tight but it uncomfortable. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was that our waiter seemed to disappear after our entree was served.
Great food as usual, but the service was a little less than what I am used to. Let's hope that it was a one-off night
Brasserie in name only....there are far better in Boston area.
First time to La Voile and was very impressed! The food was so delicious, our waiter was good fun and the atmosphere was great! Table was in the middle of the restaurant so perhaps the lighting was a little too bright and location resulted it quite a noisy position. I have already recommended the restaurant to friends when visiting the city.
Delicious and Delightful!
Champagne is a bit more expensive by the glass - get the bottle! (grin). Our server(s) were just a delight. We had a convivial time and that's what one expects at a French restaurant. The mushroom voulté was tasty; the meat prepared correctly. Would have preferred more veggies on the plate.
Expect to wait a bit, tho, if dining during a busy Saturday when the resto is full. But so what? We had a drink, chatted, chilled a bit which is the point of dining out.
Another diner suggested the sole - big enough for 2 so that's next for us to try.
And happily (for me) there are real francophones (a mighty young woman from Dijon). Bon appétit.
We went on a Saturday night with a small party of three. The restaurant was very crowded and very loud. Service was quite slow and it was clear the waitstaff were pressed to their limits. The food was outstanding, so I'd recommend La Voile for the awesome food, but the noise level was so high, it was difficult to carry on a conversation. Also, the wait time between courses was long. I'm hesitant to recommend it on a weekend night for the noise and the slow service. Perhaps midweek would be more pleasant?
Great French bistro style.
The food was lovely. Very authentic experience. Wish the tables were ever so slightly further apart, but that's a small thing overall. Thank you for a delicious dinner.
The Saturday lunch and wine were delicious and I will certainly go back here. However, we were seated next to a door to to a lower-level storage area; employees were in and out of that door (covered by a curtain) and there was an unpleasant, musty smell each time the door was opened. I would not want to sit at that table again.
Tres magnifique!
Everything was perfect, including a very affordable list of Frenxh wines.
Elegant setting with great food and service. We'll be back.
Enjoyed our waiter and his wine knowledge. We will dine here again due to hotel proximity.
Always great food. Charming place. Had a seat that was hard to get into (much like Parisian bistros). Waiter was a bit slow though he got the job done. Always a favorite spot that I return to when in the area.
Really enjoyed our lunch here - service was spot on, food was delicious and the menu offered a nice variety of choices. The chicken sandwich with tomato, mozzerella and pesto was really yummy.
Good food. Service a bit slow. Music was a bit loud.
My husband and I were in France earlier this year, and we can confidently say that La Voile is one of the most authentic French restaurants in Boston. We loved every single dish. I got a delicious steak frites and my husband got the braised veal, which was to die for. Bread and desserts were great as well. The service was excellent. I am 9 months pregnant and both the waiters and the chef were very attentive and accommodating to my annoying pregnancy-related food limitations. Highly recommend it!
Great food, atmosphere of a Paris bistro. Excellent and helpful service. Sea bass deboned tableside and duo of Foie Gras were exceptional.
Dessert assortment was ordered twice by my date ; she enjoyed it so much !
Terrific meal and experience. Food was terrific and drink menu was exceptional. Service was appropriate. Will go back.
David gave us excellent service. Very good portions for French. Recommend the endive salad and trout. If I lived in Boston, I would eat here often.
