THE GOOD LIFE, AROUND A TABLE.HOUSE IS ROMANTIC.Cuernavaca has no shortage of pretty gardens. This one can cook.HOUSE Restaurante sits in the Centro Histórico, across from the Palacio de Cortés. White walls, weathered wood, old trees. At its center, the pool. An hour from Mexico City, with California ease.Chef Daniela Delgado cooks Mexico and the Mediterranean off the same menu. The bread comes out of the oven every morning. No theater at the bar: margaritas and spritzes made properly, mezcal, tequila and wines chosen one by one. Service that arrives when you need it and disappears when you don’t.By day, breakfast under the trees, lunches that run long, brunch on Sundays. At night, the light changes: candles, cocktails and a dinner nobody rushes.Come for breakfast, bring your friends, stay for another drink, or have dinner with someone worth talking to a little longer.Fodor’s Choice · Marco Beteta Recommended · Valet parking · Dog friendly.

My wife and I had been to House before for lunch and decided to return with a friend of ours yesterday. We were surprised to see there were not many tables occupied but nevertheless the food was excellent as usual and the service friendly and efficient.

We went on a weekday and the restaurant was not busy at all and the service was fabulous. The food was impeccable. The host was charming. It was a great experience. All the food we had was great. I would strongly recommend the space for fine dining well on vacation. But it’s certainly not the sweet taco experience. It’s fine dining. that said our duck tacos were very good.

The place is friendly and well laid out with plenty of space between tables. I cannot comment on value for money because I didn’t pay the bill. Our host recommended the fish cooked in a crust of salt (“ pescado a la sal”) which was frankly a little disappointing as it was slightly dry when served. I had a black bean soup for starters which was nice. There was a excellent duo playing Music at a sufficiently low level to allow conversation which was appreciated. All in all we had a good time at Don Atilio.
