“Look Good. Eat Good.” are the words emblazoned on the front windows at the Beauty Shop. This hip and trendy restaurant in the Cooper-Young district of midtown Memphis does both, as it conjures up images of a ‘50s-style beauty shop, formerly Priscilla Presley’s curl-and-dye spot. It’s a camp wonderland where the façade is Jetsons-era Vitrolite, and choice seating is offered beneath hooded Belvedere hair dryers.Nostalgia is served with a sense of humor here. The beauty shop flashback comes complete with original mint green wash basins filling in as sinks behind the hand built bar, made of tiger maple wood. The terrazzo floor is original. Glass brick stalls serve as intimate booths. Mixed with the retro renderings are modern touches such as hand-blown art-glass lights, and glamorous copper and silver-leaf walls.

Lovely bar, wonderful music, and relaxing atmosphere. We asked to be moved to a table for two in a small room by ourselves because the people at the table next to us were quite loud. Staff was very accommodating and service was terrific . Food was adequate so overall experience was superb.

This restaurant is world class! Dined here for my 65th birthday and can honestly say this was one of the best 5 dining experiences in my entire life and I have experienced a lot of restaurants in North America and Europe. We live in Memphis where there is a very good dining scene and this 3 year old establishment raises the bar quite a bit. Ambiance is. Classic refined with a very nice bar by the entrance. Cocktails are creative and they do the classics well. The espresso martini is exceptional! They use coffee beans from a local barista who imports his beans directly from small African farms. The service is on par with any fine dining restaurant. Our server Miso was very familiar with the menu and walked us through all of the dishes with pride and enthusiasm. He even created the Desert Rose cocktail so we tried it and loved it. Classic French cheese tray was a great presentation. Again Miso fully explained all of the choices. I’ll just say you can’t go wrong. Small plates and entrees all Looked creative, varied and highly crafted. We had the sea bass and the filet. Both were not overly seasoned but had great flavor and texture. The steak you could cut with a butter knife and was cooked medium! Perfectly tender. Crème brûlée was perfect and large enough to share. Must go back to try all the other amazing looking dishes! What a gem. Should be Michelin star. Timing of service perfect and relaxed.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience! Our server, Gia, was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable. She recommended the Creamed Corn Brûlée, and it was absolutely amazing! It was such a unique and delicious dish, and we’re so glad we took her recommendation. Excellent service, great food, and a memorable dining experience. She truly went above and beyond to make our visit special. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Memphis! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Had an amazing meal here. Picked it arbitrarily through Open Table reviews. The flights concept is great, get to try a variety of dishes. I had the fish trio, all amazing but the Chilean seabass was top shelf.
