We want BJ's to be a place where the moment you leave is the moment you plan on coming back. We pride ourselves in our craft and attention to detail. Our guests come here for our award-winning handcrafted beer. They come here for the Southern California twist we've put on the Chicago-style deep dish pizza. And they come here for our Pizookies®, our world-renowned dessert. But above all we know people come here to make their good times better. So in many ways we haven't just crafted a brand, but a mindset. And our guests are the reason for this. And it's because of them we're continually striving to make sure every moment they choose to spend with us counts. Welcome to BJ's, a restaurant with a Brewhouse soul.

In 1962, Johnny Harlowe made the jump from the silver screen to chef and owner of Dear John’s. Convinced by his pal Frank Sinatra, Johnny opened the iconic spot just a ways down from Sony Studios on Culver Blvd. It became the watering-hole for the Hollywood elite with Sinatra often in the corner playing the piano against the dark brick walls once lined with portraits of famous John’s. Seasoned chefs and entrepreneurs Hans Röckenwagner and Josiah Citrin have teamed up to re-open Dear John’s with an updated classic American menu and old-school cocktail list.

The Tasting Kitchen on Abbot Kinney in Venice originally opened in 2009, with a young, newcomer chef - Casey Lane - who had just moved to Los Angeles from Portland. The name and concept were one and the same, with Lane refreshing a tasting-style menu almost nightly based on what was available at the markets. Known for its handwritten menus, and luxe bohemian vibes complete with an olive tree growing in the middle of the dining room, the restaurant quickly became one of the iconic tentpoles on the famed Westside boulevard. Here, Lane made a name for himself in the LA culinary scene and helped create a hot spot for locals and a destination for an audience beyond.Chef Casey Lane’s approach is simultaneously serious with technique and relaxed in delivery. The menu will once again be ingredient-driven, with bold flavors, live fire, and coursed with intention.

Italian-American Signatures. Venice After Dark. Scopa Italian Roots is the Venice restaurant that has stayed in demand for more than 11 years by betting on discipline instead of reinvention. Chef Antonia Lofaso built this kitchen on family lineage from Naples and Calabria, formal training in New York, and a career spent in high-pressure kitchens before Scopa ever opened. The food that comes out of this room is not modern Italian. It is old-school Italian-American cooked at a professional LA standard, and it holds up the same way on a packed Saturday as it does on a quiet Monday.Founded by Mario Guddemi and Salvatore Aurora alongside Chef Lofaso, Scopa sits on the same hospitality backbone as Black Market Liquor Bar, The Chestnut Club, DAMA, and Old Lightning. This is a Venice institution built on neighborhood patronage and Italian tradition, not a chef vanity project.2905 Washington Boulevard, Venice. Open nightly.

In the early 1970's our dad opened his first restaurant, Jino's, in Our very same location. He aimed to give the people of Inglewood an option different from the big chains by using quality ingredients and a fresh approach. Our goal at Sunday Gravy is to continue building on that foundation. We proudly serve fresh pasta by Florentyna’s and organically made artisan breads from Cadoro Bakery, both made with pride in Inglewood. At Sunday Gravy, we emphasize the coming together of family, friends, and communities around great food, drink, and conversation.

Can’t believe I never made it to Dear John’s until last night. From the outside, it’s basically an unassuming, windowless box on Culver Boulevard. Step inside, though, and it’s a subtly updated throwback to the old-school, Rat Pack-era steakhouse and bar. Service was extremely attentive, and the food was nearly flawless. The New York strip and filet were both cooked perfectly medium rare. The Italian chopped salad tasted fresh, with an excellent dressing that we wisely got on the side. The creamed spinach and broccolini were on point as well. The steak fries were good, though perhaps cooked just a smidge too long. Even the bread deserves a mention: a warm boule with a crunchy crust, soft interior, and delicious butter. The bar also turned out some excellent drinks. Only other quibble was the tiramisu, which was very good but felt a little small for the price. Dear John’s is definitely on the pricey side, but the atmosphere, service, drinks, and quality of the food made it feel worth it. I’m mostly wondering how I managed to live in LA this long

I have never had a meal I didn’t love here! It was the dream, being able to sample a bunch of dishes at Happy Hour and I finally got to have the ceviche this time. TBH, I love it even more than their famous aguachile - but admittedly, it’s cuz I can’t handle that dish’s heat. The flautas were amazing. The chicharrones were super flavorful and not oily - and I’m Filipina, so I know an excellent chicharrón when I have one! My fave dish of the night… the enchiladas. They. Are. Soooo. Good! Get the albóndigas if you like duck - it’s a whole different taste. The molé was the only disappointment of the night - but only mildly so. We were too full to finish them anyway. Charlie is a great (new) bartender, and Kelly (Svc Mgr) is always exceptional at making sure her guests are getting what they need and enjoying everything. A++. Thanks for another great dining experience, BSC!!
