Before there was a hotel, there was a saloon. In 1852, thousands of thirsty prospectors filled their glasses at the original Golden Gate Saloon. After Grass Valley was destroyed by a fire in 1855, the owners quickly adapted and sold whiskey and beer to loyal customers from a tent among the rubble the next day. A seamless flow from the bar to the dining room and outdoor patio offers our guests the perfect mix of food and drink.     Food was awesome, but the service was beyond what anyone could expect. My elderly father was having trouble getting into the restaurant, and the bartenders came out to help him in and out!!! Above and beyond I thank them from the bottom of my heart; they are wonderful people.
