PO'BOYS BBQ, Athens' favorite pop up street food hangout is finally getting its own space.​PO'BOYS, born out of the effort of Chef and Owner Vassilis Sporos to get acquainted with the authentic Southern BBQ and the low and slow smoked meats in the Athenian audience. Gloria Gati is the new restaurant of chef George Papakostas who jokingly refers to Gloria as the older sister of Vittoria Gati, another famous restaurant of his in Glyfada. Gloria is located in a historic building in the Athens center just 50 meters from Syntagma square. It is defined by an eclectic vintage design in a very cosy space where the pizza oven takes center stage. The bar serves award winning cocktails and over 100 wines from Greece and around the globe. The menu is Italian with a focus on homemade pasta and quality meats. The pizza is made from a 1937 sourdough and baked in a traditional oven imported from Naples. Some of the signature dishes include the steak tartare, arancini bolognese, the raviolo cacio pepe, the reginette al tartufo for truffle lovers as well as pollo francese and the ossobuco which is cooked for 12 hours. A tiramisu is a must here accompanied by a single estate espresso. Outside seating is available all year round in the courtyard of St George church

    It is a beautiful restaurant with impressive service and delicious food. You choose from one of their preset menus and then can add to it from there with additional courses or substitutions for an additional fee. The restaurant was elegant and tasteful as was the food and staff. We even left an item at our table and a staff member found us in the crowd outside the restaurant to give it back. That goes above and beyond in my opinion. We even received a book about the restaurant, a thank you card sealed with wax, and cookies to take home. The little touches were great. The funny thing is, I chose the restaurant for the view, but due to weather conditions, we ate indoors. However, the food was so good, I forgot I was there for the view to begin with.
