Recommended in the MICHELIN Guide for California 2021-2023. Located in Oakland’s historic Grand Lake District, Bardo is a neighborhood lounge and restaurant inspired by the comfort and camaraderie of a mid-century dinner party. Drawing on the celebration and elegance of old school entertaining, we envisioned a space for friends and neighbors to enjoy amazing food, cocktails, conversation and great music. Our lounge is a swank living room, furnished with hand-picked finds from antique and vintage markets from Palm Springs to Portland. Our mezzanine dining room features a rotating menu of fresh, seasonal supper-fare with local and sustainably sourced meats, fish and produce. While we think the food, drinks and atmosphere are all great reasons to visit us, it’s the relationships with our friends, neighbors and guests that is the driving force behind Bardo.

Our first visit to Top Hatters Kitchen and we were impressed! We took our sons as a “thank you “ and they loved it. The drinks were beautiful and delicious. Best espresso martini ever! The food was outstanding, we loved everything we ordered. The donuts, both appetizer and dessert, were unique, flavorful and delicious. The watermelon salad was a perfect 10 and the meat platter provided a nice way of tasting their options. The oysters, both raw and cooked were sumptuous. It was a lovely evening. The one negative was the ordering process. You have to order off a QR code, hate it! The food is expensive enough to have a more personal experience, be able to ask questions and suggest parings. Plus you have to worry about the authenticity of QR codes. Don’t know why this persists and I hope they change it.

We had not been to Spinning Bones in several years and were pleased to find that even though ownership has changed, the food and experience were excellent. We enjoyed the corn fritters, peach and burrata salad and the “Three Little Pigs” BBQ entree. Definitely a place for meat lovers. We chose to sit outside and the traffic on Park St was noticeable but did not interfere with our enjoyment of the meal. Service was good.

We were a party of six, locals and visitors, planning an event together at the USS Hornet. Food was amazing - we ordered appetizers and one pizza. Each of our entrees was excellent and the service was attentive but not overwhelming. We had a corner table and the room was lively but we could all hear well enough to share our information. We'll be back!

I was very pleased with my entire experience. I chose this place to have a business meeting and the food and customer service was beyond expectations. The Chef walked up and greeted us and she is nice as ever. I can’t remember the name of the darker skinned guy who served us but his customer service skills were definitely on point. I’ll be back!!!
