Great food. The date night special was fantastic. The service and ambience were spot on.

Saskatoon’s St. Tropez Bistro is a pleasing option for a romantic evening and fine dining. We found the bison carpaccio outstanding (10/10 would eat again many times), along with the bison ribs main course. But the lavender honey lemon posset for dessert was amazing. Herbs are grown and harvested from a rooftop garden and are used liberally (if sometimes repeatedly) as garnishes and within the dishes. The wine list is extensive and it is my understanding that it is personally chosen by the chef and his partner (often during trips abroad), so you can expect to find some interesting bottles from regions like Bordeaux’s Entre-deux-Mers for example. Be sure to check out the cocktail bar, Parlor, upstairs for creative libations to lead you beautifully into your dinner. Worth a stop.

Although Taverna has been operating in Saskatoon for several years, this was our first visit since it was renovated. We were quite impressed with the open, airy atmosphere created by the renovations, and our cordial, attentive waitress. The warm olive appetizer and focacia were excellent and our pasta entries were both delicious and plentiful.

The tasting menu was fantastic. Worked around dietary restrictions. Good ambiance, unique flavors.

After spending a very long season in the remote wilderness of Northern Saskatchewan being severely short staffed and overworked I was looking forward to Lil Grouse on the Prairie being the first meal that I wasn’t cooking. And they did not disappoint. My coworkers and I had the 7 courses family style meal and I took the wine pairing to go along with my dinner. The food was delicious, the service impeccable and the knowledge of wine the server had was delightful. Thank you for a great first night out in months. Cheers with kitchen beers. 🍻
