Come dine in this beautifully restored Uptown restaurant on Magazine Street and enjoy James Beard Award Winning Chef Justin Devillier's contemporary Louisiana Cuisine. The La Petite Grocery name pays homage to the history of its home, a building that’s stood for more than a century. The original structure was built in the late 1800s and called the Central Tea, Coffee and Butter Depot. In 1908, a fire devastated the space and it was transformed into a full service grocery store. Later it was most notably a fine foods and butcher shop, VonderHaar’s Fine Foods until 1982. When La Petite Grocery opened in March of 2004, they similarly aspired to provide the neighborhood with exotic teas, locally roasted coffee, and fresh produce. By doing this, we hope to provide a dining experience that evokes nostalgia of old New Orleans. Reservations are preferred.

Arrived for 5:30 dinner reservation and was promptly seated amidst a noisy, happy, bustling restaurant. Our server was excellent and reminded us of their happy hour specials and we gladly tried a half dozen raw oysters with our half price happy hour drinks. Delivered promptly. We ordered a beet salad which was full of delicious beets and crispy cold salad. Server returned in time to make sure we got one more happy hour drink to have with our trout almandine. I highly recommend that you try this restaurant for the excellent food and service. Happy hour is every day, so if you don’t have time for a meal be sure you stop by.

My fiancé and I had an amazing time…service was impeccable. Our server Michelle was attentive and extremely knowledgeable and amicable. The wait staff were equally attentive. Now the food was divine, starting with the delectable homemade biscuits, that came every 10 minutes…we stopped after two so we could have room for our meal! We shared an order of fried oysters as a starter…OMG! Then we had the beet and pear salads…fantastic. My fiancé chose the scalibut and I had the red snapper…both succulent dishes. And an added bonus is that if you park at a particular lot the restaurant suggests and take a picture of your license plate that you share on arrival, the restaurant pays a 3-hour time period…wow, never heard of. In summary we will definitely return and highly recommend this New Orleans institution! Please make your reservations immediately!!

Our breakfast experience was impeccable. I had not dined at Brennans in decades but it was every bit as magical. You won’t be disappointed with anything but my husband had Eggs Hussarde and for a breakfast starter we shared the Tropical Fruit Parfait with mango curd and layered with chia and granola. I had Eggs St Charles with blood orange hollandaise. Words fail me. Honestly I wish I had made a reservation here for each morning we are in New Orleans. The service was immaculate and the ambiance enchanting. I don’t know how I’ll ever give a 5 star review again.
