    Always delicious food at L'Ardoise. The duck confit is tender, tasty and substantial. The rack of lamb was perfectly done. Also quite a sizable portion. And the duck fat potatoes are consistently excellent, if not a bit greasy. Service, as usual, was attentive, friendly but not overdone.

    We are very fortunate to have L'Ardoise in our neighborhood. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at L'Ardoise and have done so for several years. The staff is friendly, helpful, and delightfully combines the French and English languages. The items on the menu haven't changed much and that is an excellent thing. French comfort food should be consistent and the L'Ardoise chef accomplishes this perfectly.

    Absolutely the best! Never fails! Great service and the tastiest French bistro food around. Also not to be missed is their sister restaurant, Mathilde, south of Market. Both equally perfect!

    This is a charming venue with efficient and excellent service and excellent food. It is a pleasure to dine at L’Ardoise. The staff are welcoming and willing to provide recommendations, and not intrusive. The menu is varied and an excellent value.

    I had an amazing dinner last night at L’Ardoise. Very professional and friendly staff, and the food was delicious. “Mention spéciale” for the butter lettuce, so simple but soooo good. Loved the muted ambiance, very chic.

    Friendly welcome and good service. The meals were generally quite good but needed seasoning with salt. My duck confit was expertly cooked but as noted both the duck and the potato sideneeded more salt. My wife had the lamb, again perfectly cooked but needed salt. We willgo back.

    This place is a neighborhood gem, and has consistently excellent food. I highly recommend the brussels sprout salad, the duck confit, and the fish option is always perfectly prepared. The pommes landaises are not to be missed, so order a side. Desserts are delicious and very traditional( tart tatin, isle flotant, and creme brulee) do not disappoint.

    Bay Area locals who missed his wonderful experience at Paris and he chose this restaurant. The people are French and same as dishes. Even the narrow seats reminded me of that in Paris. If they don’t charge tips that’s even closer to Paris.

    L’Ardoise used to be a favorite of ours in the past, I just got back from Paris and wanted to continue eating the French way. I was disappointed, my duck confit was way salty, and salad and squash soup very boring. My husband’s steak was also too salty and not very tasty!we also felt rushed tours the end.. not really an enjoyable dinner✨👻✨

    Wonderful birthday dinner in a cozy, authentic French Bistro setting. 5 stars for Service, food, cocktails and ambiance in this lovely tree-lined eureka valley/Castro neighborhood. Not pretentious or loud. We found parking easily on Henry street and totally enjoyed our evening!! We will be back
