As always food and service were outstanding
Food tasted awful, not fresh at all. We won’t be back.
While everything in regards to our meal was fantastic, I do need to comment on the price of a normal cocktail. While I understand that I was in the Hamptons, it is grossly obscene to charge $24 for an Aperol spritz anywhere! The one cocktail cost more than our appetizer salad at $18 or dessert at $18. Totally get wanting to make a profit,…but really?
Confused service but delicious food. Respected dietary restrictions.
Very nice place! Kind and welcoming owner!
The staff was pleasant. Hope they bring back more of their typical French food!
I usually love this restaurant despite having a waitress committed credit card fraud 2 years ago by adjusting her tip, but we met the owner last night who could not have been ruder to my family. the waiter was kind and apologetic but the food was wrong which added insult to injury for the treatment by the owner. I never leave reviews but this was just too much.
Wait staff and hostess were incredible- kind, accommodating, understanding, helpful. Owner was an jerk who clearly operated from a place of fear with his staff, yelling at us for asking to increase our table to 8 people in a nearly empty dining room, and then yelling at his staff for trying to allow it. It was embarrassing for him. I would have left except I wanted to support his kind staff. The owner ruined the entire experience and we all left with a bad taste because of him. Would not recommend. His staff should look elsewhere for work.
1- started out ok with waiter bringing drinks.
2- ordered salad for appetizer to be split for 2. Salad arrived but NOT split. When we reminded server to split it for us, he didn’t say there was an $8 split fee; surprise on the final bill.
3- salad was good recipe but too much blue cheese.
4-both of us ordered lamb ribs with risotto. One was to be medium. One was to be medium rare.
5- we waited at least 45 minutes. The WAITER NEVER came to tell us there was a delay in the kitchen or apologize for delay. When we summoned him, he just said the kitchen was overwhelmed, and there were lot of customers- NOT what we wanted to hear. Were we not as important as the other customers??
6-The waiter basically hid from sight and about 7 minutes later the main courses were delivered.
7-the medium was well done. The medium rare was well done, no taste, and somewhat tough.
8- the risotto was clumpy and bitter.
8-given that we had wished so long and it was late, we were not going to send them back to the kitchen. When we told the waiter , he discussed with the chef. He returned with an apology from the chef and reiterated that there were alot of customers! NOT adequate or appropriate response. He talked to the Maitre D’ire , who said just offer them a drink or dessert.
We already had drinks- why would we want another drink? Now, these lamb chops were some of the most expensive meals on the menu- $42. We were insulted that no further concession was offered, the M.D. did not come over himself to discuss or apologize. That is definitely not behavior worthy of a $157 meal.
9- the last time we went to Le Charlot, we had difficulty with the service.
We will never go to Le Charlot ever again. We would sooner go to McDonalds.
While the food was good, the reception we received on entering the restaurant was terrible and offensive. The maitre'd was blocking the entrance talking loudly to some potential diners. I saw my wife at a table and asked him to excuse me so I could get around him. He became offended and later came to our table and chastised me for asking to be excused. I would have walked out but my wife was hungry and did not want to find another restaurant. I do not remember ever being so rudely treated in any other restaurant.
In addition, the noise level was so high we had to lean across the table to converse. The cost was also a problem. My wife asked for a salad instead of fries with her steak. We were charged an additional $8 for a handful of lettuce - that waiter, who was very good--warned us of the additional charge.
Service was slow even with very few people there initially (we had a 6:15 reservation). The cajun chicken is prepared much better at their sister restaurant LeBilboquet.
Everyone was super friendly and flexible when we decided to move from our indoor table to an outdoor one. My salmon and spinach was delicious. A great spot.
This is a very bouncy and noisy blast of fun.
It takes the second cocktail to kick in for the noise level to soften, but the food is bistro good and a very eclectic group of patrons makes this a fun night out.
I wouldn't propose here but for a couple who knows how to lip read it is a happy vibe.
Non existent service. Had to flag someone for water, dessert, the check. Thought it would be easier to just order bottled water since we weren’t getting it otherwise- $14.00 per bottle! Awful especially for a birthday celebration!
Always the best in SH !
This is our go to place for Mussels and Frites! Always so fresh and the most delicious frites in the Hamptons. Totally adore the owners too.
The food was great, the ambiance was nice, but the waiter was
The food was perfectly prepared and delicious. The wine list is short and sweet. The service was abit sloppy, but courteous.
Great hamburgers n salad. Service a bit slow and right on sidewslk
Love this Restarant and Arthur is one of the best managers in the business
they were fresh waited a extremely long time for the food was extremely expensive for just a ok lunch for a 1 pm lunch we didn't get out of there until 3 terrible service would never go back
All was fine attentive until about 75% thru meal
Then the waiter totally
Disappeared. I had to get up Go inside and ask for a
Good dinner. Quick …Outdoors so that was pleasant
Just a Little more attention would have been nice
Our overall experience for Father's Day was wonderful.
The host was welcoming and totally in charge of making sure everything ran smoothly during our meal. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, friendly and efficient.
And delicious mussels and fries topped off our lunch!
We waited an hour for our food and when it arrived it was terrible. The chicken curry was over cooked and my friend left half of it. The lobster salad was a joke… two tiny slivers of lobster… the only good dish there are the mussels. None of us would ever dine there again.
We have been to Le Charlot in both New York City and Southampton. As anticipated, the food at both places is excellent though the menu out east was not as extensive as NYC. (a must is the beef bourguignon). However the restaurant in Southampton needs to have their wait staff more attentive to the diners they are serving. Little things, like asking for bread, asking for ice for water seemed to take an unreasonably long time to get. And that was flagging down a different waiter that happened to be passing close by. Although we had a pleasant meal, these little negatives kept the reviews from being a 5 star experience.
Server was very pleasant. They seemed to be understaffed though. My wife had salmon which she said was pretty good. My son and I had the Filet & Fries. The filet was not a great cut of meat and it was over cooked and not medium rare as requested. When I have steak at a restaurant I expect it to be better than what I cook at home and it was definitely not.
First time at this restaurant - very nice change for us. Food was very good. Lively crowd, mix of younger and middle aged. Service got a little sloppy as they got busy but not bad. Noise got very loud as the night went on. I would definitely go back to try other items on the menu. For appetizers we had tuna tartare, lobster bisque ( special), arugula salad - all very good. For mains we had filet mignon, rack of lamb, and mussels and frites - again all good.
Love coming here for many years;)
Charged $49 for a special chicken entree. Ridiculous
Got taken advantage of. Not going back again.
The meal here was not the worst we have ever had but close to the worst ever. The mussels were good, as was the salad but the rest of the meal was terrible. The wait staff dropped silverware on the floor constantly as well as plates. My wife ordered the lamb which came with saffron risotto so she asked if the chef would be certain to make the risoto "al dente" as it should be & the waiter checked with the chef. The chef said it wasn't possible as it was pre-cooked. Pre-cooked in a good restaurant? They did not have fresh bread so they served us old toasted sliced bread & told us they did not get a bread delivery that day. I have owned several restaurants & we were prepared if this ever happens. I ordered the steak poivre rare. It was medium well at best so I sent it back. 15 minutes later I received it, when everyone else had almost finished their meals. It was medim-rare at best,so I just ate it & let it go. The filet mignon our friend ordered was dry, stringy & definitely a filet mignon that our guests were used to eating. Definitely poor quality meat - certainly prime not even choice. The music was loud & blasting making it difficult to carry on a conversation. We will NEVER return here & we would recommend avoiding this place as there are many other better restaurants in the vicinity.
Go on app. Make a reservation for 3:45. Note there are reservations available every 15 minutes the entire day.
Get to the restaurant. The pleasant waiter asks someone behind the bar if he can sit us. The guy behind the bar says no because they close an hour in the afternoon. I tell the waiter we had a reservation with a confused look and he addresses the unpleasant guy at the bar. We just told them not to worry it was fine we will find another place to dine.
The person with me was fine with it. He has dined there before, food is just average but this is Southampton so... it is acceptable. Better places available that appreciate the business.
We had great service; very friendly host & attentive waitstaff. The food was good portions and delicious. Value is the medium to high end of hamptons prices but that’s to be expected. We really enjoyed it and would go back!
Terrible service. Over-priced “meh” food. Gabe us the check from a different table that was much more than ours.
Bad bad bad !!!
Wonderful , staff were friendly
Le Charlot offers delicous classic French cuisine with all of the Gallic flair and gracious service. It deserves to be a "go to" spot for locals and visitors alike. The duck confit, endive salad, escargot, and rack of lamb are just delicious. Bon appetit!
Service with an attitude (as in like “rude to the guests”)... since when is this acceptable at a place that serves mediocre food at ridiculous prices?
Great menu with a good variety of options. Food delicious, drinks great. Attentive, professional service. Highly recommended- but do make a reservation, as this restaurant is very busy.
Good service, food was OK but not amazing
Very expensive for this quality
Service was impeccable. The staff was honest about menu favorites, best seats, etc. They also did not rush us through the meal. Felt like we were in a European cafe for the evening.
I often dine at this lovely bistro. The menu is interesting & everything is wonderful. Service gracious & warm. Ambiance nice, but it could be improved.
