The seasonal menu always includes a variety of fresh oysters and clams, as well as lighter fare such as the grilled octopus salad, fresh market fish, and heartier favorites such as the prime steaks.

Great service and beautiful venue- particularly the balcony seating!
Great Food great location will definitely be going back. Love the Oyster selection
We enjoyed a fine meal with excellent service. The atmosphere is upscale, wine selections very good, and the pricing favorable. Overall we had a lovely evening, not rushed at all.
perfect for a relaxed dinner, especially outside. Inside can get louder that I prefer, but it is not terrible
Traditional plates made with a creative flair. We had a party of six and each meal was delicious.
This is a wonderful restaurant! The food and service were great. Will definitely go back!
Always a great experience. Server was polite and attentive. They remember your face and everyone checks in. Great for brunch or dinner. Make a reservation.
The Lighthorse is one of our favorite hometown restaurants. We love the service, the food and the ambience. Their Mushroom Risotto is phenomenal and their Meatloaf is always a go-to. Staff is still adhering to masks, and there is still some social distancing and we felt comfortable dining indoors. Highly recommend!
While the food was as good as always - which is very good - it was a little disappointing that the menu still seemed to be more seasonably 'winter' menu, with not much that was lighter, more spring/summer...
i.e. meatloaf wrapped in bacon with mashed potatoes, duck breast in mustard sauce, chiken breast with winter vegetables, pork chop in a honey-coriander glaze w spaetzle, etc. All failry heavy/winter style dishes. Even the fish specials were either fried (it was very tasty!) or in a 'morrocan style' sauce which sounded heavily spiced... i.e. wintery.
We love Light Horse, and probably go there more than most other restaurants at which we eat, but the menu needs to be stepped up to offer more dishes that fit the current season... if it had still been 90 degrees outside, we may have had trouble finding anything that would have been in sync with the day.
Enjoyable experience, as it has been in the past. Disappointed that several menu items weren't available for our 7:30 reservations. Could use some more specials and seafood alternatives.
Always great food and ambiance. Family friendly and an overall place to hang out with friends!! The staff is delightful!
Back for brunch again and another great midday meal. My eggs were overdone (ordered over easy and not runny), but otherwise excellent - presentation and flavor great. And my companions' meals were excellent all around. Service was superb.
Had a 6-person reservation for which we were seated immediately. The service was excellent, and we all agreed that our food was excellent. We never felt rushed, and despite being a busy weekend, the food came out timely. The ambience inside is great as well.
Went for brunch and loved it. Started with the fried oysters and a Bellini which were FANTASTIC. Everyone loved their main dishes. Love this place every time I go.
One of the most beautiful rooms and food to match. Great service. Great vibe.
Is my second experience with my wife and the food is really good the service and price is great no complaints at all I recommend with out hesitation 🙌🏻
Amazing food, service and atmosphere!
Best meal I’ve had in a very long time. Perfect service.
A favorite place with a wonderful atmosphere. Everyone loves it.
The bus boy was incredibly rode, rushed us off table. Made us clear our purses off table and move from table when we were done paying bill and waiting for friends to use restroom . Made rude comments in Spanish ( we can understand )
We always love the Light Horse. The menu changes, has interesting choices, and is not too overwhelming. I was there for a working lunch and it was great.
Came here for Mother's Day, so it was pretty busy - understandably it took a long time to get our food. However, the food was just OK, nothing great.
I was pleased at how airy the room was, with doors open, fans twirling and tables well-spaced.
food was excellent. Our service wasn't unfortunately. We sat next to the bar, and saw our drinks waiting to be delivered, for maybe 10 min. Our server wasn't the best, she didn't mention there was a pasta special either.
We love light horse !!! Our favorite spot in jersey city !
Place was great. Fantastic food. Nice selection at the bar.
Never disappoints! Outstanding food, excellent service, it’s become one of my favorite places in Jersey City.
One of the best in DTJC!! Always a special evening
Always amazing food, taste like a home cooked meal.
One of my favorite restaurants in NJ. Great for brunch with oysters or dinner with drinks.
Maybe they are very understaffed? Mistakes were made throughout the visit. Food was very sub-par and it was clear the kitchen staff were scrambling to get orders out the door so the care they would typically put into a dish was not there especially from a quality perspective. For example, the eggs in the benedict might as well have been hard boiled because the yolks were so overcooked, they crumbled when you cut into them! Owners - you need to figure out how the make Light Horse Tavern great again ASAP!
We were visiting area for 4 days and chose this restaurant twice in those 4 days. Great ambiance, food and service!
Four of us had a very enjoyable dinner - we had apps and dinner of raw oysters, BBQ ribs, burgers, duck and crab cake - all were very good. Apple pie for dessert was also very good. Service was prompt and nicely attentive. Prices were reasonable and the atmosphere was very nice as well. We will be back as it was a great spot to meet friends from NYC for dinner.
The good and service was amazing!
We ordered the calamari, the NY Strip Steak, Brussels sprouts, fries and the apple pie. Soooooo tasty! Definitely a hidden gem.
Plus the Owners or Manager were so nice and accommodating!
Love this place few steps from home, owner so nice and gentle every time.
Terrible experience for the second time. Food took 1 hour 40 minutes with absolutely no updates. Very poor service. I will not be going back
The food was AMAZING! The whole dining experience was above our expectations!!
Always a great meal, service is excellent and the food is even better. This is our Go-To Happy Place!
Light horse tavern has an old world charm with big windows and high ceilings. It delivers on ambiance.
I’ve been to Light horse tavern for several years and food has always been delicious but for some reason today’s brunch lacked in flavor.
We’re frequents of the lobster garage but have not tried light horse tavern since moved into town due to the pandemic. We were absolutely pleased and enjoyed our dinner. Thank you for accommodating us despite changing our reservations a few times. We had a fantastic dinner!
