About the restaurant
The red metal sculptures hanging over the dining area at Culinary Dropout undoubtedly make the restaurant stand out. Of course, their impressive murals, focus on large parties and constant showcase of local bands doesn’t hurt their cause either. Those worried about getting lost in the Downtown Gilbert area will have no trouble finding this eatery thanks to the artistic exterior wall, blue hoop lighting and huge neon sign with corresponding arrow leading the way. They offer crowd favorites like pretzel bites, honey-drizzled fried chicken, 36-hour pork ribs and grilled steak tacos.

We were staying at the Phoenician and wanted to watch the Iowa women's basketball game. Made a reservation for 6 people the day before and requested a seat near a TV to watch the game. We were given a perfect table in the center of multiple TVs. The atmosphere was great. Our server Patrick (from Omaha) was perfectly attentive, and also so respectful of our desire to sit and enjoy the entire game. Dueling Pianos was scheduled to start at 8, but they "read the room" and started after the game ended. And they were SO talented and entertaining! Better than bar food, fun cocktails... I highly recommend!

About the restaurant
The fact that Wine Spectator called this eatery's wine list "one of the most outstanding in the world” isn’t what makes Maple & Ash potentially the best new restaurant in Phoenix. This accolade is definitely impressive, but it combines with a luxury atmosphere, unique menu and wood-fired dishes to really round out the experience. The candlelit tables, intricate lighting sculptures and fine dining atmosphere also stand out. With menu options like lamb chop lollipops, wood-grilled Spanish octopus, crispy pork Milanese and Alaskan King crab legs, though, it’s hard to identify the most impressive aspect of this eatery.

About the restaurant
Before it even opened, MODERN Oysterbar Chophouse was predicted to turn Arizona's dining scene on its head. It easily lived up to this hype by offering innovative and fresh seafood options like Alaskan halibut, whole grilled lobster and delicious seared scallops. The focal point of the eatery, however, is the expansive oyster bar. The large stone pillars outside make the establishment hard to miss, but the contemporary decor – ranging from vintage ceiling designs to log-style walls – make it hard to leave without feeling a bit of nostalgia.

Food was all very good. Happy hour prices made it reasonable. Service was good, but sorry that mandatory tip for party of 6 is necessary. Very noisy, we asked to be moved & were reluctantly accommodated. Overall great food, good service & glad we’re able to reserve.

About the restaurant
Diners can find BBQ anywhere in Arizona, but if they want something special, they should try out the regional-influenced fare at Liberty Station that comes complete with a few Bostonian touches from the owners. It certainly sounds distinctive on the surface, and the menu follows through with offerings like brisket quesadilla, tavern burgers, red bird fried chicken and Boston cod tacos. The uniqueness continues with classic Americana décor. And when guests hear about the 500-gallon Camelback Smoker onsite, they know they’re about to get a taste of real Southern BBQ.

About the restaurant
One of the favorite new restaurants in Phoenix – Volanti Restaurant & Lounge – overlooks the runway at the new Scottsdale Airport and provides breathtaking views of the city and McDowell Mountains. They offer service to the private jets nearby, so their fare is first class all the way. This is evidenced by a menu that features Cuban ciabatta, Irish organic grilled salmon, exotic mushroom bruschetta and house-made hummus. Guests should grab a photo of themselves posed with the hanging biplane before they head out for the day.

About the restaurant
Anyone who has not visited a churrascaria in Arizona would do well to choose Galeto Brazilian Steakhouse as their first experience. They have a menu with fresh seafood, juicy steaks and tantalizing desserts, but most guests come for the all-you-can-eat parade of meats that are served tableside. This includes up to 16 different options – ranging from ribeye and filet mignon to chicken and racks of lamb – for diners to enjoy before the gourmet table. All of this is enjoyed in a contemporary setting with the massive wine selection on display in the dining area – all coming together to make this one of the best new restaurants in Phoenix.

Very nice restaurant and for the most part it was an excellent dinner. Little annoyed that when we sat our waiter only offered still or sparkling water, and then charged us for the still water, came back after we finished two bottles of it and offered tap water! We also were charged for an adult full meal for our 11-year-old who didn't eat any of the meat, only some stuff from the salad bar. We were never even asked, it was just assumed. One other difference from other Brazilian Steak Houses, the pineapple is not a regular item, if you ask for the pineapple, you will be charged for it separately - but it was delicious, better than the other steakhouses. The manager was great and I'd recommend this place, just be aware.
