The London restaurant community is just coming off some major awards buzz. OpenTable recently unveiled its inaugural London Restaurant Awards featuring winners chosen by diners and industry peers alike. Plus, London welcomed its very first Icons restaurants, a designation recognising the establishments at the forefront of the dining conversation right now.

Who better to help us celebrate this milestone than broadcaster extraordinaire and “Celebrity MasterChef” contestant Clara Amfo. You’ve surely seen this foodie proclaim her love of London restaurants and spotlight her Ghanaian heritage through food. Now, she’s taking us behind the scenes of a couple of OpenTable Icons and sharing her broader list of favourites across town.

“Dining out in London will always be one of the purest joys of my life! It’s a city that allows you to skip around the continents via great dishes within minutes. I’d say that’s a pretty great deal. I love being introduced to new and established spots by friends and doing the same in return. Whether in a group or solo, at a farmer’s market or in a restaurant, enjoying great food in London is a genuinely exciting experience every single time, and I wouldn’t want to live or eat anywhere else!”

Read on for where Clara Amfo loves to eat in London, and book them all instantly on OpenTable.

Camberwell
Lovers of Ethiopian cuisine and adventurous foodies will appreciate this bright, clean and modern restaurant in Camberwell that prides itself on its family recipes and dedication to authentic Ethiopian traditions. Zeret itself is a name that comes from a small village in northern Ethiopia, and the menu includes mostly chicken, lamb and beef stews made with butter, garlic and ginger served on pancake-like flatbread called enjera. All the food here is delicious, and the dining room is decorated with colourful placemats, potted palms and simple white walls. Perfect for communal/sharing meals with friends and family, the Zeret Kitchen has attentive staff and a relaxed atmosphere – don't miss the Ethiopian style chicken cooked with green chillies, herbs and spices.

I am a Malaysian living in London. This was my first visit to Mambow and I will definitely come again. The delicious well presented food and drink reminded me of my childhood favourites. The fragrance of the cooking spices as we approached the restaurant with the nondescript front was a prelude to the feast. It doesn't need a flashy front - the food does all the talking. Young well-informed staff are helpful and prompt. None were Malaysian so you'd forgive their slight mispronunciations of dish names. The menu was a chef's take on Malaysian originals but the tastes and smells were authentic. Unpretentious satisfying and very agreeable.

Tiella Trattoria & Bar is chef Dara Klein's debut restaurant, housed in a 170 year old former Victorian pub on London's iconic Columbia Road. Tiella is an homage to Dara's parents trattoria that she was raised in, Maria Pia's. Drawing on her Pugliese heritage and her upbringing in Emilia-Romagna, Dara's cooking focuses on regional specialities that change with the seasons. You can expect hand rolled pasta, unctuous braises and the best of both Italian and English produce.

There is a 30 cover dining room which you can book, a 15 cover bar which is walk in only and a spacious outdoor terrace. Tiella started as a kitchen residency at The Compton Arms pub, which ran for two years, building a loyal following and acclaim, including a listing in The Good Food Guide and the National Gastropub Awards. Tiella's new permanent site has a buzzy atmosphere with an open plan kitchen, plenty of natural light and beautiful wood panelling throughout.

Cooked with patience and love, the food at Darjeeling Express is a homage to the matriarchs in home kitchens everywhere. The feminine force that held a family together through food.

Traditionally in India, food was first medicinal, to heal, nourish and replenish. Spices were used with a purpose to enhance the health and well being of a person.

This menu is inspired by those principles and we welcome you to our all female kitchen.

Please note that any reservations from 22nd June onwards will be at our new location on 36-40 Rupert Street, London, W1D 6DW.

Trinity reopened in October 2015 with the same ethos, culture and team whilst recreating a new and refreshing backdrop - retaining its sophistication and remaining a restaurant of significance in Clapham.
An alfresco dining area accommodates 16 guests, the dining room seating 40 guests that now have a clear view into an open plan kitchen with banquette seating surrounded by the soft hues of jade green and dusty heather pink.
Staying true to his style of cookery, the new menu will focus on Adam’s interpretation of great classics in a relaxed and approachable setting.
The kitchen presents a four course a la carte menu for a set price of £105 for lunch and £155 for dinner. The wine list continues to offer great value with the Chef's Cellar List (just add VAT and corkage), increasing both our quantity and quality and a overall extension to the main wine list of up to 400 bins now on display in the feature wine cellar on the ground floor.

Booked with a 30% discount so that always helps. The food was good arrived promptly and tasted delicious. The portions are in line with what restaurant provides - yes it feels small but go to any European or South American cuisine eatery and they will offer the same. The service was good and they were weren’t overly fussy and easy to get the attention of. I would recommend

We had a fantastic Saturday dinner at Flesh & Buns. The food was excellent — full of flavor, beautifully presented, and great for sharing. The buns were a particular highlight, and everything we tried was delicious. The atmosphere was lively and fun without feeling overwhelming, making it a great choice for a family dinner. Service was friendly, attentive, and efficient throughout the evening. A really enjoyable experience from start to finish. Definitely a place we’d happily return to when in London. Highly recommended!

I’d been wanting to come here for a long time after hearing so many good reviews, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The service was outstanding throughout. Our server, Mel, was fantastic — always on hand to talk us through the menu, recommend dishes and suggest combinations. And the food was incredible! If you like Caribbean food, 2210 takes it to another level. There were four of us and we ordered a selection of starters, a main each and several sides, then shared everything between us. Every single dish was a 10/10 — genuinely not one thing we wouldn’t order again. I can’t recommend this place enough. Great food, great service and a brilliant experience all round. I’ll definitely be back — next on the list is their Caribbean-style Sunday lunch!
