This place is wonderfully unusual for a few reasons: they serve Belarusian food, the menu was created using the chef’s mother’s recipes, they have a large variety of infused vodkas, and the decor is reminiscent of a German beer hall. Their pan fried dumplings and borscht are both great options, and they incorporate beautiful layers of color into their seven-layer salad and “Herring Under a Fur Coat” dish. This is a really fun place to start a night out with strong drinks and new foods.

Top Chef finalist Gregory Gourdet is cooking up delicious Asian-inspired dishes in a stunning restaurant space on the top floor of The Nines (swanky) hotel. All of their dishes—but, in particular, the sushi and pork belly—are really delicious, albeit pricey, so this is a good spot for a special occasion. Their adjoining bar has a deck with a sensational view of the city (it’s incredible at sunset), and they make delicious cocktails, so you could easily come here just for the bar experience.

Some of the most breathtaking 360-degree views of Portland’s skyline are from Portland City Grill’s dining room (or lounge). One of Rose City’s most iconic restaurants is (oddly) located atop a downtown office building, on the 30th floor of the US Bancorp Tower. It’s stunning to come here during the day or at night, with two completely different views to take in. They have a full dining room serving USDA Prime steaks, fresh Hawaiian and Alaskan seafood, a variety of other proteins, and even sushi. There are no reservations for their lounge, but their bar menu is pretty popular, most of all their cheeseburger (with bulleit bourbon steak sauce) and the option to add “Oregonzola” cheese. And not only do they have an all-day happy hour on Sundays, but they offer what Portlandian’s call a “reverse happy hour” menu, with happy hour prices available from nine to close (nightly).

When you walk into this classic steakhouse that’s been operating for over sixty years—with waiters in tuxedos—you’re transported to another time. Wooden beams, a brick fireplace, and red leather booths feel like a storied steakhouse mixed with an old hunting lodge.
