On entering the Bird in Hand, I was welcomed by all the staff I encountered. Once seated, I was offered the menu and asked if I wanted a drink. The drink, a Cosmopolitan, arrived quickly and was delicious. When the food was delivered a Cajun chicken burger, it was piping hot as were the accompanying crispy chips. The chicken was very tasty and the heat of the dressing was nicely balanced by the coleslaw and pickles which were served with it. I would definitely recommend this dish. The serving staff were aware of when I had finished the course, cleared the used items promptly and, after offering the dessert menu, which I was too replete to take advantage of, allowed me the space and time to relax before serving the coffee. If you enjoy good food, well presented and cooked in a friendly environment then the Bird in Hand is the place to be.

We were very well taken care of. We had a drink outside to begin with as we were early. Menus were brought out to us to peruse and when we went in to be seated we were given a quiet area away from some work that was going on. We had the right amount of attention and care to ensure that we had a pleasant experience. We passed on starters but the main courses and desserts were all very nice. Parking was a bit tricky as the whole area seemed rather congested but we found the spaces allocated to the pub eventually although the access to them was not very well signposted. The pub has a lovely outlook with a large green opposite and would be nice for a walk.

Wonderful riverside pub with a welcoming ambience and stylishly decorated interior. The food and service was outstanding. Even though the restaurant was busy the staff couldn’t have been more attentive. We had roast dinners which were delicious as was the chocolate tart for dessert. And they were also very welcoming of our two dogs. All in all would definitely recommend and I look forward to going back there soon

I have been coming to the Green Oak for a number of years. I am delighted to confirm that after a period of mediocrity it’s now firmly back in the great category. Regularly meet up with old work colleagues who now seem to favour the Green Oak for our get together. Food is of a good standard consistently, but the real USP is the staff always a different person but always the same outstanding service friendly welcoming warm. Whoever is responsible for interview and selection well done, don’t ever drop your standard it’s what makes the difference.

Went with the wife for a joint birthday dinner. The welcome was great. The food was just awesome, very tasty and well presented. The waiting staff were friendly and attentive. Really enjoyed our impromptu visit, food was excellent, staff very friendly, though it was quite difficult to grab someone's attention to order another drink. Also it was very dark I needed my torch to see the menu, however we had a great table it was busy and the menu was great, we chose the set menu at £30pp there was plenty of food and we really enjoyed the vegetarian options on the menu.
