The food and service were excellent. We appreciated the strict observance of Covid space precautions. My fish dish - black bass with small beans and pickled fennel was the best thing I have eaten in a long time. Flavorful but not too rich. I loved it.
Service as always was outstanding. Staff is top notch, polite, respectful and professional. We are regulars at Magdalena’s and unfortunately this dining experience was slightly underwhelming as far as food was concerned. Our Hamachi fish appetizer was slightly fishy, the octopus app was very small and sea bass entree was flavorless. We suppose the chef was not on his game that evening. The desserts were amazingly good. We’ll definitely return regardless.
High prices for food that tried too hard to be innovative and missed the mark. It wasn’t bad, it wasn’t great. Was just blah. We did the chef’s tasting menu at $90/pp to sample different bites, but I can’t name one memorable thing. From interiors to service to menu, it all felt a bit confused, tired and dated.
Great birthday dinner
We had a great birthday dinner here. Everyone loved the food and ambiance. We are highly appreciative of the restaurant honoring our request for a certain table type and for doing all the birthday things. This is definitely one of the best restaurants in Baltimore, and perfect for a special occasion. We will be back and next time will stay at the beautiful Ivy hotel.

I made the reservation to celebrate my friend’s retirement. We were both extremely pleased with the food and the ambiance.
Magdalena is most definitely a fine dining restaurant. Its location in the former basement of the Ivy Hotel's historic mansion is intimate and elegant. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. I especially enjoyed the sweet potato ginger soup. It was served with a small piece of pork terrine and a few other embellishments. What was special was the way the server poured the soup around, but not over the ingredients. My only complaint was that the menu selection was fairly limited. Since I don't care for fish, my options were even more limited.
In our opinion, Magdelena is the #1 Restaurant in Baltimore, and our favorite for special occasions. The food is always amazing. The service is perfect. In addition, the decor in is warm, and the ambiance is beautifully tasteful without being ostentatious. The restaurant is divided into several spaces, each with 3-5 tables, making for a private, quiet feeling in which it's easy to carry on a conversation. What more can you ask for?

Our dinner experience and service was fantastic, the food is amazing and our waiter was excellent.
The only bad experience was at the bar before dinner. We were the only couple at the bar and there was one bartender. He was aloft and quite rude. He never introduced himself nor welcome us. He seems overwhelmed with the drink orders from the restaurant. We waited for drinks without being addressed, then he ran out of martini glasses, and when I asked for water he told me it would “be a few minutes.” I am disappointed in his attitude and non welcoming personality. He didn’t speak to us at all except to take our drink order. We weren’t looking for a new best friend but one would think a bartender would have a personality and at least be friendly.
This is a can’t miss restaurant in Baltimore. The new menu allows for tasting of many different dishes. The flavors are impeccable and the presentation, ambiance, and service are outstanding.
I have dined at Magdalena’s for regular dinners and special occasions. The service is always warm and attentive but never intrusive. It starts from the valet and carries throughout the meal until you are back at the valet. The drink options are wonderful with and without alcohol. Our party often includes those with a vegan diet. Chef’s creations for entrees and desserts are on par with the regular menu options. Will be back.

First night with new tasting menu with wine pairings. Service friendly but chaotic with food and wine arriving in an uncoordinated fashion. Several times with no explanation. Food sometimes arriving cold. Food was good but not great. They were over-reaching and failed
There were very few options and they all required a Pre-Fixe choice. Very expensive. The steak was salty. The interior of the restaurant was very nice.
Brilliant in every way, staff professional but friendly, ambience relaxed, and the food by Chef Mark? Outstanding is not a good enough description. A gastronomic experience to remember! Highly recommend.

What a find in the Mt. Vernon area of Baltimore! Amazing and creative menu: you have never had ceviche like this; the mushroom lasagna side dish looked like a hazelnut wafer cookie but tasted worlds better; and I would not normally order parsnip soup, but I am so glad we did. Beautiful little spot, very intimate, very pretty -- perfect for a great date. Amazing wine and whiskey lists too. Prices can add up, so this is more of a special occasion location for us, but we will be back.

When I entered the restaurant, there wasn't a hostess at the front, so I asked the bartender if I could sit at the bar, to which he said yes, and didn't engage in further assistance (e.g. asking if I had a reservation or letting me know that he'll get the hostess). It was a Sunday evening, the restaurant wasn't packed, so I was taken aback at the lack of service at first. a few minutes later, the hostess arrived, grabbed our coats and walked us to our table. Overall, the food was fine - not great - and the service was fine. I was expecting a bit more class and comfort upon arrival - the experience that I envisioned reading Magdalena's website and on social media didn't really match what I experienced in person.

I arrived early and sat at the bar and said hello to the bartender and got a dismissive grunt back from him and he said he was busy and would get back with me shortly.

My wife arrived and got the same cold response from the bartender.

All the food was wonderful....but the ceviche was AMAZING!

When the bill came it was as expected pricy, but we knew that going into the meal.
Overall for the food and dinning space, Magdalena hit the mark.....but for service and price to value....would say absolutely not worth the $$$$.
This is probably one of the most expensive restaurants in Baltimore and for the price you would expect everything to be top notch.
