Magdalena is a lovely, elegant, and delicious spot for a quiet, romantic dinner or festive celebration. It's a lovely setting ( we sat outside), the food is upscale and delicious, and the wait staff is friendly but professional. It is expensive, but we thought worth it.
Highly recommend it for a special occasion.
My girlfriend and I dined here for a belated birthday celebration and had a wonderful meal! The waiter was just the right balance of being helpful and knowledgeable with no stuffiness which, if you ask me, is a very dated and silly restaurant trend. The breads there are my favorite and the creative butter pairings. The food was delicious we had scallops and halibut respectively…both got clean plate club honors.
This is a great restaurant because it’s fancy without feeling fancy or stuffy. Every single person from the doormen to the other staff are so friendly and it made for a great overall experience.
Absolutely worth it! We had visited Charleston the night before and Magdalena was similarly impressive, beautiful, and delicious. A must for a Baltimore visit.
The food is so very tasty, and presented in a beautiful style. Every dining room has a personality of its own, and the courtyard is so lovely for out door dining. The lighted bar is so welcoming and the wine room is particularly handsome. Dining at Magdalena is a treat for all the senses.
We had a really nice dinner here for my boyfriend’s birthday! Very attentive service, great food, and knowledgeable staff. He particularly enjoyed their extensive whiskey list and selection of whiskey flights!
This was our first visit to Magdalena and we look forward to returning. The food and service were excellent and the ambiance (low noise level and 60's music was relaxing).
This is a high end restaurant for Baltimore, where good ambiance, service and food should be expected with commensurate high prices. With a 5:30 PM seating we had no competition for the staff''s attention, and as such were very well served. We began with ceviche, which, to my taste lacked good, full fish flavors. Our fish entrees were well prepared, mine with a tasty, properly tart lemon butter sauce for my halibut, which, however, did not have have as much taste of the fish as I would have wished. My two companions said their salmon dishes were excellent. I agreed with one companion that the rhubarb & apple crisp had little rhubarb in the taste and with my other companion that there should have been more of the ice cream accompanying that dish. By and large our dinner, a return after two or three experiences in this restaurant before the covid epidemic, was a enjoyable experience for the three of us and gives us reason to return in the future and continue to recommend the restaurant to others.
First time at this fine dining restaurant. Great food, service and atmosphere. Great palce for a special occassion. Steak was great as was the bronzini. I recoomend the burrata appetizer, neat touch with cherry tomatos and strawberries.
Such a intimate space that we would love to add as one of our frequent places.
Magdalena's has never disappointed. It is the best restaurant in Baltimore. The creativity of the dishes, the merging of flavors, the quality of the ingredients and the quality of the service is unmatched. Every dish we had was beyond superb. We are already looking forward to our next visit.
Magdalena's is truly a fine place to dine!!!! My husband and I celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary there. The food was delicious and the ambiance was awesome!!!! We will be returning soon and highly recommend Magdalena's for fine dining in a relaxed upscale setting.
The food was good, but over priced in my opinion. The service was mediocre. Took much too long for simple items like bread to be brought to the table. Asked for steak to be cooked rare, but received it medium rare (Ask for it to be bloody if you want it to be truly rare).
Always a “go to” for a special occasion. Food, ambiance, service - all outstanding.
Date night with my husband was excellent. We went because of reading about the cocktail Laws & Lillies (and had been to Magdalena before too). The cocktail was beyond stellar.
Literally amazing meal for my birthday
Excellent experience here! Wonderful ambiance, great service, and incredible food. A great place for a special occasion, would absolutely return again.
From the octopus salad to the perfectly cooked wagyu Bavette, I enjoyed every bite at Magdalena. The server was excellent, and the kitchen did not disappoint
Excellent restaurant. Phenomenal service without feeling stuffy. Would definitely go back.
Birthday celebration. The food and atmosphere was great but the waiter kept forgetting things, like our appetizer came out with the entree because it has been sitting out for 30 mins and he admitted it was his mistake. And had to remind him 3 times about a drink order for a cola, simple things like that. I’m going to put it down to he was having a bad day, and not hold it against the restaurant as a whole, because I would definitely recommend it and plan to go back
Amazing experience! Ambiance, food, and drinks were perfect.
We return here and have not been disappointed. Excellent food, outstanding service and a very intimate environment that still manages to be somewhat casual.
Son leaving for the military
This is was a wonderful experience all around. Food, service, and atmosphere was excellent.
Amazing food and service. Pure elegance.
The folks at Magdalena never disappoint. The food and service are both amazing. The food is not only delicious, it’s beautiful. I love me some food art! The ramp risotto and Rohan duck were so good, I can’t stop thinking about them! Make sure you try the ceviche, it’s heavenly. Thanks Andrew and Nicole for making our 7th anniversary one for the books. Thanks to the kitchen for being awesome! This was our first dinner out since before the pandemic and we felt totally safe, and socially distanced. Well done all around. Best restaurant in Baltimore.
I enjoyed every bit of the Resturant despite having to sit inside because of the weather. Seating was a bit closer then I wanted it to be but it was more than manageable. I left in the description that I was celebrating a birthday but we did not receive any such accommodations. That is my only complaint
We had another great dining experience at Magdalena recently. This time, we tried some sandwiches on the menu. They sounded wonderful, and they were. The burger was one of the best burgers we've ever had. The grilled vegetable and burrata sandwich was outstanding. It tasted ad though it had just come out of the garden. Both, in my opinion, we're best eaten with a knife and fork. My one request is that they step up their dessert menu. We had the Smith Island Cake, which was good, but not to write home about.
We're looking forward to warmer weather and courtyard dining for our next visit.
Lastly, we would be remiss if we didn't mention Dominic as a fantastic server. He does a great job in describing the menu, making recommendations and doing it all with a great smile.
Excellent experience and food. I highly recommend Magdelena as a "must visit" restaurant in Baltimore.
Absolutely an amazing experience. Dominick, our server, was always right on time. Great social distancing and the food was outstanding. Will definitely return soon.
One of the best chefs in the city. This smart intimate spot is a Baltimore gem.
First time eating here. Food and drinks were excellent. My friends and I will be returning.
Food was fantastic. Unfortunately, the heater in the courtyard near us stopped and no one dealt with it. We were pretty cold during most of the meal. Other outside diners had heaters near them. Not sure why the staff didn't bother asking about us or moving another heater so we could be warm. It was a really big oversight.
Excellent as always
As good as it gets. Creative, well prepared and presented food, excellent service, and we could hear each other. Highly recommended.
Magdalena has always been one of our favorite Baltimore restaurants. In fact I celebrated my 50th birthday there with 6 friends. While I know Covid has been tough to recover from, the food was not up to their standards. My husbands duck was overcooked and came with nothing on the plate as far as color. A side of red cabbage or something to make the plate more appetizing. The side of carrots were undercooked and tough. My scallops were cooked to perfection but the dish just was just a bit of an odd combination. The kimchi cabbage was tough and undercooked. We will be back as our waiter and service were great and hopefully it will be back to its better days!
So good to be back inside this restaurant. Everyone put their best foot forward and made our dining experience a great one. The caviar and leg of lamb were fantastic. Can't wait to return.
The food was delicious though perhaps a wee bit (10% maybe) overpriced. The service, however, makes up for it tenfold. Everyone was kind and attentive, though not in an annoying way. The experience was first, the food second (though still quite good).
Magdalena in its previous form was one of our favorites. Now reinvented we have been there twice separated by COVID shutdown and we like the new format which while less formal is actually more intimate. The staff and service are outstanding and the food excellent. The wine list is deep and excellent and there are a number of good choices in the $50-$100 range but be careful, some of the markups are 2.5 to 3X retail. In summary, perhaps our favorite upscale restaurant in Bmore, still.
The service was amazing. The food was also very good. The appetizers were our favs.
