Mama's has been touted for being wonderful, tho we found it much less than that. While the quality of the food was very good, it didn't match our expectations. The kampachi entree was dry, requiring the sauce that came with it, and definitely not worth the $73 price tag. The octopus appetizer was tasty but tiny, much smaller than its $32 price. Finally, we were disappointed in the $84 bottle of chablis. The service was adequate but also less than expected. All in all, a disappointing and very expensive (even by Hawaiian standards) meal. We will not be returning.

It was all great. Portions were perfect size and service was exceptional. Definitely a stretch for our budget, but a special occasion! Will be back next year for another birthday!

It seems everywhere we go, the whole world knows about Mama's Fish House. It would be cliches to write about the food, service, ambience, but the cliches are true. The only personal note I would add is that they put a personalized card on our table to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary. Who else does that and serves exceptional food?

A Maui staple. We celebrated our honeymoon here and Alexa made the experience so special for us. The staff at Mamas are incredibly knowledgeable, attentive, and overall wonderful people. The food is incredible, but only a small part of what makes Mamas so special. If you can get a reservation, you won’t regret it.

We enjoyed a beautiful evening at Mama’s Fish House. The food is outstanding and the setting is incredible. There is a nice variety of food options from fresh fish to beef. We shared appetizers and the entrees were generous portions. The service is top notch and we will return next time we visit Maui.

Mike, our waiter, was fantastic. He made great suggestions, was funny and attentive without being too interruptive. The food was amazing and we all left talking about “the next time” we’ll go to Mama’s. Thank you for another incredible dining experience.

Mama’s Fish House is a must do when in Maui. It was definitely our highlight of our time there. Plan ahead because you may find it completely booked when you arrive. We booked over6 months in advance.

2nd time at Mama’s and it did not disappoint!, we celebrated our daughter’s birthday and she got to have her favorite Mushroom soup!, dessert and entrees were unbeatable all around. We hope to get to enjoy Mama’s again during our next Maui visit!

Mamma’s a class act. Went for a birthday celebration and they made me feel special. My wine order was late to the table and they took it off the bill which wasn’t necessary but since it is fine dining, it was nice. We waited in the lounge area until our table was ready, the bartender was so nice. Delicious food 😋

Attention to details was outstanding. From the time we arrived until we left, it was a dining pleasure. The greeters were friendly and gracious. The wait staff were knowledgeable and attentive. Even the valets for parking were friendly and helpful. Our overall experience was just outstanding. While the cost was fairly high, it was worth every penny.

This was our third time at Mama’s fish house over the last 33 years. Best restaurant in Maui. The Ahi & Mahi curry was outstanding and service was top notch! Very hard to walk-in due to the restaurants popularity. Make your reservation via OpenDoor in advance.

Outstanding from ambiance to dessert. The food was what you would expect for a 5 star service, delicious. We were celebrating our anniversary and they made us feel extra special with a little note and added dessert at the end. I made this reservation over a year ago, so book early!

We went the last night of our honeymoon for supper. All of the food we had was full of flavour and very fresh. All of the wait staff were fantastic and very knowledgeable of the menu. The restaurant was nicely decorated and the grounds were beautiful even at night. The only thing we would do different would be to make our reservation for sunset. If you are visiting Maui I would consider Mama’s fish house a must do.

We have been to Mama's many times over the years. The only negative during this dining experience is the huge industrial fan situated right next to our table. It was VERY noisy and very UGLY! Other than that, food was excellent.

Come every year for the best meal of the year. I always go for curry with 3 kinds of fish so I can taste ahi, mahi mahi and apokapaka. It never lets me down!

We have eaten at Mama's many times over the years. This time we ate here 2 nights in a row. This was the first night. The server was great but the food took forever to come (just ordered starter and main course). Starter took about 45 min and when it came, it was not hot and over cooked. Same with the main course, about a 45 min wait and over-cooked. (both of our dishes). I have to say, for a $300 tab (no alcohol) for 2 people, I expect more. Definitely not up to the standard we have come to know and expect from Mama's. (Note: the second night was better so it seems to be hit and miss)

If you’ve heard Mama’s is “overrated” we recommend you go to the effort of making a reservation and save up your eating out chits for an incredible dining experience. It is well worth it. Even if you just want to try the freshest seafood on the island, you will not be disappointed. Talented staff, unpretentious service and ample servings.
