Delicious food in a romantic setting. I had the truffle pasta and they were very generous with the shaved truffles. The beef carpaccio was tasty and came out more like a salad with arugula, capers and truffles. My date had the frutti di mare and he said it was very delicious as well. A great experience overall.
We returned after many years absent, so good memories loomed latge. Overall it was okay, but not outstanding. Off putting aspects: a loose light bulb flashing, a tepid rabbit pasta, second bottle of mineral water poured without asking, grappa substitution without checking first. A nice place, but not spectacular.
Excellent food and service!
Great food, excellent service, friendly atmosphere and an authentic menu.
My friends and I had a wonderful time. Our waiter was very attentive, answered all our questions and offered, without our asking, to give us samples of wine to try to see which one we liked best. Very unusual now a days. All of our dinners with exceptional. Atmosphere is elegant but very relatable.....tablecloths, flowers, candles.....love it.
This was the best meal I’ve had in Boston. It was a little pricey but still amazing. The osso buco was flawless.
By far one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had!
Best restaurant in north end!
The menu changes daily. The evening we went our food was very good! We had appetizers, main meals and deserts; everything was delicious.
Our waitress was extremely good and the support staff was very good. I will definitely dine there again.
Mamma Maria is a classy restaurant with an elegant italian menu and a good wine list. It feels like you are entering a grand house for dinner and they manage to make a large restaurant feel intimate by seating people in different rooms. It was sometimes difficult to find a waiter and I never did get more bread to soak up the outstanding truffle sauce - a tragedy! It is expensive, though it delivers for the price.
We thought the food was good, not great. On the pricey side. Atmosphere is very nice and cozy in the North End. The staff was very friendly and attentive.
Lovely , gracious wait staff.
Food delicious, especially osso buco
A beautiful, satisfying dinner.
Amazing food and staff! The ambiance, setting and decor is perfect for a wonderful dining experience. Great for a date or celebrating a special anniversary!!
I loved our evening at Mama Maria’s. Wonderful food. Beautiful atmosphere. Fabulous wines. There were so many great dessert choices, I couldn’t make up my mind. I requested a recommendation and my waiter surprised me by bringing both of my favorites. We eat out at very nice restaurants frequently. However, I have never been surprised in this exceptional way. Thank you!!
Absolutely great food and service. Completed a perfect anniversary night.
Went with daughter while staying downtown. Food was delicious and plentiful. Staff was courteous and attentive. Great night overall b
We were a party of 4. We love great food and you guys delivered big time! We will be back!
When we arrived our coats we're checked and we were immediately taken upstairs to a cozy table for two at the window that overlooked the financial district. Our server Thomas was fantastic. We went with every recommendation he gave us and we didn't regret it. The Oso Buco and my fiancè had the the pasta con sugo. Both dishes were incredible. The bottle of wine that Thomas paired for us beautifully complimented both dishes. We will definitely be back again next time we are in Boston!
Repas tout simplement divin. Excellent. Parfait!!!!
Great New Year’s Eve dinner. Wonderful atmosphere. Conversation easy among six people. Five stars plus.
Visited on New Years Eve. Poor value for the cost!
The waiter was very attentive to the dairy allergy we had in our party. He was able to tell us what had dairy and what didn't.
This was our first visit to Mamma Maria's, and it won't be our last. The wait staff was attentive and not overbearing. The food was amazing and of good portions - not so much that you couldn't eat it, and not so little that you left hungry. I highly recommend the Pear and Prosciutto appetizer and the Osso Bucco.
The food and service is always wonderful - we have been going here for years when we visit Boston and we make sure we make reservations.
Great dinner for my partner...for me, the sliced Italian steak was super salty. Regardless, it was a beautiful table and romantic. Would come back...just go light on the salt next tome.
One of best meals in boston. Can't wait to go back. The lobster raviolis was the best I have ever had.
We celebrated my daughters Birthday with a nice Italian meal. We had a very good waiter which made the night very enjoyable. The food was excellent we loved the truffle pasta and the lobster ravioli. The Veal never disappoints, all our appetizers and meals were very good.
I wasn’t impressed with Mamma Maria’s. I expected great service and food after reading the reviews, but we were disappointed. Service was just okay. The food also was just okay. I was expecting dishes that you were lapping up the sauce - you didn’t want to leave anything behind, but that was not the case. I would not go back. I would not recommend it unfortunately.
Really enjoy Mamma Maria, can’t wait to go back
The food was fantastic and so were the wines our server suggested. The oyster appetizer was out of this world. Looking forward to going back.
Nice dinner. Beter than expected. Real european Italian.
One of the best restaurants I have ever been too. The food was amazing, especially the home made pasta and Osso Buco. Our server/bartender Tom was great! I highly recommend eating here and would request Tom again.
Great food, wine and service. Their attention to detail is one of the reasons this is one of my favorite Boston restaurants and my favorite North End restaurant by a wide margin.
As always great food and great service Never dissapointed
Always great at Mamma Maria's - food is delicious and service is just right.
Delightful dinner and service. Menu is spectacular with great selection of wines. Service was attentive without hovering. My new favorite in the north end
The atmosphere is just amazing. And they have the Best Ossobuco in town
Wow was my meal delicious! You KNOW it's perfect when the salad--arugula with tangerine slices--made my toes curl. I swooned over my lobster agnolotti. My dinner companions were equally thrilled with their choices--the black pasta with uni and shrimp, suckling pig and rabbit pasta. We were all full but HAD to have dessert so I enjoyed a flaky apple tart and they --classic tiramisu (kicked up a notch so said my friend) and a rich chocolate cake. I was grateful to be dining on the lower level so I only had to waddle a few steps out the door!
This was my first visit to Mamma Maria in a while, and the whole experience was just as I remembered--a satisfying and enjoyable night out. So often restaurants with big reputations fail to live up to their past success. I am so glad that Mamma Maria can be counted on for consistent excellency.
Delicious and authentic Italian. Very fresh and well prepared. Attentive but not overbearing service. Elegant setting in old north end home. On the pricey side but you get what you pay for here.
We were staying at the Marriott Custom House and wanted a good small Italian restaurant on the north end. Mama Maria fit the bill and was great.
