Exceptional establishment with pristine quality of food service and ambience. The carpaccio with black winter truffle was one of the best I've had hands down including Italy.the uni lobster and squid ink pasta was a holy trinity of delicacy. Will be back for sure!
Always enjoy when your waiter tells a story relating to the region to\he orientated in.
The Osso Boco was outstanding. The waiter was magnificent. We went for my husband's birthday and they gave him a complementary dessert with happy birthday written in cinnamon. It was very thoughtful. I would highly recommend Mamma Maria's.
Had the most wonderful meal. There was four of us and each one thought the food was delicious. Our waitress was pleasant and the desserts - well lets just say yummy. I highly recommend this restaurant and would dine there again and again.
The evening started off well. The host found our reservation and seated us promptly. We had a lovely table next to some windows, and our neighbors were a couple from Ireland. They were a very pleasant pair to chat with. Our server was very much on his game, and he was helpful in making choices. We started with the pear and prosciutto appetizer. My wife had Lamb Three Ways, and it was excellent. I had scallops and pasta which was a wonderful dish. No dessert because we were too full, but the Irish couple shared a panna cotta which they loved. The whole evening was gently paced and never rushed.
The restaurant was located in an old house and was tastefully decorated
Altogether a lovely evening.
My husband and I arrived 30 minutes early but we’re seated immediately. The staff were extremely professional and friendly. Our menu choices were phenomenal. Very well prepared. Can’t wait to go back.
Wonderful place - great food and the service was outstanding.
I brought my friend to dinner here because she is a serious foodie, and I knew she would be impressed.
She was. We both cleaned our plates and enjoyed sitting in the terrace room overlooking the North End.
Our server was great and I left stuffed and satisfied.
Mamma Maria never disappoints.
This was my second time here at this lovely restaurant. The service is superb and the food is fresh, delicious and inventive. A neighborhood gem perfect for a special occasion or quiet night out with an intimate group. Would absolutely recommend and I will be back!
Great service, food was okay ish but definitely not worth the price.
It was great
The tuna appetizer had little flavor. Our waiter was a bit smug about his knowledge of things and too personal with us about his family.
Rafael was excellent.
Fantastic food. The scallops had a perfect seared on them with an outstanding texture. The mushrooms are phenomenal and their Terran Ashe was outstanding. The service was very good. No wait time with an excellent mood amongst all of the staff. Made you feel very welcomed.
A wonderful restaurant all around. A "must" destination for Boston dining!
Some of the best Italian food in the north end. Everything was delicious and I can’t wait to go again
Fantastic food. Many of my friends went there during the dine out week. Definitely will go again
Great service, felt like I was in Italy again!
I highly recommend this place. It's pricey but high quality. We went for Dine Out Boston and it was really a positive experience. You're seated in what feels like someone's home but with your own table. You can have quiet conversation. Great spot for a date.
From the moment we arrived and were seated at a table stuck in between three others, to the end of the night, when we waited over 15 minutes for the check, this experience was terrible. I understand it was Restaurant Week and I know it was a Friday night, but everything was ridiculous, except for the busboy who seemed to be the only person doing his job correctly.
The food was ridiculously overpriced, banquet food. Remember your cousin Donna’s wedding in 1994? Yea that is what that food tasted like, but your cousin’s was better. The mozzarella was sour and tasted of plastic for $18, the scallops had no flavor, the beef was right out of a bag and the halibut....oh the halibut. Horrible.
Let’s talk about the service for a second. The waiter who greeted us didn’t arrive until almost 10 minutes after we were seated and when my husband ordered a beer, he said “I don’t know that word” so my husband had to point to the beer on the menu. My aperol spritz was fine if you made it at home with ice from the freezer and barely any aperol. Again, the waiter disappeared and didn’t show up for another long period of time.
We ordered our food and when the bread arrived it was stale, crumbly and a waste. If this is how you make up for the fact that food is horribly overpriced and just plain terrible, good job.
I have nothing good to say about this restaurant, except for the busboy and woman who greeted us at the door. They were both on their game, but the wait staff and kitchen are terrible.
P.S. A woman fell down a step during our meal and knocked over a table and it was the guests who rushed to assist her, not the staff.
Mama Maria's food was by faaaar the best I ever had in north end, like really!
Wonderful experience to help us celebrate our Mom’s birthday dinner. Food, service and ambiance were all spot on for this Northend classic.
Very wonderful service and professional wine recommendation
Dine out Boston week. Had an outstanding poached pear and prosciutto app with an equally impressive mushroom ravioli and chocolate torte $38
Awesome place will definitely be back, great job!!
Awesome private room at top of the stairs overlooking the park in front of restaurant. Fantastic service and great variety of unique menu items to pick from. Great wine suggestions as well.
Food was delicious. Ambiance is a little weird - feels like your in an old house, but not necessarily in a charming way. Waiter got cork in our wine and was a little obnoxious, but food service was fast.
Came here for wife’s bday, what a special place! Great food, cool old house makes for awesome atmosphere. Will be back!
Unfortunately my guest got a very sick 20 mins after we left. The only thing we had different was a cream based dessert.
The service and food was amazing!
Nice location. Slow service !!
I really enjoy coming to this place. My dinner with my fiancé was outstanding. The food was amazing we will definitely come back.
The food was good, the service excellent. The only uncomfortable part was the look we got from the male host...making me think we didn’t dress fancy enough. I was fine, my son was wearing slacks and a polo..made me uncomfortable enough to look up what “smart casual” was.
We felt mixed about our meal. The main dishes were good, but appetizers and desserts were bland. Service and wine were excellent so I’d place responsibility for the lowish rating squarely with the chef. It was a birthday meal and we hoped to eat something really special.
It was the first time I visited Mamma Maria with 5 other people. Tables are close together but no one really pays attention to others. It's a very historic building and within view of Paul Revere's house. I'm a history buff and that was special to me to be in that neighborhood.
The staff were very good and attentive. We did not wait at all for our reserved table. We were never rushed by our waiter or ignored...he was the perfect server and very knowledgeable about the menu.
The food was everything we expected. Excellent Italian food!
The setting as adorable - you feel like you are in someone's front room but you sense the vitality of the other spaces with further tables. The pasta with lobster and veal ragu/mushroom was divine.
Wonderful venue full of charm and character. Wine list is broad, though not deep, with a decent range of price points. Food was well prepared. Wish that there were a few more pasta options on the menu, but that’s a small complaint overall.
We had an absolutely perfect evening at Mamma Maria celebrating my son's 26th birthday. The food was fresh and delicious---a joy to eat. Our server was attentive but not overbearing---the courses were paced perfectly. She also had a wealth of knowledge about the wine list and all the wine pairings she suggested were right on target. She actually made our meal extra special with her charm and professionalism---Mamma Maria is lucky to have her as part of their team.
Mamma Maria's was a fabulous experience. Everything we ordered was delicious (tuna tartare and duck for apps; lamb three ways, suckling pig, and rabbit pasta for mains) and served at the perfect temperature. The wait staff was very attentive and pleasant. Really enjoyed our meal/evening and will definitely return in the future.
