"The Aristocrat of Soups" from an age-old recipe
New England Seafood Chowder
Lotsa fresh fish and clams, the "white stuff" served with Westminster Oyster Crackers
The service and food were excellent. The waiter was helpful in determining our selection.
We decided to visit as it was restaurant week. The special of the day was a three course lunch for $22 but the selections were not of interest for us. So we ordered broiled scallops and fish and chips. The scallops were tough and overcooked. The fish and chips were fair to mediocre although the fries were crisp and tender.
We're regulars here but this day was definitely not a good one and maybe restaurant week is not such a "big deal" after all. They have ample staff here so it was a surprise to be so disappointed with the meal. Hopefully our next visit is much better
The clam chowder soup is thick, filling and tasty. I enjoyed the fried clam strips and, my husband enjoyed his shrimp scampi. I had an orange gin blossom (special of the day) and, it was quite nice.
Started with the fried oysters which were delicious. My husband ordered the Alaskan cod which he liked very much. He did not, however, like the pesto sauce that was served with it. When I tasted it, I agreed with his assessment; it tasted like soap. I ordered the clam bake which looked Devine, but was over cooked in an extremely salty broth of butter and old bay. The best thing in that bowl was the corn! The shrimp were so overcooked they were rubbery as were the clams.
Usually a fave place of ours but tonight, some issues. Oyster sampler was no longer on the menu. No problem, I ordered individually. Then, our server informed me someone forgot to make mignonette. Did I want to wait until it was made? That's the best part, but I ate them with cocktail sauce. Shrimp cocktail & oysters served ice cold- very refreshing! My clambake with crab, clams, shrimp, corn, potatoes, (coleslaw) was an absolute feast in the Old Bay broth!! It was a huge portion so I shared with my hubby. He was not a fan of cleaning/eating a whole lobster...said too much work. Then, we asked for clambake to go, but it's an item only for dine-in. Ok, Cioppino to go. No longer on the menu. Our server even went to ask if it could be made. We took fish & chips for our to go dinner. We will return, though!
Four of us had lunch yesterday and we were all very pleased with the selection and quality of the food. Our server was very friendly and pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. The restaurant has an appropriate nautical theme although the interior is rather dark, especially during warmer seasons.
The Garlic Shrimp Scampi was delicious. My friend and I shared the funnel cake sundae for dessert and that also was great.
Honestly was a really nice place. Well run, good service. It just didn’t blow my socks off. I would go back. The one thing I did like is the menu had stuff on there you don’t see everyday
always have a great dining experience

Very good food and service!
Celebrated our 26th anniversary and gonna make sure we stay married so we can eat there again! It’s one of those places that wows you unexpectedly….BRAVO!
Great service and atmosphere. Will definitely recommend!
Great food and lots of selection. The server was spot on with her recommendations for a meal my wife would love.
As always, meals were delicious and service was superb with Kyla.
Great food, customer service and ambiance.
great food great drinks great staff moderately priced
For a Monday evening, the restaurant was very busy. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable and as efficient as she could be considering the circumstances. The food was delicious, as always. We will be in again soon.
My food was excellent! Enough for leftovers! I am looking forward to returning!
They’re food is always good, have never had a “bad” meal or experienced bad service.
I would recommend the Marblehead Chowder House for a family night out.
First time here food was amazing and will definitely be back again soon
Excellent food as always. Anthony, our sever, was phenomenal. Can’t wait to return.
Food was very good asked for brown butter and never got it. Not sure if server even knew what it was.
My brother wanted to treat us to a good dinner at the end of his two week visit. Marblehead was my first choice and we were not disappointed. Everything was great.
Everything was delish. We sat in the bar, we had a drink and met someone friends. It was perfect.
Food is always delicious! One of our places
The appetizer, entree and dessert choices were awesome. Pretty much you can get what you want prepared just how you like it. Everything was delicious I got the peel and eat shrimp snd the seafood au gratin which was fantastic. Looking forward to going again soon.
Nathan our server was attentive and paced our meal well. We love this restaurant and frequent it often. The food is consistently well prepared and they accommodate special orders or omissions without a problem. I’m allergic to citrus but love seafood, here I can substitute lemon with garlic. Great dinner on a work night late… few restaurants in the area have late hours.
Had a fine dinner (6-8pm). The lump crab meat appetizer is among the best in the area, large sweet fresh crab... lumps not "shreads"
My wife had the beer battered shrimp in a basket, served hot .
I have the shrimp stuffed with crabmeat.
Waiter was efficient and attentive keeping us comfortable.
Drinks were very good (gin gimlets) if a bit high priced
Everything was excellent. We had Devon as our server and she was superb as always. Great to be back eating at the Marblehead since the pandemic.
Everything was prepared well. Always a reliably good experience.
As always, the food was amazing and the service was excellent.

Enjoyable experience. Delicious food and drinks . Service
was excellent. Highly recommend it, if you’re looking for good seafood!
Food and service is always friendly and excellent.
The food was good, the entree was excellent but I don’t understand why the baked potatoes are never fluffy inside. Our server did her job, but nothing more. She handed us the special board and walked away. Never smiled, etc. we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, which they knew—because the hostess wished us a happy anniversary. We were seated in a nice small room and enjoying our anniversary when a party of 12-14 was seated in there as well. They were celebrating a surprise retirement party, so naturally very loud and boisterous. Because the room was small, we could not have any type of conversation and be heard. We decided to skip tea/coffee/desert.
Lobster pie was delicious with lots of nice chunks of lobster with potatoes and cream sauce in a flaky crust.
The Lobster Bisque and the scallops were good as was the bread. The French onion soup not as good as the bisque. The crab cakes were smallish and quite bland as was the crab dip. The Caesar salad were also pretty tasteless as the dressing was not good and little cheese. To me, this place has gone down in quality over the years.
On the bright side, our server was outstanding.
Food was excellent and service was prompt and efficient. I had the glazed tuna (a new item) and it was excellent
