We are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with bar service and an extensive wine and cocktail selection.
Mixto offers outdoor dining with a South Beach Miami ambiance during the spring, summer & fall when the weather permits.
Mixto was our choice for night 3 of Restaurant Week, and it did not disappoint. We were seated on time for our 7:30pm reservation. We were placed by a drafty door, but thankfully the restaurant wasn't crowded, so the hostess was kind enough to take us to a new table upstairs.
Our server was Vincente, and he was very friendly and attentive. Anytime we needed anything, he just seemed to show up at the table. My choices were limited, as I don't eat meat and have a shellfish allergy. I went with the hearts of palm salad, the vegetable paella, and the tres leches cake. My boyfriend chose the sautéed shrimp, the lomo salteado, and the bananas foster empanada. The Restaurant Week special also came with a choice of soup, and we both chose lentil soup.
I really liked the lentil soup, and felt like my other choices were okay, but my boyfriend was blown away by everything- the soup, the sautéed shrimp, and the lomo salteado. He said that we absolutely must return, and that it was one of his best overall dining experiences. The desserts were pretty good as well, and as far as drinks- I went with the coconut mojito and he chose the rum punch...both were excellent. I definitely look forward to coming back and ordering from the main menu with more options availa
Not completely authentic cuban but as close as it gets outside of Miami! Really enjoyed the plantains, tostones with shrimp enchilada, lomo salteada, and scallops with risotto! Definitely should try the coconut flan!
It was our anniversary & we were seated upstairs which I thought would be a little more upscale but we were sitting in front of s large screen tv with the Eagles-Saints game playing. Needless to say it was hard to compete with the game. I enjoyed my dinner but my husband said his was just ok. We waited quite a while for our drinks because as our waiter said there was only one bartender on duty at the downstairs bar. They did not carry sherry at the bar which is unheard of at a Spanish restaurant. Finally the service was unprofessional. While our server was polite at table, he and other employees, some on duty, some off duty, gathered at the bar in full view of customers to chat each other up. As you can imagine, it was difficult to get his attention.
food was outstanding as per usual, but the hostess was refusing to sit us in the spot we originally requested while we made our reservation. she mentioned it was "completely full" upstairs, she was trying to give us a spot that was literally in the middle of where people were walking. we insisted and turns out there were spots, she was not very nice, kind or personable so we did not appreciate that. other than that, everything was ok!
Service was good. Mojito was nothing special. The flank steak was good, cooked perfect but was never given a steak knife.
The appetizers all looked so great that we decided to make a meal out of them. Unfortunately our server didn’t course our food. All 5 appetizers, cold and hot, arrived on our tiny table for two, at the same time. Educate your staff on how to course the meal so diners don’t feel rushed and can enjoy each item. That being said, the food was good.
Friend came into town
Very good food at a reasonable price. The atmosphere is great
Excellent venue for early New Year's Eve dinner. Service was unusually good. Staff was accommodating and the food, as always, was superb. Love the festive atmosphere.
The food was okay nothing to brag about but the service was horrible!!! We had a lady name nicole (Nickii) with a white blazer on barely came over to check up on us or offer refills etc and got our order wrong. The bus boy was way more of a help and attentive thn the actual waitress.
We went here for an early dinner on New Year's eve. It started off pretty disappointing, as the woman who greeted us at the front desk was surly and acted like we were bothering her. Then another woman took us to our very small table, but the worst part was there was no room between our table and those on either side, meaning there was no room to sit down. We asked for another table, and again had to deal with the annoyed response. Once we settled in to our new table, though, we had a friendly waitress and the food was very good.
Our table was a bit too close to the bar, and when I asked to be reseated I was told there was nothing else available. Not a big problem, since the bar scene wasn’t as noisy as we feared. The margarita was too sweet, but the waiter handled it well. The food was terrific, and we were seated promptly. I’d return for the food and overall ambience.
Went for Sunday brunch. Most of the food was really good. My wife’s order that included scrambled eggs obviously sat for a while before coming to the table. They were cold and dry. The service was very slow.
a very nice Sunday Brunch, the service was great. the food was really tasty
Guacamole was good, camarones ajillo had no flavor and was cold and garlic was funky, the jarred stuff and raw. Cooked fresh garlic would have made all the difference...palm salad good, paella was hot in center, cold on outer areas, including the mussels and the MOUSE running around the tables was a disconcerting touch. Flan was ok... too sweet for my taste. We won't return.
This is my third time at Mixto; it never disappoints. Since it was my fiancé’s first time here, we tried the shrimp al ajillo(garlic shrimp). They were succulent, juicy, and arrived marinated in olive oil I believe. Plenty of garlic arrived on top of the shrimp, which were fresh, and didn’t have a fishy scent or questionable taste. I had several mojitos; they’re strong and sweet at the same time. Our waiter, Adrian, was pleasant, patient, and quite attentive. For the main course, my vaca frita was extremely crispy, stringy/tender in the best way. The white rice wasn’t sticky or mushy. It was accompanied by a small helping of savory black beans and plantains. The meals are perfectly portioned for you to finish in one sitting if you have a sizable appetite, or you can have some of it packaged to go. This is excellent for dates, drinks with friends, and anyone who enjoys flavoranle food. While it’s pricey, it’s 100% worth it in my opinion.
Great food. Great drinks. Great service.
Somewhat disappointed—Service was inattentive—waited 10 minutes for initial ordering of drinks. Restaurant was not crowded
Apps, seafood risotto special and skirt steak w chimichurri sauce were very good
The paella was very dry and the voca meat dish was equally dry...
Overall was ok—wld try again to see if experience was an exception
Restaurant atmosphere was good the mojitos were excellent
CRAZY NOISY!! Tight dining space - now I will RAVE about the fresh, tasty, well prepared and well presented. Service was attentive and friendly. DEFINITE return / however would ask for upper level table - appeared a bit more relaxed than main floor.
Wonderful Experience & the Food is amazing. My children truly enjoyed the food.
I dont think theres good communications between upstairs and downstairs and the hostesses could not figure out if you had a reservation. Overall I think the food is good but the hostesses can def be a bit more attentive.
Always great food when I go to Mixto. Went for brunch and we grabbed some drinks at the bar while waiting for the whole group to arrive. Everyone was great and Lilliana (our waitress) was super helpful and responsive.
I don't live nearby, but every once in a while I make a trip to Mixto. The food is so flavorful. The choices of margarita and mojito flavors is wonderful. Love this restaurant.
Christmas dinner with work
Tasty food, lots of options; reasonably priced. Interesting cocktails. Pleasant ambiance.
Came with 3 friends and food and drinks were delicious. I got the salmon off menu, not the special. It was done perfectly potatoes were tasty also. One got the skirt steak with shrimp, old clothes and scallops over risotto. Everyone loved their meal although my friend thought the risotto was a little too rich. We also ordered the guacamole with plantain chips that was good also. Too full for dessert. Next time
Amazing food always delicious and great for brunch
Really nice place! I picked it out of the blue for a couples dinner. Warm comfortable ambiance, excellent food and drinks. Good service. Need to put more guacamole on the plate. Delicious but the serving size was downright pitiful!
Kind of weird, slow service for what appeared to be a quiet, low-volume Saturday afternoon. Food was fine.
Opentable should remove the “special” note from the reservation. You cannot order the special appetizers mention at the tables they seat you at when you make a reservation (even though the happy hour specials are advertised on little cards at said table???)
great food but our server was very slow and inattentive
Great food and amazing drinks. Service was on point too. Will definitely be back.
Great food and drinks! A bit overpriced. The ambiance was nice. Parking is the WORST!!! Service was OK but they are exceptionally moral (we left our purse and they called right away) which is so important!!!
Great food. Attentive service. Beautiful design/architecture.
We always try to make Mixto part of our Philly visits when we can. The restaurant was not that busy. The server spent most of her time over at the bar talking with other employees. She never asked if we wanted drinks or appetizers at the start or coffee or dessert at the end. When dinner arrived it was auction style. She didn't remember who got what. We had to get someone to track her down to get our check. The bus boy was far more attentive with water and plate clearing.
Yes, we will still go again. It was just very disappointing. There are so many restaurants int he city and limited time when we are there. It was just very disappointing this time around.
Vegan/vegetarian options were not good-pyramid & ensalda
(Pork shoulder) was good but salty
We were there during happy hour, but our bill did not reflect hh prices
Our server(who has been here for many years) was not personable and mumbled. Not a good example of our industry.
We ordered a half pitcher of blood orange sangria
A full pitcher(of what tasted like peach) was brought out. They did knock $8 off our bill. Not sure how there are 2 charges for a pitcher of sangria $11 & $37. CRAZY!!
Unfortunately we had to get to a show and wasn’t able to speak with a manager.
The appetizers we can were fabulous but our main entries were pretty tasteless. In fact my husband couldn’t eat his entry there was so much fat in the meat. Out server was wonderful. Perhaps it was the holiday and holiday chef that doesn’t normally cook. But we were very disappointed overall other than the appetizers.
Staff was very pleasant and very accommodating!
Food was a step down this time. Maybe an off day in the kitchen because we have always been much more impressed in past.
Overall a nice experience with very good food. The only problem was our waiter (blond surfer guy) who spent too much time tending to a large all-female party and, at times, ignored us.
Also, he neglected to bring the olive oil I asked for because he was so caught up in serving the large group.
