My Old Dutch - Holborn
My Old Dutch offers savoury and sweet pancakes as well as a selection of salads, traditional Dutch starters and desserts.
The atmosphere is warm friendly and relaxed which makes it a great place to come for families and kids.
Friendly staff, big portions for the seasonal special
Unusual and reasonable, a good central London location, time-tested. Different from the usual fare and good for vegetarians in particular.
Have the pancakes! The Amsterdammer was wonderful but my friend didn't and had the chilli, egg and fries instead and it was all very greasy sadly
We had nice pancakes, unfortunately service was slow and they had no tea. We were sat right at the back by the fire exit, not the best table in the house, although we had book in advance. I think if we were at a table near the fri t it would have been better.
Disappointing food. Felt rushed from start to finish by serving staff
Food was great but service was lacking, perhaps understaffed.
Tasty food, and good value with the offer on the website, however service was slow and the main two beers were off. It was understandable to be slow at the beginning as the restaurant was busy but the service continued to be slow as the restaurant emptied out, which meant we decided not to get dessert.
If you want big pancakes this is where to go! You will struggle to fit dessert in for sure
On arrival they claimed we never booked a table, though I have several emails that prove I have through open table, which I was linked to through their website. So they may need to work on that. Plus the service is very slow and you have to really make an effort for someone to come and take your order or bring you the bill. Luckily the food is good and reasonably priced.
The initial welcome wasn’t impressive. It seemed an inconvenience that I had brought a party of 5 with me (to one of my favorite places). The party behind us in the queue had pre-booked and were swiftly given a very warm welcome.
But, true to form, once we were finally seated, the food was lovely, service was good and my guests thoroughly enjoyed the experience, as can be seen :)
We ordered a sweet and a savoury pancake, while the sweet one was pretty decent, pancakes were fluffy, lots of toppings, the savoury one was dry and burnt, which was absolutely dreadful. And to mention the VERY POOR SERVICE we received, the person was so rude and had to ask him twice to get the bill because he had forgotten the first time, rude and unprofessional. Bad experience and unlikely to return.
Great service, they have a choice of vegan pancakes and toppings which was a nice surprise, also the pancakes are massive!
Great place to have a breakfast. Our pancakes were super delicious and great quality.
Service was outstanding!
Lovely waiting staff.
Food so so. Orders incorrect on two things
Tired decor with an unclean feel
My favourite pancake place! Would 100% recommend to all friends and family
This restaurant is an old favourite of mine. It’s great to go to if you want to try something a bit different from pizza for a change
Really great food and staff. Food came in really good time and the staff were so accommodating. It was not cheap but really good quality and atmosphere.
Really cute place with great service
Noise was a bit loud but not a deal breaker
Pancakes were really good!
I have eaten here twice and both times the food has been absolutely lovely. This time, the waiter didn't write the order down and unfortunately got my friend's order wrong, so I may request next time that they write it down! But the servers are very friendly, the atmosphere and design of the restaurant is beautiful. I love this place!
When we arrived I explain I had a booking. The gentleman was carrying a piece of paper which had bookings on. Mine was not on there. He then asked when I booked and I said about 4 hours ago. He then told me very sternly I should be booking the night before because he prints it off once In the morning and not again.
We then waited a long time for anyone to take our order. We were sat by the door where a line was forming (restaurant had spare tables). Another customer asked how long the wait was and a waiter snapped at him saying just wait there someone will come. It came across very rude and the group left.
The pancakes were lovely but the negative atmosphere and rude staff means I will not be returning to this site. It’s a shame.
I've been meaning to go to Old Dutch for a while, so was very disappointed that the butterscotch pancakes weren't available. Also we were given hot drinks no pancakes, my cappuccino was ice cold by the time the food came. Seriously disappointed as restaurant wasn't evening full to capacity.
It's a very unclean restaurant. They urgently need a deep clean and to repair and clean everything in the ladies loo. I am very surprised that no-one has fallen ill as a result of eating here.
Usually great so assuming this was just a blip. Had to keep getting up to get waiter as we were tucked around the corner and no one actually came over to table during our whole visit. 15% service was added to bill but I was in a hurry so didn't have time to request it be removed which I wanted to.
Lovely pancakes. Recommend chicken curry pancake. We had dessert too - we were well and truly stuffed!!!!! And could not eat any more for a week!!!
Great location - nice ambiance but wouldn’t say comfortable due to straight back wooden chairs and sat right next to the top of the stairs.
Service abit slow but very friendly.
Would recommend as food was amazing, and will go back soon I hope.
Food wasnt amazing, pancakes were ok. Service was terrible, it took nearly an hour to get someone’s attention to order, had to keep getting up to call the waiters. Not enough staff around.
My second time going to my old Dutch, brought with me a friend that used to live in Belgium and she loved it. We tried the vegan pancake and although I like meat it was delicious. We split 1 savoury and one sweet pancake and barely had room afterwards. Very friendly staff, will definitely come back for more!
Disappointing visit. May have just been an off day. Pancakes cold, burnt...
Staff were plessant and we were compensated at the time.
The service takes a really long time but the food is incredible!
I haven’t been here in more than 30 years.
It’s as good as I remember it back then.
Glad I revisited with friends. Had a great time and the staff were amazing.
My old Dutch serves the best pancakes! You can add your own toppings or pick from loads to choose from! Booked my table as birthday breakfast for my boyfriend, they came out with a bowl of ice cream and a candle for him! Thank you so much for making it extra special!
It wasn’t as good as previous visits. Pancakes were cold, daughter ordered bacon and maple syrup, came with w tiny piece of burnt bacon. Very unusual usually as lots of crispy bacon. She was disappointed. Mocha was cold, asked for no cream so they scooped the tower or cream off and gave it back (no fresh one offered or given). Yes not particularly impressed on this visit unfortunately
Food was incredible, service and atmosphere were... meh
We were very disappointed with the service.
We ordered white wine and red was about to be served and we had to point out it was incorrect. Food order was taken and all ok, we enjoyed the food and had no problems with that. Not one member of staff approach the table to see if everything was alright, after we had finished our plates we taken. We were not offered a desert menu, we waited for a while as our Nephew was going to have a desert but adventualy we managed to attract a member of staff and got the bill, as by this point we were very disappointed. We had taken our nephew out for the day as a special treat and this spoilt it for him.
We have been to this restaurant several times over the past 35 years, and this is the worst service we have ever had.
I did notice that as soon as we left the table and was making our way to the door, the waiter couldn’t get to the table quick enough to retrieve the tip, but all I can say is unlucky mate you didn’t get one as you didn’t deserve it. Maybe you need to brush up on you skills. (I have never left a restaurant before without leaving a tip so this tells you how bad we felt)
There seems to have been a breakdown in communication between Open Table and My Old Dutch. I had booked the table online through Open Table but the restaurant had no record of it on their system. Nevertheless they found us a table so we were able to have our longed for meal. I have been going to My Old Dutch for around 20 years and the food was as good as ever, though the service was somewhat slow. My friends and I were happy with the food and we thought the price was in keeping with the quality of the food.
Ideal if you want a filling, reasonably priced, slightly unusual dinner option when you're out in town.
First time to London! Great staff. Delicious food. Great brunch joint.
It was ok. Haven’t been for years. Can’t say I got much service for the lumped in service charge they put on bill. Had a very cramped table even though there were plenty of empty tables around. Nice 2 pancakes but for £40 - you’d expect nice! Could be better
Went for late-breakfast with my boyfriend, which was amazing. The food was delicious and came in good time and the staff were very lovely and helpful.
