Chez Jean-Paul offers an experience that walks the line between fine dining and heartfelt conviviality — just as it should. That’s the motto of chef-owner Isael Gadoua, a former student of the legendary Joe Beef restaurant. Located in the vibrant neighbourhood of Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, this intimate 34-seat restaurant delivers a bold and creative cuisine — playful yet refined. The space exudes that warm, personal energy only found in lively, unpretentious places, giving this exceptional table a truly unique spirit.
In the kitchen, Isael is joined by his right-hand man Antoine Joubert, and together they craft a menu that evolves with the seasons: seasonal ingredients, offal, charcoal grilling — all handled with thoughtful precision and a deep respect for culinary craftsmanship. Out front, sommelier Ellie Cohn curates a wine list highlighting privately imported artisan wines. Expect a selection of both pleasure wines and grands crus, carefully chosen to complement each dish.

Loved the tasting menu, especially the lamb tartare and stuffed squash blossoms. Added dumplings to the order and were so glad we did! Best lamb chops ever. Delightful waiter and bus-girl; impeccable service. Excellent wine pairings! Beautiful attention to detail start to finish!

The food was absolutely amazing — everything we had was delicious. The service, however, could have been a bit more attentive and courteous. Overall, we really enjoyed the meal and would definitely come back for the food.
