Founded by former Ziegfield girl Helen Gallagher and the colorful gambler and sports enthusiast Jack Solomon, Gallaghers opened as a speakeasy and steakhouse in 1927. At that time, the height of Prohibition, a good stiff drink and a great steak were hard to find in New York – except, of course, at Gallaghers.
New Yorkers come for the world-class cocktails and incredible steak – prime beef dry-aged for 21 days in Gallaghers’ legendary windowed meat locker. The combination of all-natural dry aging and cooking it to perfection over hickory coals makes for a steak unlike any other found in New York.
Gallaghers’ guests are welcome in a wide variety of attire – from elegant casual to business suits. We respectfully request that you refrain from wearing hats, sports jerseys, tank tops and shorts.

La Grande Boucherie consistently delivers on every front, and yes, you'll pay for it — but here the price feels earned. Cocktails that were genuinely creative and expertly crafted, the kind that make you slow down and actually taste what's in your glass. A classic French onion soup as it should be - deeply savory, properly gratinéed, and comforting without being heavy. The main courses were also excellent. The ribeye came out perfectly cooked with a beautiful char. The swordfish was also great, hitting that elusive mark of firm yet moist with just the right amount of caramelization. To finish, the crème brûlée was a textbook rendition — silky custard beneath a crackling, golden sugar crust. Highly recommended for a special night out.

From start to finish this is one of the most professional steakhouses that I go to (2 for 2!). The food was amazing. They continuously wished my wife & I happy anniversary (also a surprise during dessert). I have and continue to recommend them to anyone looking to eat in NYC and I challenge any other restaurant to try to duplicate the experience that I receive time and time again.

The food, decor and service was outstanding, the staff were attentive to details making for a great experience. It was our first time at the restaurant for a birthday and they tastefully presented us with a chocolate mousse dessert with Happy Birthday inscribed in chocolate on the plate. What a nice way to finish our early dinner before an evening show.

Beautiful environment for a casual lunch experience. Excellent menus options offers the opportunity to eat lite or get something more substantial to quell your hunger. I enjoyed the Seasame Chicken Salad and my date enjoyed the chicken sandwich (without the bun 😋). Dessert (the carrort cake came out cold like it was straight from the fridge) was ok (better at room temperature). Service is solid...food came out at a timely pace allowing us to enjoy meal and dessert without feeling rushed. Overall, I'll keep The Terrace on my list of go to restaurants in a busy Times Square area for a pre-theater or business lunch.

    Discover Midtown West

If Shakespeare said that the world is a stage, then Midtown West is the perfect neighborhood for a pre-show meal. Encompassing Broadway and the theatre district, this bustling stretch of blocks has more cultural cachet than Midtown East, and it’s a bit grittier. This means that there are casual staples like pizza, late night gyros and other street meat to balance out the high-end options. Some highlights include world-renowned sushi, Korean small plates, cozy New American fare, and more. Whether you’re into musicals or dramas, there are adventurous flavors for every taste.
