Next Door is now a Sushi Restaurant with a very limited regular menu. Wine list is very overpriced with few US wines by the glass. Hostess very impressed with herself and not in the least bit welcoming.
I prefer the original menu with several good entree choices and specials.
I will not be returning to this restaurant unless the venue changed

Had an 845 reservation. Was rushed to order our meal by 9pm by a very pushy waiter. We also could not order a drink before our appetizer ???? Which our apps came out before our drinks- did not appreciate that. There was maybe 5 tables occupied in the whole restaurant. To top it off, I was rushed to order and served raw and cold sea bass. So I was rushed to order, and my food was rushed to be cooked. By the time the terrible server came back, kitchen was completely closed up (at 920pm) and I couldn’t order another meal if I wanted to. The manager did come to our table to apologize, but honestly didn’t have any excuse or reason for the awful service. Terrible experience.

Wasn't quite what we expected. Although the ambiance and service were very good, there wasn't a lot of food choices. The drink selection was limited as well. No desert offerings on the menu although we were verbally given a choice of two after we ate. For 3 of us the bill came to $180.00 (with only one glass of wine, no other drinks); hardly worth the time and meal.

We ate in the igloo but needed shading because the sun intensity was very high...but loved the idea, food and service

Next Door is always my first go to place for nice quiet and fine dining in Rochester. Food, service and ambience are great.

Next Door continues to surprise us with its upscale ambiance, outstanding food, and reasonable prices! A must-try in Rochester when it comes to sushi!

I commend Next Door on their adjustments to our current circumstances... The food and the service are - as always - second to none.

Beautiful ambiance inside their patio bubbles! Felt very private, quiet, and warm. Crazy roll and sea bass were excellent.

We were served champagne as we sat, just because it's Wednesday which was super fun! Sushi and dessert and coffee with liquor adter that. Service food and atmosphere outstanding as usual!

Great experience as always. They are doing a good job with all the Covid guidelines, feels like a very safe and clean place to be during this time. Amazing sushi & drinks! Knowledgeable and friendly staff!

The food was just meh. The menu is very limit, which I understand it changes but it seemed to be a hodge podge of things two fish entrees, a burger, a pasta dish, a steak entree and a chicken entree. No specials. The appetizers weren’t very diverse either. The last time I was there about two years ago there was a better selection of dishes. Maybe it’s just COVID, but for what they offered, I didn’t feel like it was worth the time. Hoping things approve, but I can’t say I’ll be back anytime soon.

Good overall selection of wines and food choices. I chose the halibut which was marinated in Miso. To be picky it was a bit over cooked and to my taste, salty. The Miso soup was also salty. Our table service by Harmony was very good. I would definitely return and maybe ask to go lighter on the seasoning.

Great dining experience but menu was limited and pretty basic. Hasn't changed much but it's probably related to COVID and the need to keep limited options.

There is no bread on the menu...even if you order an Italian dish...no bread!! The chicken entree took 1 hour to cook. We were seated at so small a table one could barely have all the dishes on it. The menu was EXTREMELY limited and way over priced. Go there if you're desperate and can't go anywhere else...and if you don't mind paying $49.00 for codfish.

Great meal - the Pasta was absolutely AMAZING. The only criticism is that we were seated for dinner and they refused to allow drinks before we ordered food. While I understand that drinks and food have to go together - I have never had any other restaurant not bring a round of drinks to us while we looked over the menu. It really felt more like they were doing it as a way to rush people through a meal and open the table up to for another guest and not so much for the reasons they give.

Otherwise the meal was good.

Very enjoyable evening. Our server was outstanding. Very attentive. My husband and I both thoroughly enjoyed our dinners. We will be going there again soon.

Next Door is the best! The miso soup, sushi and sashimi bento box and non-alcoholic piña colada were excellent, especially the snapper, kampachi and chuturo sashimi! The white chocolate lotus flower and honeydew sorbet were so heavenly, Sous Chef Sarah is so creative! Thank you so much!

I gave you a good review because service, food etc. were excellent. I do have a concern, however. The Gentleman working in the middle of the kitchen, possibly preparing sushi seems to have a problem keeping his mask over his nose. It hangs down so low you can almost see his mouth. When a manager appears the mask goes up. This has been a problem on our last three visits. I will never order sushi.

It has been months since we out to dinner. We decided to go out to dinner to Next Door. It was an amazing experience, and it nice to remember how much we enjoyed fine dining.
The service was excellent, the food and the wines, unbelievable. The staff made us feel safe and comfortable.

We were not aware that the menu was primarily Sushi but there were more than enough alternatives and everything we had was delicious. Our server, Harmony was excellent, and impressively knowledgeable about the wines they serve and wine in general. A pleasant surprise. We will be back!

Next Door is excellent. The friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere, strict Covid safety measures and delicious food are four wonderful reasons to go out to dinner and feel human again. Thank you!
Also, the Lava Roll is back! It is so tasty!
