Loved eating at Nico- the beet salad is phenomenal and the calamari was so fresh and delicious.
With that said, we were disappointed with the lack of celebration per se. We made our reservation and informed them we would be celebrating a birthday. The host checked us in and wish a happy birthday, the server did as well as we were seated, then they never brought any cake or dessert for our table to celebrate yet served the table next to us a free birthday dessert...would've loved to have had a little something as well.
Wonderful evening! Staff was incredible!!
Great service, very attentive. Hidden gem. The veal saltimbocca is exceptional! Kudos to the staff.
The food and service was wonderful. Our dinner was marred by a nearby table at which there was an extremely intoxicated and loud woman which detracted from our party’s ability to converse.
They went out of their way to be welcoming to my family. We were 30 minutes late and they still had a table for us.
The hostess was polite and accommodating
The waiter was fantastic and gave awesome service
This restaurant is an authentic old school Italian restaurant
We came to Boston for the night and this was or only choice for dinner.
This is our seventh time here and never have we been disappointed
The reservation was canceled due to a gas leak. Canceled night of.
This review is really for Strega Nico’s sister restaurant. We had reservations at Nico on Saturday night as we arrive there are emergency vehicles and we found out there was a gas leak in the street. We walked into Strega without a reservation and miraculously they were able to find a table in the small restaurant. The hostess went out of her way to help us. We had a fantastic meal and the service was the best. I would highly recommend Strega. I can’t wait to go back and eat at Nico’s.
Our reservation for 4 was at 8:30 PM - Finally got seated about 9:15. The hostess was very rude. It was impossible to get a drink at the bar. The food on the other hand was amazing.
We were celebrating a victory at the Head of the Charles Regatta. It was a perfect night. The wine was delicious and well paired. The meatball appetizer would challenge my little Italian mother and the burrata and prosciutto salad was perfect without an ounce of fat. I have seafood pasta, our guests cioppino (frutti d'mar) and a beautiful risotto. Loads of laughs and and a wonderful server. That my friend picked up the check when he feigned going to the restroom made a perfect evening even better. Thanks
We waited an hour to sit. Horrible and misleading experience. Would not dine again.
We were using a gift certificate with friends after a terrible experience dining at Strega waterfront. I was server at Nico more than made up for a bad experience and bad service at Strega. This server was top notch very informed about the menu knowledgeable and helpful with food allergies for one of our diners
Loved Nico. Food and service was outstanding. Noise level downstairs was insane. We were a table of 10 seated next to a table of 14? Could not hear a word of conversation from anyone at my table.
Rating would be better, as the food was excellent, as was the service, but the menu for Nico on your website was more vast and the pricing was significantly different. Maybe updates are necessary.
Great place to get out of town folks to dinner so they can experience the true Northend faire.
The food was great and service outstanding. Our waiter “Eddie” was very professional, helpful and friendly.
As Seinfeld says, they could take a reservation, but they couldn't hold a reservation. We wound up getting lucky and sat at the bar. It was evident, we'd have waited upwards of 45 minutes to an hour after our reservation time given how long the others outside with us initially had waited. The hostess didn't seem to care that this was the case.
Visiting from Arizona , just for the weekend I had to
Stop here 2 times such a great food ! Service was amazing our server James went the extra mile with all
The recommendations ... if I have to stop in Boston again this will be the spot to visit definitely. Recommend everyone to visit this location.
Food was wonderful and service great!
Food and service was wonderful. It really felt like a special and festive night out.
My favorite North End restaurant
The staff was super attentive and just an amazing team! The specials were phenomenal! Really a special night. Highly recommend!
Excellent food and service, only complaint would be crowded and noisy
Great Italian food just like Nonna used to make. Friendly and attentive service, and a nice value. Highly recommend
Food was excellent but the basement table we sat at was not great ambiance!!
We were a party of 11 from Colorado and our dinner at Nico was excellent.
I was expecting a 4.6 star experience from the reviews but instead I would give it a 3.5 if I could. The food was good though for the money I was expecting a much tastier experience. The shrimp scampi appetizer was delicious and the Caesar salad yummy too. My pasta was a little overcooked and tasted like water. My chicken Parmesan had too much breading and the meat was kind of thick and not pounded down like traditional. My son had the stuffed veal chop that was yummy and the sauce was delish though quite expensive $49 just for that. He asked them to grill the calamari and they could not do that so that told me it might be frozen, not good for the North End Boston you expect more. I wish I could give more stars and a better review but sorry not this time.
The restaurant is tiny, which seemed charming at first but then a loud, obnoxious party waited at the bar for their table and become belligerent to the family who was finishing at their soon to be table. Restaurant staff had to get involved but it seemed like they were regulars so got away with very inappropriate language and behavior. The prices are much higher than seen on the online menu. We had a party of 9. 3 kids ordered a bowl of buttered pasta which cost $18 each and was served cold. The salads and entrees were good but most entrees are over $30 so quality food is expected. When ordering drinks we were told beer, wine and cordials only however many of the regulars were drinking vodka based cocktails which seemed odd. When we asked the server- he said that they make their own flavored vodka which is considered a cordial. Seemed like only certain guests were served these drinks which didn’t seem right. Overall an uncomfortable, unpleasant vibe.
Had a great meal. Our group of 7 was seated promptly at our reservation time, in the lower level. Portions are huge...we shared 3 salads and 3 entrees. Served ourselves family style. Our server was very accommodating and helped us have a great evening out. Food was delicious....burrata salad special in particular. Thank you for a great meal!!
Completely overrated, there are dozens of places in the North-end with better food, better service and better value.
Wonderful Birthday, dinner everyone made it very special food was amazing!!!
Good and server was excellent! Love the Riccotta ball with my pasta!
Everything was absolutely delicious! Calamari was crisp and fresh and had a delicious aioli drizzled on top. I had a vodka sauce dish with shrimp and a huge dollop of ricotta cheese on the side. Yum!! My friend had the linguini in clams in white sauce and said it was awesome as well. Best restaurant I’ve eaten at in the north end in a while.
Ask for a window table when making a reservation or, at least, for a table upstairs.
Food was excellent and our waiter Rosario was fabulous!
The food was great. It is good for small parties. Noise level is high which makes a conversation limited.
The food is amazing, the people too. Drinks are a 10/10. Would definitely go again.
We had a reservation for 8:30pm but were seated a little after 9:30, so be sure to give yourself plenty of time.
Dining experience was great but they did take us 45 minutes late.
I made a reservation here early when my friend and her partner told me they’d be visiting me in Boston from Texas.
We arrived at 7:45 for our reservation For 4 and she told us it be a little bit but they were finishing up. but then she came out and told us she had made a mistake and the table she was talking about had just gotten their food. she said could call us when it was close. After 45 minutes, when I asked for a time, she couldn’t give me an estimate- she said she was waiting for some large parties to leave. we wished we had gone somewhere else for a drink if we had known it’d be that long
We ended up eating 1 hour and 15 minutes after our reservation. This was a busy weekend for the north end but it seemed like they didn’t handle their reservation well, and making it seem like we were tied to one specific table.
Food was amazing. Service was great once seated.
