Old Hickory Steakhouse
Experience a tableside presentation of flavorful cheeses. All presented by our Maitre D' Frommage
OH has become a part of our annual tradition of a Mommy/daughter weekend at the Gaylord where Daddy is only invited for dinner. The steak is perfectly prepared, the maitre d' fromage is knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is warm and delightful. Be seated by the atrium window during the holiday season so you can enjoy the nightly festive atrium light show. good wine list; great cheese "cave".
The ambiance was pretty. Service was friendly and good. The food was good but not great. We have been there when it was better. We probably just hit it wrong. The deserts were fair and limited. The location is great as it is in the hotel but next visit w will try another restaurant in the area. It is a great date place. Noise level is nice and the restaurant is pretty.
The meal was good, the desserts had no flavor at all and were just plain terrible. The restaurant was not full and should have seated us at a table with a better view. We were there when the restaurant opened and there were plenty of empty tables, even after we left. I have been to this restaurant several times and this visit did not meet our expectations.
Delicious! We had a wonder time! I had the filet with blue cheese and my husband had the bison ribeye and both were amazing! The wedge salad was delicious too!
The price point is high, and that’s fine for special occasion events. However, while the server was extremely attentive, the “white-glove” service that one would expect with an average price per guest of $75-$100 was not there. To the point where crumbs weren’t cleared from the table, and the silver wasn’t switched between the appetizer and entree courses. These are activities that are standard with restaurants that have high price points. In other words, I don’t mind the price as long as the service and experience matches accordingly. Additionally, I have to say the food was just okay...
Waiter was great and very attentive. The young woman at the checking was rude when it came to having a reservation or a walk in. The bar was good but you couldn’t transfer your bar ticket to your table which made no since since once you get seated the waiters go to the same bar and get you drinks.
Worst experience! Two different waiters waited on me and my wife. My wife’s main course came out cold and had to send it back to kitchen. Not a good attention to the table. However, the worst of all and what totally ruined the whole experience, is that they forgot it was my wife’s 50th Birthday, which is very special, although I put a note in reservation about bringing a piece of chocolate cake with candle to her; instead, I get the check! After speaking with the hostesses and requesting the manager, they both looked into the reservation that I made and saw the note. They went and told the manager who, from a distance, seemed frustrated with the incident but did not approach me. I went back to the table but the manager never came to the table, only the two waiter came to apologize and gave excuses. They tried to salvage the situation by quickly bringing a piece of cake with a candle but it was too late as we were leaving. I had to go to the hostesses again asking for the manager who finally arrived with just “I apologize”. He did not remedy the situation until I told him that I asked for him twice to no avail. He said he was working on the issue!
I do not understand how can he be working on the issue when we were out the door?
He apologized again without suggesting some sort of resolution until I said a resolution is needed. He went away and came back with new receipt with an insulting discount. I did not discuss any further because I spent too much time waiting for a remedy.
It was my wife’s 50th and the most important birthday for which I picked this restaurant hoping for a memorable evening; it didn’t happen!
Great Steak, service and presentation. Will return again.
Wonderful girls night out/50th Birthdays celebration.
We felt no shame consuming our steaks and not taking home leftovers to share with the husbands. We did take the bones back for the dogs. ;)
We very much enjoyed our dinner. The food was very good. Although my steak (cowboy ribeye) was a bit over cooked, it was still tender and delicious. My wife’s tenderloin, on the other hand, was perfect.
Our waiter was Ruben. I have to say, he was one of the best waiters I’ve ever had. He was right on time, everytime, and his manner was just right.
Upon returning to National Harbor, we will go to Old Hickory, and I will ask for Ruben.
Took my partner here for her birthday, and to say the least she loved it. Marc was our waiter and he was MAGNIFICENT. We had lobster bisque, steak, mashed potatoes, and WONDERFUL moscato. Marc also suggested the Long Island Iced Tea for my partner and it was soooo good. The chocolate cake they brought out for her birthday was good, a little too much on the fudgey side, but nonetheless great. It’s was very quiet when we went. It’s very upscale. Would definitely recommend & not great for kids
Had a wonderful meal at the Old Hickory. Steve was our server and he did an excellent job. Offered good recommendations and told us not to order too many sides, better to order less and add on if needed. Monica also helped us pick out cheese and she was a delight as well. I wish I lived close by I would go for the service. Meal was excellent as well and so tasty. And Steve, a NY native, gave me some recommendations for places to go on my next work trip. Highly recommend. Regular steak house prices but well worth the value.
Kras was our waiter and was terrific. The night was a special night for my son. We enjoyed the experience ... I just don't think it was worth the price.
The chicken was probably the best I have ever had. The people working there were very kind, attentive, and funny. The restaurant has a great view of the ferris wheel and water and it was lovely to watch storm clouds roll through.
Nice place to eat, the only reason I gave 4 stars over all is because I think it was a bit over priced for the dinner we had. Although the dinner was good, service was good, and liked the quietness of the place. Just a bit pricey....but I'd still go back I think if I in town again. Great rib eye steak if your a steak lover.
Very pleasant , Happy, our waiter was exceptional. The hostess ( forget her name but she was from Long Island) was warm and welcoming
Waiter was yawning while we gave our drink orders. Seemed very low energy and disinterested. Hardly any customers there. Food absurdly overpriced. We ordered a few drinks and then went somewhere else to eat, mainly because the server was not informative or pleasant at all.
Excellent food and service!
The only reason not 5 stars is the cheese person wasn’t in, and we were looking forward to our cheese tasting... maybe next time.
I was very disappointed that the cheese cart was not available on a Friday night. It was one of the reasons I booked this location. The drinks were good. We went with the special - that was good. The wait staff was good - he was attentive without being intrusive.
Patricio have excellent service!.. was my mom birthday!!.. I’m very happy choose this Restaurant Hold Hickory Steake House!..
We were visiting the Gaylord for our anniversary and had a very enjoyable meal at the Old Hickory Steakhouse. The food was great and the service excellent. In fact our waiter sang to us after bringing a special dessert for my wife and I to share. Look forward to going back again.
We went into our experience knowing that this was a high end and high priced restaurant. The service was impeccable and the food was wonderful. We had the seafood tower and the filet mignon topped with a crab cake and béarnaise. The wine selection was quite good with a variety of prices. The waiter was warm and welcoming. At the end of the meal we were presented with a complimentary dessert for our special occasion. The price was worth it. I would go back any time we were in town for any occasion and certainly for business.
Poor service. The hostess took us to the table and no body is aware that there were no napkins and silvers. Food was brought in and we have to wait for silverware. As no body bothered to supply these, I took those from the neighboring table.
Despite a reservation, I was seated 20 minutes late- suspect it was because I was a female party of one. Once seated, however, service was outstanding and food was excellent.
Excellent tomahawk for two. The service was great. Fully recommend
Steaks are $50 and above but not as good as most other steakhouses in their price range. We got in a bit early but they would not seat us even though they a number of empty tables.
The table cloths are in terrible shape. The seafood tower was expensive but very good and fair priced for the great quality. However, the lamb was not good. Little flavor from the polenta. And the waygo steaks were just okay. Nothing special. We spent $1000 on a meal that was mediocre.
Food was fabulous, and the ambiance was wonderful. Waiter was extremely attentive and quite entertaining.
I chose the restaurant because they had beef tartare on the menue. However it turned out they dont, and the menu in tripadvisor was 2 years old. Service was good but prices on the higher side. I waited a while after dinner to get my receipt but never received it. It was going on the room, so i assumed i would get it during check out. I didnt so i asked the hotel to email it to me. Unfortunately, to this date, i have not received it yet.
Food was good, but service was very slow.Waiter apologized .In his behalf, they were slamed.Another waiter jump into help out. Great steaks.
They had a big party there and our service was extremely slow. Dinner took over 2 hours
The shrimp cocktail is the best I've ever had! The filet was perfect too as were the brusel sprouts.
We had dined there 5 years ago and it was in our top food experiences and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious and our server Vincent was very attentive. HOWEVER, when we returned the following night and order the exact same entrée it was 180 degree turn. Food was sent back, the server and the manager did not seem bothered that we had waited 2 hours only to receive a dried up lobster tail and a cold and tough steak. The less than stellar reviews, now make sense... it is a 50/50 chance. We will not be going back. It is the first time and hopefully the last time in my life that I have ever left a zero tip.
While the food was spectacular, our service was not. Server was very rushed, not attentive and not personable. At this caliber of a restaurant, the servers should be in touch with the customers and be attentive.
My wife and I dined here during a convention and could not have been more pleased. The food was delivered in a timely manner, the service was excellent, and our experience here was an absolute delight. You could hardly do better.
They were out of 2 different steaks to begin with then ordered medium steak and it was hard crusty on the edges.
Awesome Tomahawk steak! Service was terrific. Expensive but worth it for a business dinner or special occasion.
Food was fantastic. A little on the expensive side. Overall A+
My wife and I drove up from Richmond to celebrate our anniversary. I requested a table (1 week in advance) by the window overlooking the atrium/fountain. In addition, I called to confirm this table the night before...I was told that everything was good to go. My wife and I arrived 5 minutes before our reservation. That said, we waited 30 minutes to be seated. Once we were were seated, they placed us in the back room...no where close to the table that I requested.
After sitting at the table for 10 minutes, a party of 4 sat behind us. After taking their order first, we were finally greeted by our waiter for our drink order. Long story short, the table behind us received far better service than we did. They were done eating before our entrees were served. All in all, it took us 2 hours until our steaks arrived. Once they did arrive, my wife and I noticed that our steaks were over cooked. At this point we were too frustrated to send anything back...we were just ready to get out of there. To add to the misery, the steaks (wagyu sirloin and filet) weren't that good.
In conclusion, a simple apology would've made things better. I addressed the table issue with the manager and he could've cared less. I'll take my business to the other steakhouse 3 minutes up the road next time.
Amazing food as always, but to top it all off, Vincent (our server) was very attentive and had that amazing smile that would make anyone feel comfortable and welcomed.
Thank you for a great dinner, Vincent!
