Old Hickory Steakhouse
Experience a tableside presentation of flavorful cheeses. All presented by our Maitre D' Frommage
Took my boys here for dinner while staying at the Gaylord. Service was spot on but some of the dishes were bland and tasteless. Lobster Bisque and Squash soup were thin and lacked flavor. The seafood tower was pretty good and the cheese selection was nice. Our table side window provided great views.
I have been to Old Hickory several times a few years ago and the food was always stellar, service exceptional and the atmosphere elegant.
However this time - 2 years later - totally different experience. The soft jazz was replaced by loud pop radio playing Bieber almost so loud we couldn’t hear each other talking. The formerly gorgeous wood floor was scraped and scuffed and the room looked unkept.
The food was ok, but for $200 for dinner for two, there a hundred better restaurants - with better food and much better ambiance. Don’t spend the money here. Go elsewhere.
Our experience was perfect. We wish we could have thanked everyone individually. Our waiter, water guy, cheese girl, and chef were all wonderful. Keep it up.
Very beautiful restaurant and enjoyable dining experience. The Waiter made us feel welcome from the very beginning. We will certainly be dining there again.
Food is excellent! Service by the wait staff is always top notch.
This was the most hideous experience in my years of going to this establishment. The waitress was TERRIBLE, the food (steak) came out rare after asking for medium well. Big difference there if you call yourself a steakhouse. The side of potatoes crispy burnt. Ordered a bottle of wine. Waitress charged my by the glass until I said I ordered a bottle. Manager was non accommodating. Just terrible
Took my wife here for Valentine's day and she had an outstanding time. The food was great and the wait staff did an excellent job...thank you very much Old Hickory
We enjoyed our Valentine's Day dinner at Old Hickory. The service was excellent and the meal was superb. We enjoyed a nice bottle of Reisling wine. Thanks for providing roses to spouses and for bringing us the Kir Royal. I find that prices are high, but given the special occasion, I went with it.
Food was sub-par for the price; the cut of my steak was chewy however cooked to order. The service was seriously lacking... my wife and I have been s few times and it’s been on the decline. You shouldn’t get better service at an Outback Steakhouse than a fine restaurant but that was our observation. And finally; we were under the impression this was a nice restaurantbased on prior visits.... it has gone down hill considerably. There were people in cutoff denim, sweat pants, and graphic tees. Not the experience we expected, or dressed for.
The Cowboy Ribeye was awful. Mostly gristle and unrendered fat. Service was even worse. The water glass was never filled. The waiter disappeared on us as he was too busy with the larger party sitting next to us. A manager had to bring the desert menu and the bill because the waiter was AWOL. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Loved coming here for dinner. Great food and amazing service. Looking forward to going back soon!
The food was very good as expected at the price point. We were seated at a table with sun directly in our eyes. We mentioned to hostess and she said she didn’t know how to close sheer drapes. The waiter was rather pompous and merely took our order with no emotion. The first wine we ordered was out of stock. We each ordered a side dish, which turned out to be enough to share around the table. Waiter never mentioned this, so food wasted. If we ever recommend this restaurant it will be with this caveat. Great food, lackluster service.
I ordered lobster tails they were over cooked, service was just so so, expected more . It was not the experience that we expected. We have dinned here before and it was a much different experience. I really expected more for a 250.00 dinner for two.
Thought our waiter could have been more accommodating. Had to ask for bread and black pepper- instead of it being offered.
Great place for a date night, wonderful food, and staff. I would come again!
Phenomenal job by our waiter, Tony from Bangladesh! We arrived a couple of hours earlier than our reservation time and since it was just about empty, and they accommodated. It was quiet with perfect atmosphere, smooth jazz, and the food was tremendous from the appetizers to the main course. The drinks were also great. No watering those down. It had a good kick. The wife ordered the lobster and I ordered the Wagyu New York and they accidentally gave me the wagyu sirloin ...but they owned up without me even knowing. The "maitre d' (Joshua) came out apologizing for the mistake and I was oblivious. The chef then came out and presented us with a new kind of chocolate mousse with whipped crème and strawberries as part of a comp, I guess or it could've been for our anniversary. Either way, we had a fantastic time. Well done by all. Thx Tony! You're a true professional.
Very expensive. Small portions. And to be honest over 400 for 2 people is extreme. I cried when we got our bill. The food was not exceptional and yes we were treating ourselves after 20 years of marriage but gosh it was not worth it
Great food and great service
Mark was a superb waiter! Wonderful evening!
Wonderful experience! The food and ambience was amazing and top notch service. I definitely recommend this place for a special occasion.
26th anniversary.. great dining experience. Great service
Would probably recommend if someone was staying at the Gaylord, otherwise, no.
Went for the 1st time with my sisters for my bday dinner. It was awesome, nice , very professional, food was awesome, overall Awesomeness, I highly recommend this restaurant 10stars just my opinion
Thanks for theOutstanding Service
The food and service was impeccable. What a wonderful place to celebrate our anniversary.
I chose this restaurant because I was going to be at the Gaylord for the day on January 19th for a birthday celebration and also because about a week before I made my reservation I checked the menu online because my husband wanted to have Lamb for his Birthday meal. I saw Lamb on the menu but when we were arrived unfortunately, we were told by our server that the menu had changed about a week ago and that the Lamb was taken off. My husband had the Pork Chop instead and was not very pleased with that selection. It was dry and hard to chew. I had the Salmon which was good. Our server Reuben was great and professional. The restaurant was nice and quiet and we had great seats by the window.
My brother and I split the 38oz Tomahawk along with a Seafood platter for two. It all was delicious! Our night was capped off by our server Happy. He was polite, courteous and extremely friendly. Old Hickory is lucky to have him on staff!
Took customers here for convention dinner and the whole meal was wonderful and the service was excellent. Could not have asked for a better experience
Took good customers to dinner and it was excellent! I would highly recommend this for business dinners
My boyfriend and I went there for a dinner date. The dinner was delicious, just as expected. My boyfriend did mention how the place could have made the table setting more intimate, and I agree. The other thing is it was a little too quiet for my taste.
But again, the food was simply delicious and the service was outstanding!!!
We will definitely come back again.
Took over an hour to get our main entrees. They comped a bottle of wine which was nice, but overall the service felt way to slow for the prices payed. Not worth the costs in my opinion. Also, someone at our table had a nut allergy and asked serval time about a dessert. We were told the cook guaranteed no nuts...yet after a few bites he could feel an immediate allergic reaction. Manager was unapologetic...
Excellent food, the cheese cart is great and server was very knowledgeable and attentive. The only issue is the noise, way too many small children for a high end steakhouse.
We had a great time for our anniversary. Overlooked the atrium so we watched the atrium show(s) at Christmas time.
Very enjoyable dinner before attending concert
The food and service were excellent. I highly recommend the Cowboy Ribeye with peppercorn sauce.
The service was poor for an upscale restaurant. We waited approximately 20 minutes before even had a beverage order taken and even the manager was aware that we did not have service. The manager was not concerned the least bit. We had to keep asking for things the waiter forgot. I will not recommend this restaurant to any of my friends.
I rarely write reviews but wanted to share our experience. We started with a 6:30 reservation, but still waited over 20 minutes to be seated. They ran out of of $120 tomahawk steak, it was difficult to get a drink refill and side dish was never delivered. Ultimately called over a manager who comped dessert. Felt good was overpriced and service very lacking.
We did Christmas day dinner at old Hickory after we walked through Ice! The food and service were wonderful. Looking forward to our next special dinner at old Hickory
Perfect place to be with the family and enjoy good quality of food.
We had a wonderful experience- great food and service. Our waiter Ray made wonderful recommendations. Loved the view, the cheese course, steak and deserts. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Once you get seated, the food and table service are right up there with the very best steakhouses. Can't say enough about our server Lily who was extremely knowledgeable and attentive. The steaks and accompaniments were very nicely done and came out on time at the perfect temperature. Wine selection was above average. Surprisingly, you must ask for the cheese cart to come to your table. Unlike other high-end restaurants, if you don't ask - that cart isn't coming by, and you will be on the 3rd course wondering what happened to that cheese you heard so much about from other reviewers.
For Christmas Eve, we would have expected more than green apple and vanilla as the gelato choices, and perhaps one special dessert, but alas - the desserts were not up to par with an exclusive steakhouse (and we each tried a different one - all were "okay" - the peanut butter chocolate one tasted less than stellar but it looked nice)
This steakhouse will likely never attain 5 stars from most reviewers due to something that is SO EASY TO FIX. When patrons arrive, do not let them see MULTIPLE waitstaff "sitting around" using cell phones in different states of uniform undress, yelling to each other, laughing, etc. Wow, just wow. This was like going to McDonald's from that standpoint. Also, if there is an issue with patrons showing up and the restaurant not having their name (we witnessed this with a lovely family), do not have FOUR restaurant "managers" doing a Three Stooges imitation running around, arguing, looking lost, looking perturbed IN FRONT OF THE OTHER WAITING patrons. Poor management of the wait staff prior to first seating and extremely poor management at the Maitre D station is not even Restaurant 101. Great food, great table service, third-world country restaurant staff management. All it would take is a new manager and a few charm school lessons for the crew.
