   A pleasant walk back in time. Grew up a similar small NC town. Going out growing up met going to a spot like On The Square. Brought back wonderful memories. I will be back… I promise!

   The steaks never disappoint! The duck with cranberry butter was a hit. The star of the show, however, was the appetizer of fried brussels sprouts with Taigon aioli. The sprouts were delicious and the aioli was out of this world! We placed an order for one appetizer and quickly ordered a second! I would eat that aioli on anything - in fact I took some to go and will be enjoying it on a future salad 😉

   All of us thoroughly enjoyed our dinners. The men declared it was the best calamari ever and I loved my shrimp and grits! The four of us eat out together almost every weekend and will definitely put On the Square into our top favorites!

   An absolute gem among a sea of fast food restaurants and diners. Appetizers, specialty drinks, main courses, and dessert were allllllll on point! Do yourself a favor and get on a over there!!!!!!

    Our party of four had a delightful dining experience, especially appreciating the white tablecloths and napkins, candles on the tables, beautiful presentation of our plated food, excellent and attentive servers, not to mention the outstanding food. My personal favorites always include the calamari (best anywhere) and molten chocolate cake.

    Excellent service and accommodation of our wheelchair guest at front window table. Adored the grilled Romaine salad and salmon. The pecan bread pudding for dessert was fabulous. Thank you for a lovely evening with good friends and superb food!

    It was a very nice time. The drinks were incredible and the food, even though it took awhile, was delicious. We were seated in the back of the restaurant. Some attention should be paid to this are.

    The two of us had dinner just after opening so it was pretty quiet. We drove down from Raleigh to check out the restaurant. The atmosphere was great sitting in the sun room. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu with good suggestions. The food in general was good. The fried okra were prepared differently than I have ever had … and I’ve tried a lot of fried okra. The steak was very good and the chicken pasta dish was tasty. The cheesecake was excellent. Portions were plentiful with enough to take home. Prices were better than expected. If you’re in the area it’s worth a visit.

    We had been wanting to dine here for a long time. Disappointed that when we walked in and patiently waited, no one approached us about the restaurant's procedures until we asked. We sat ourselves as we were handed a menu and were told to come back to the cashier when we were ready to order, like a fast food restaurant. My husband ordered the roast beef sandwich and said it was good, fries also, my chicken sandwich was bland and dry but edible. Water was served in a styrofoam cup. I realize finding personnel is difficult these days, but having only one person out front to host, take orders, serve drinks and cashier is a bit extreme. She did the best she could but as a patron, I feel maybe they need to reconsider and offer take out only. That way no one feels cheated.

    Many good menu options. No wine list and has not been one for a while. Server was good making recommendations, Food was good, but not outstanding. Very much a local hangout. Noisy at times.

    On the Square continues to shine as an example a locally owned business that goes above and beyond for both employees and customers. The food is outstanding. Like many small businesses, getting and keeping staff is a challenge. Set in a beautiful small town, On the Square is one of our favorites.
