My wife and I had a very enjoyable Monday date night at Mynt. We arrived at the reservation time and were immediately seated in the tiny first-floor dining room. (We later learned there's more seating in an upstairs space.) Service was courteous and professional and pleasantly unhurried, and the view of Hannibal Square pedestrians passing the large dining room windows was a continuous source of dinnertime entertainment, as were the many take-out diners ducking in from the street to grab their to-go orders.
We started with the veggie samosas. Two samosas arrived--large, plump, and filled with steaming, fragrant vegetables. It was hard to decide which of the accompanying sauces was better. We decided we liked them both. My wife's chicken korma, served with basmati rice, was rich and tasty (she let me try a little). My lamb biryani arrived in a pot covered with a sheet of soft pastry dough. When I cut it open, the resulting release of steam was wonderfully aromatic. We also ordered the onion kulcha. Everything was delicious. And the portions were surprisingly generous. We took home enough leftovers to make another meal for two--which we are eagerly anticipating. In short, Mynt is a local gem.
