We are a 50-seat neighborhood restaurant that serves traditional Korean cuisine. Please understand although we strive to serve food and beverages with distinction we are still a small independent family run restaurant. No smoke and mirrors here. Just food from the heart. Our space is limited and our staff is small. We believe that we have the ability and resources to make all of our guests happy while dining in our "home" (as we see it). It can get loud in here when we are full but we believe this adds to the convivial atmosphere we provide. We are always happy here and this shows in the spirit of our restaurant. We look forward to serving you with all of our hearts and a smile!

Our sister restaurant, Wherewithall, is right down the street so feel free to walk over for a pre-dinner snack or a post-dinner drink!

Staff paid special attention to our celebration. The food was delicious but having been to Parachute several years ago I was not prepared for the change in the menu. I liked it before the redo!

Sebastian was AMAZING! Knew the drink and dinner menu as good as anyone I’ve ever had serve us. Group of 4 and we ordered one of everything. We were full, but not stuffed. Only surprise was that they added a 20% service charge automatically. We asked if this was the tip, and we were told that it was not. It was worth every penny, but just raise the prices 20% if you’re going to add a service charge.

Second time dining at Parachute with parents visiting from Korea. Overall, very pleasant experience with good service and food. Golbengee muchim and haemul pajeon were phenomenal, you can smell the fresh greens in the muchim and the pajeon was cooked to perfection. Bossam was a little salty and Yukgaejang lacked flavour but both dishes were prepared with excellent ingredients. Rice and side dishes, comes with every order with entree, were served very last which I thought was a little weird given how Korean food is almost always paired with rice. Kimchi was fresh and other side dishes were okay.

Visit to Chicago with 3 other out-of-towners (all Californians); I was tasked to come up with a dinner reservation at somewhere interesting. I researched a little and came up with this (there were other possibilities). It was perfect for what we wanted: interesting, a little challenging, smallish but hopping, sweet decor (speakers, vinyl, stereo), GREAT SERVICE (really worth noting). The menu and drinks list needs some explanation from the staff and they really do an excellent job of helping you through it. Moreover, all four of us (several of whom are super picky) thought the meal and experience was terrific.

Great service did not make up for how incredibly overpriced the food is there. You can find traditional Korean food that is the same or better elsewhere in the city for less than half the cost here. Just not worth it.

Our dinner was fantastic! Extraordinary and delicious dishes, super fun cocktails and spirits tastings, service is so friendly and willing to share their deep knowledge - dinner out doesn’t always feel fun anymore, but this was FUN! Kudos Chef Beverly, Johnny, Jose and team for bringing this dining room back. May I come back tomorrow night??

To be clear, the food was all very good. Prepared well, balanced, and the flavors were all great. This was my first time back since the pandemic and the restaurant lost something in its revamping. Before, I would call the dishes very unique, interesting and exciting. Now I'd just refer to it as "upscale Korean". It's certainly an interesting take on Korean food, but for a meal that costs >$150 than what a comparable meal at a traditional Korean restaurant, the value was not there. It just was no longer... special. And, I've read the article, and I totally get it and respect the artistic and business decision, but the loss of the Bing Bread is heartbreaking.

Everything here was AMAZING. I have some feelings about elevated Korean food since I’ve been disappointed so many times before, but Parachute was incredible. The food had the authenticity and flavors that reminded me of my parents’ cooking (maybe even better!!). But the plating and experience were definitely fancier than eating dinner at my parent’s - in a good way. The ambiance was nice and soju delicious. The one thing I’ll say is that it’s a pretty small restaurant so you may be seated at a large table with more than one party. I prefer to have my own table, but other than that 5/5!!

I am a vegetarian, and it was immediately clear that Parachute was seeking to make sure my dining experience was as amazing as my carnivorous friends. The pajeon is supposed to be seafood, but they made it vegetarian, and it was amazing!! Even the eater who doesn't love veggies would love this dish, as evidenced by my niece. Everything was great, from the drinks to the amazing staff.

Favorite place to eat everything I visit Chicago. Other places are good but rarely do I need a return visit. Chef Beverly and her team make you feel like you are at home. The menu changes but it's always delicious. Style is traditional with a twist which feeds my soul. Details are thoughtful throughout with the new renovation. Our waiter was spot on with all recommendations. Can't wait to visit again.

another outstanding dining experience! A wonderful way to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I kept asking my wife which dish she liked the best. Her answer? All of them! I could not agree more. Seafood pancake, vegetable tempura and pork bossam. All were terrific. Service, as always, was warm, knowledgeable and attentive. The new decor was amazing! thank you, Chef Beverly! thank you!

I found the food and service to be quite good at Parachute but it wasn't exactly what I expected. The menu is actually quite limited and there were many traditional Korean foods that weren't included. I tried for several days to reach the restaurant by phone to try to discuss changing the reservation but they simply didn't answer the phone and didn't respond to my email. I expected a large table with room for several dishes but the table was way to small to make it easy to have several dishes. Finding parking was difficult and the room was too noisy for pleasant conversation, The food was too expensive and, while very good, didn't justify the cost. I was appalled that they added a 20% gratuity automatically and also suggested adding a further tip. Overall, the visit was a worthwhile venture but I won't return and I think there are other Korean restaurants in the city that are better. I think the other reviews were so positive that they made me want to visit but I couldn't give Parachute the glowing review that others. did.

My wife and I had obviously heard many fantastic things (including their multiple prestigious accolades), and after dining at the sister concept, Wherewithall, we decided to book a rezo at Parachute. It is a fairly small, cozy space, and we had to book weeks out to secure a spot. I loved the vintage audiophile aesthetic - complete with records, CDs, and old receivers and speakers. Small but perfectly executed menu with quite reasonable prices for the quality. We tried the seafood pancake, dry aged bulgogi beef, and whole grilled yellow corvina. Everything was absolutely fantastic including all the accoutrements (house made kimchi, pickles, eggplant, etc.). Cocktails, soju, wine, and beer were all new and exciting. And last but not least, our server was friendly, timely, knowledgeable, made great suggestions, and took care of us with patience. An absolute must try restaurant in Chicago!

The service was excellent but that’s where the excellence stops. The pork belly and collar were bland, it had a steamed appearance to it. Everything was salty yet still seemed bland and under seasoned. I was so looking forward to this meal. I had so many people tell me it’s going to be a spectacular experience. I was very disappointed and that seems to be the trend lately as I read the reviews. I really hate to give bad reviews but for an almost $300 dinner it was A disappoint.

The food, service and ambience were all top-notch, just not $300 a couple top-notch. And that's with 3 glasses of wine, total alc. It feels like a $150-$200 a couple meal. I dine in such restaurants 2-3 times a week. So in my judgment, way overpriced.

The makeover of what was once an exciting and inventive restaurant well worth a detour deep into territory otherwise sparse in restaurants, has been a bad mistake. It is now a reasonable, run of the mill but very over priced Korean restaurant, with absurdly small plates for sharing apart from a gigantic desert. Such a disappointment. Such pretentions for OK food. Cross off list.
