   Fantastic, unique experience and cuisine! We loved everything about this place—the ambiance, the little touches from the mismatched vintage china to the black salt garnishes and soft lantern lighting. My dad doesn’t like French food but he’s now converted. Also - The Mac and cheese is the best we’ve ever tasted!

   What a great surprise! Authentic French food in a French atmosphere with great food and great service. Steak frites were perfection as was the chocolate mousse and the creme brulee. We'd heard the cocktails were amazing and the gin gimlet didn't disappoint. Wine selection was also very good. We went for lunch on a Friday so it was quieter than it might be in the evenings. Will definitely be back!

   Wonderful bistro. Wood ceiling’s kept the noise level low. Food and drinks were delicious. We had oysters, bone marrow appetizer and moules frites. Crème brûlée for dessert was tasty. Highly recommend.

   Escorgos and onion soup excellent. Out of chicken. Frites ok. Carrots excellent. Fish skimpy and over cooked- was too thin. So understandable. Tenderloin was tender. Crème brûlée was tasty what there was of it - very tiny dish. Service was excellent. Table was perfect - a corner table by the window for two. Overall the evening did not feel to Frenchie.

    Charming atmosphere and excellent service. Kira took care of us and was very knowledgeable regarding food and drink selections. Oysters some of the best we've tried in ATX. Would recommend to anyone looking to try a new dining experience in Austin.

    Quaint and eclectic! Loved the decor and ambiance on the fully covered patio. The brunch was delicious, but some dishes are on the smaller portion size so if you come hungry you might want to ask the waiter for suggestions. Will definitely visit again for dinner.

    This is my second brunch at 1417 French Bistro and it does not disappoint. From the décor to the food and the service it is an authentic French dining experience ~ and I mean that in a good way :)

    Nice location, attractive outside/inside. Really loud music inside - tough to talk over. Would have switched to outside if there was a way. Ordered steak frites while there . Our waiter told us we could either get it rare or well done but nothing in between in terms of temperature. Kind of strange that those were our only options. Went with well done but it was really dry. Won’t do that ever again. Their fish special- rainbow trout - was amazing!

    Dined at the bar on a Friday at 19:30, so peak times. Noise was perfect, great lighting and ambience, good cocktails and solid wine selection. Had blue cheese beignets, were just donut holes with blue cheese crumbled around them. Good but not life changing as they may have been stuffed with a blue cheese sauce or such. Green salad was surprisingly delicious, though be warned, they smother it with cilantro that isn't mentioned anywhere on the menu Beef tartar has good flavor but nothing remarkable, and the texture was very very chewy. Cauliflower gratin was decadent and baguette was delicious with All the Butter! I'd come back, not decided yet on overall quality.

    Claire was so welcoming. Her recommendations on the cava and oysters were perfect - adding the ghost pepper caviar made it special. We also couldn’t get over the gnocchi and the muscles. Sitting out on the patio with someone as attentive as Claire made all the difference. We will definitely be back.

    Ventured out for our weekly date night and had a great time. Food, service and ambiance was on point. I am a cheese and wine lover and the Cheese and charcuterie board is a must. The shaved Brussels salad paired with the gnocchi dish didn’t disappoint. Definitely recommending you to our network. Cheers!

    Went for my birthday with some girl friends and it was excellent. The waitress and bar staff were incredible. Food was amazing. Can’t wait to go back.

    Great ambience and happy hour options. My steak and frites was wonderful and cooked medium rare perfectly. But the bar service was a bit amiss, we ordered cocktails that came late and wine for mains that didn’t come at all. Our waiter was understanding and made up for it.

    What a pleasant surprise! Excellent takes on French cuisine in a typical South Austin vibe. Casual, unpretentious, delicious. Our waiter, Mark, was excellent. The roasted bone marrow is a must.

    The mussels were really good with spicy garlicky juice and surprising basil leaves. The cream brûlée had an interesting thym flavor. It was the highlights of an overcrowded place were we could not hear each other. Our party sat on the high chairs in the middle of the room, that resembles a wind tunnel between the kitchen and the patio. The chicken was not cook evenly and the side veggies were inexistant. We had to order French fries to calm our appétit bottom line the price is not justify despite a welcoming waitress. We are still waiting for Houston like tables in Austin with true French dish ( boeuf bourguignon, ratatouille, king cake type frangipane ).

    Loved everything about 1417. From the gentle lighting to the flowers table side, the ambiance is second to none in Austin. The food is fantastic, definitely try the Brussels salad and steak frites - and don’t leave without trying the duck confit. The duck is abundant, not overpowering, and perfectly paired with a parsnip purée. I was smitten. We will be back!
