15 Stamford - The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore
I enjoyed the ambience, decor and food. A positive dining experience
We had laksa and chicken rice. I asked for some sambal chilly for the laksa but the staff have no knowledge of what is sambal chilly. The chicken rice was not very good either. The rice is not fragrance enough and the way you serve in a bowl looks pathetic. Most important the rice is not hot. Lastly I order a cappuccino and is not what I should pay for $12.00 as it is not worth it. I feedback to the staff and he told me that it is from the machine and not handmade as we used to pay $6 to $7 for a freshly made cup. I can easily get a good cup of good coffee outside. Overall, I don t mind spending but it must be good to warrant this kind of pricing.
Grand experience. Great service and food.
The welcome was very warm and the service staff were very friendly. The food was interesting and imaginative with a variety of Asian and Western (steaks) choices. Food was fresh and very well prepared. Service was swift and unobtrusive. The A/C was full blast and because I was there early before it filled up, it was quite chilly, but the hostess kindly provided a shawl. I will definitely return. Would be good for a business meal, a romantic dinner, dinner with friends or drinks by the bar. Very pleasant.
Food was awesome and they prepared a desert for our Anniversary, very thoughtful!
The food taste bad, and the price is ridiculously expensive
We ordered at about 730pm and 10 minutes later, the waitstaff said the rendang dish was sold out. How a main on the menu is sold out on a Friday night before 8pm is beyond me. I’ve never had that experience at a restaurant before. And why wait 10 minutes after we have ordered to tell us? I can understand if it’s a special on the menu but it isn’t. So we asked them to give us a couple of minutes to decide on another main and 10 minutes later no one came to take our next order. We had to wave our hands a few times to get their attention. The food was mediocre at best. If we had to pick a best dish, it is the bone marrow starter, but it was so little and minuscule, it felt like we had a big bone with 2 teaspoonfuls of marrow. The wagyu hor fun and the cod mains were bland, there isn’t any memorable tasting notes for them. The eggplant side dish saved the day but even that wasn’t wow! For a mid to high end restaurant, the service, although polite, was very slow and absent. Many times we had to crane our necks and wave and wave to get their attention, and the restaurant wasn’t even full! To topi it off, we were seated at a corner with a freezing air con blowing at us. We wanted to change tables but it was so hard to get the attention of the wait staff, we just grinned and bear it. Overall, the dining experience was underwhelming. We had high hopes for it given that it’s by a well known Chef, but alas, it was a disappointing experience. We had 2 starters, 1 main, 1 noodle dish, 1 side, 1 dessert and 2 cocktails and our Bill was $260. Not recommended. Spend your money elsewhere.
Ambience may have piqued my curiosity; but a decadent laksa, decent beef Rendang short ribs; and piece de resistance - Bak Kut Teh Pork Chops - were among many wins tonight.
Early days for this beautifully fitted out hotel but my wife and I enjoyed a beautifully crafted dinner in the Hotel's signature restaurant. The food was creative, beautifully presented and enticing. It was a shame that the service was a little clunky with very little knowledge and/or insights around the menu, wine being "out of stock", plates attempting to be cleared before we had finished and too many IPAD menus! Will definitely return as the food is compelling.
Very good dishes and spacious place nice decor
The food was decent. The service was prompt.. in removing our unfinished food... we had to stop the waitress few times to not remove our unfinished dishes.
