Located on Dolores St, between Ocean and 6th Avenue, our Downtown Carmel Tasting Room is conveniently located next to fine dining restaurants, lodging, and other retail stores. Albatross Ridge Winery specializes in premium Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grown on our Estate in Carmel Valley, just seven miles from Carmel by the Sea. Our recent 2014 release was rated by Wine Enthusiast 94 & 95 points! Albatross Ridge was also recognized by Wine Enthusiast as one of the most Dramatic Vineyards in California.

In the early 1930's my grandfather William Hawley Bowlus began launching his one of a kind Albatross sailplanes off the ridges of Carmel Valley. Today our family carries on his avant-garde legacy farming Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on a steep Carmel Valley ridge overlooking the Carmel Bay only seven miles in the distance.

Our wines are crafted exclusively from our estate vineyared which consists of 25 acres of premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay varietals. Our vineyard is farmed organically and we only use native yeasts during fermentation to showcase the purest expression of our wines. Our second time here after loving it least year. Whilst service and drinks are excellent, it’s disappointing that the city has decided to ban all outdoor seating. Please bring back - the city feels so different without outdoor seating. We both developed bad colds (first in over two years) soon after returning home to SF Bay Area and firmly believe that it is due to having to sit inside busy restaurants/wine bars .

It was a Tuesday night and we were the only foursome in for the tasting. Our hostess was terrific. We enjoyed the tasting and their bread and charcuterie board was a perfect appetizer before we left for dinner. The newly updated location is beautiful and as locals we will return. It is a great addition to downtown.

Fantastic service with a well educated wine server. She obviously loves her job and the wine she provided. The wine was wonderful and I actually loved the Chardonnay, which is very unusual for me. I will definitely be back!

Friendly service, we did the flight of 5 wines. Of the 5 wines, only one was borderline decent. None of the other wines tasted good to our party or four. But keep in mind everyone has different taste. Wine can be very objectionable. We just hope they offer better wines to sample down the road as it really is a lovely location and setting and everyone working there is very nice.

They are trying to just make a buck. One of very few wineries open til 8 pm so always booked, but offering a fire affected super smoky rose from 2020 as a tasting because no one will biy it, and crazy high prices for the terrible quality wine. This place is an atrocity to wine lovers. Please avoid it! This place should be out of business. They care about dollars over wine.

Upon arrival we had to find someone to take us to our table. We had to ask for fresh glasses for the tasting and the server got the years of the wines mixed up. We ordered a charcuterie platter which took a while to come and very skimpy on cheeses

It was the start of our Mothers and Daughters Weekend! Wine tasting was our first stop as we headed to Carmel. My mom, cousin, and her mother had never visited Carmel. My cousin loves Pinot and the reviews were highly rated. Nicole was courteous, friendly, and very attentive! The owners both stopped by and made us feel welcomed. Truly a beautiful experience for our weekend get-a-way!
