Alden and Harlow
While reservations are strongly suggested, we also save a portion of the dining room and bar for walk-ins in the event that your request cannot be accommodated. So please, come on in!
Parties of more than 8, please call to make a reservation.
Had a wonderful time for my birthday. Enjoyed the tapas style menu. The timing of the food coming out made it feel like a fancy tasting menu. Everything was delicious. Some favorites were the lamb belly, chestnut tortellini, and smoked trout. Also loved the grapefruit buttercream birthday cake at the end, a great surprise! Can’t wait to come back!
Very good food, drinks, atmosphere. Would definitely go again when in town
Went for dinner before attending a play at the ART. Great location for this, but that's about it, except for the service which was just fine. Quite noisy, very limited menu, especially for my vegetarian wife. Their signature burger, which I ordered medium, came essentially rare. Broccoli undercooked and stems not peeled, making it nearly impossible to cut. Pinot Noir by the glass not impressive. Will not be returning.
Great place! nice cocktail selection
Great food, some spicy cocktails. Good place to have a dinner with friends. Friendly staff.
Awesome service and spectacular food. Host and manger went out of their way to get seating we asked for.
Everyone very friendly. Three of us ordered 2 plates each. First plates arrived in a good time. 2 of 3 final plate arrived a bit longer than expected. Third plate took long time. Had to ask server status of third plate. Food was very good.
The food was very disappointing. Quality was mediocre but prices high. Tapas selections were limited and serving size small. Even the cocktails were bland!
I would not recommend it.
Delicious and interesting food in a warm, hip environment.
Great food and service
Very good food and a nice atmosphere, with a wide assortment of vegetarian and meat dishes. Plan to order 2 or 3 small plates per person, which can get expensive. If you like wine be prepared to buy 3 glasses at ~$16/glass, because that's what you need to order to equal what you can get in just one glass at any other restaurant. The service was generally good, but we felt pushed to order our food quickly, presumably so that we would finish early and make room for the next group.
Everything was great! The food was a little cold, but it tasted great. Amazing balance of flavors and presentation was awesome!
Wonderful service - the food was good, our dessert was actually our favorite part of the meal.
Always an amazing experience at Alden & Harlow! The food is to die for and the ingredients are always fresh. The waitstaff is very helpful in assisting guests navigate the menu which is meant for sharing. Cocktails are top notch as well!
Felt a bit rushed waiting for our guests to arrive.
Food was excellent & Wine pours are exceptionally small.
Best to order a bottle.
Nice birthday dinner! Fun with friends and great food :)
Great food, we had a huge table for 5 (could have fit 8) in the middle, the accommodations were very nice. Highly recommend
Food is tasty and creative, but portions are mostly 'small plate', so multiple plates are needed for a substantial meal. As a result the total bill increases quite rapidly, hence my rating that the value is not good. The vibe of the restaurant is heavily Harvard Square hipster..
Excellent, as always!
Love the food here! So many unique dishes and everything tastes amazing. It’s pricey though. Service is always great.
My family and I spent a wonderful evening at Alden and Harlow. We enjoyed delicious tapas and some wine.
I was pretty disappointed with my visit. The cocktails were delicious, but the food (the main reason I had come) was mediocre - definitely not worth the price tag. Also, one person in my party got the "secret burger" and it came with this huge pile of potato chips. Don't get me wrong, I love potato chips just as much as the next person. But
a) if you're going to serve a burger, serve it with fries.
OR b) if you want to be fancy because you're an upscale venue, serve it with some fancy fries or a cool salad or something.
Just don't serve it with dry, slightly burnt tasting potato chips. I used to work at a diner and we would mound potato chips next to a sandwich as a cheap plate-filler. It's tacky when a $$ venue uses diner tactics, but then charges $8 for a side of bread....
Come here for a drink and maybe a snack and you'll enjoy it - but don't think of this a dinner venue or you'll be disappointed.
We love Alden and Harlow! Some off our favorites - cauliflower fritters, burrata, roasted yams, corn pancakes, Welfleet clams and garganelli. Service was excellent...the server was well informed, asked many questions and gave lots of feedback. One of our favorite restaurants for family gatherings. Food very creative, fun and most of all delicious!!
WE LOVE ALDEN & HARLOW. THE DISHES ARE CREATIVE, DELICIOUS AND REASONABLY PRICED.
THE STAFF ARE ATTENTIVE, KNOWLEDGEABLE AND VERY FRIENDLY. WHY GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!! ALSO, BIG SUPPORTERS OF "NO KID HUNGRY"!!!
Each item that came out of the kitchen was better than the previous one. Food was amazing. Atmosphere was comfortable and service was great.
Went here for Sunday Brunch and it was amazing. Food and drink options were great and the service was awesome. Would highly recommend for any meal.
Sharing plates are slightly larger than typical tapas - two of us would have been fine with 2 "snack" size and 2 regular size; 3 regular size was almost too much. Everything was so special and delicious, I don't know what I would have cut though...
Went here at the last minute with my wife for my 30th birthday after some plans got cancelled. Had never been before but it came highly recommended, and for good reason. The trout dish is a must, and the squash and avocado salad and garganelli were fantastic as well. We got an olive oil cake for dessert that was moist and delicious. The drinks were fantastic, the beer list deep, and I'm looking forward to finding a chance to go back to try more of the menu.
What I like about this place is the novel combinations of ingredients. You think "Does that really go together?" and it nearly always is so, so good. The roasted yams had a fabulous flavor. We had no idea what togarashi aioli was, but it was delicious. We loved the charred broccoli, which had a delicious butternut squash pool for dipping. Most of us loved the mackerel with celeriac. The Chestnut Tortelloni has a smooth filling of apples and chestnuts and was something a bit unusual. The Steelhead Trout was delicious and the squash latkes provided the right crispness to enjoy with the fish. Corn pancakes were delicious although I could have done with the maple syrup on the side. Service was knowledgable and fairly attentive. The place was very busy and people were having a great night out.
Our meal was outstanding from start to finish. Great service, atmosphere, and food. Loved the corn pancakes, charred broccoli, and trout special. I wish we had time for dessert. Great for pre- ART show.
Absolutely delightful. Great, creative food. Good wine selection. The staff is amazing. They even figured to how to call me from open table phone number to tell me I lost my gloves. I loved my meal and wine! So did my friend who is hard to please : )
The food was even better than I remember! Wow, great variety, generous portions and relaxed and competent service.
Went with a group of 7 and ordered 8 dishes and cocktails. Dishes are small, so order 2-3 per person to leave feeling full. Each dish was delicious and creative. Cocktails were also interesting and tasty. Went for a birthday and noted that on the reservation. Server and staff never mentioned it even after carding everyone and seeing the birthday. Warm, quiet atmosphere.
COOL VIBE AND REALLY EXCLETIC AND CREATIVE FOOD CHOICES. LOVED THE TROUT DINNER AND THE TUNA APPITIZER
The majority of dishes were delicious, but the ones that weren't really weren't.
Heartily recommend the kale salad with pistachios and the burrata on a pumpkin loaf. Burger was also very good.
Cosmo was very limey and fresh.
Brussel sprouts would have been tasty but were ruined by way too much salt. Chicken in the chicken thigh roll had a weird consistency, and also was too salty.
The food was very very salty.
We love the Alden and Harlow’s secret burguers. The problem is that the burguer is limited, and many times we went there and couldn’t eat it. We realize that the reason it’s limited might be to make it special, but we hope that one day, the burguer won’t be limited, as we believe it’s the best burguer ever.
My favorite restaurant in Boston! Never disappoints 😋
Absolutely phenomenal. The staff, cuisine and ambiance was all approachable and comfortable, yet refined and regal. If you’re lucky enough to have the option to get the secret burger, it’s a necessity!
We had a large party of 8 people with dietary restrictions and the menu was able to feed us all. The staff was attentive and on point during a busy New Year’s Eve dinner. The cocktail list was creative and their full bar had good selections.
