Service was fast/nice. The duck confit was extremely salty, and it tasted as if it had been refrigerated (pre-cooking, probably frozen for a wks/months). Same "refrigerator" taste for the creme brulee: didn't taste fresh, no vanilla or rich taste other than just heavy creme taste. My friend's salad looked good...
We appreciate the great waiters! Good service with a smile!
Excellent food, service, and ambiance, although the music was a little loud for conversation.
Veggie risotto was great!
Very welcoming staff. Darkly-lit which made reading the menu difficult. The food was adequate. They served the bread after the appetizer, which was disappointing.
The crab croquettes had too much potato in it, the Tarte Tatin was old and should not have been served. The wine and the oysters were very good. If they up their game food-wise, I'd return.
Late Saturday brunch- very good fresh food. Lots of choices for eggs. Could've used a few more without eggs. Great Bloody Mary. Definitely returning.
Great food, but slow service, seemed understaffed.
Thanks for a lovely dinner. The reggae music was a awesome bonus!
When I arrived a little early the guy outside said I had to have. Glass of wine inside. The woman inside said of course I could sit outside at table
Then very soon at the end of dinner
(2 persons) they insisted we leave
Not customer friendly
Second time there in a few weeks and food is consistently good.
A reliable neighborhood spot. food is consistently good.
Amazing restaurant!!! We will definitely be back!!
Food was wonderful! Everything we ordered was so good! The tuna tartare and oysters and escargot along with the burger and mussels were all delicious! The only negative about the place is that the outdoor seating wasn't the nicest. Either sit at teeny tables on the sidewalk or what looks to be unsafe seating in the street with no barriers to protect you in case a car veers to the right up first ave. Overall however since the food was so good I will definitely be back!!
Best escargot on the UES! Great spot for happy hour, date night or late night!
Food is delicious, service is poor.
Absolutely delicious! Very busy and energetic with the awesome live band! I’m so happy that AOC is thriving (and that I live across the street!)! :)
We sat for twenty minutes & no one ever came to offer us a drink or take our order. We left.
Went for lunch and it was delicious! The oysters were fresh, very cold and cleaned properly. Escargot was traditional style and bubbling hot, salads were crisp and fresh! And of course the Sancerre wine was impeccable and by the glass options. I love this place for any and all type of dining.
What a gem of a restaurant. The ambience is so warm and inviting and the food and service top-notch.
This is a perfect neighborhood French bistro. They could not have been more attentive, the food was good and we will be returning very soon.
Neighborhood gem that I would definitely return to. Evokes a Parisian bistro.
Wonderful experience. Delicious wine, great service, nice place for a date. Wish you had a location on the UWS.
yum, always can get a table. French fun. Live music sometimes.
Love the live reggae band on Wednesday and the food is always good.
The food was pretty good but the noise level was uncomfortable and off the chart. The service was slow and they left plates on the table when the main course came we had to move them. I had to get up and ask for the check after waiting 30 minutes and then it was another 20 minutes till they picked it up. All this waiting despite the host telling us we needed to order quickly at the begging because they wanted to turn the table over.
Great atmosphere, delicious food!
Was really tasty with great wines and pairings, but we were surrounded by kids on all sides that were literally screaming the entire time
The food always satisfies, and service is friendly and attentive. Why can’t they make their outdoor dining spaces more attractive!
Food was okay. Nothing to write home about. Duck confit was dry and salty. Kale salad was bland. Escargots were decent. They didn’t serve bread until about half an hour into finishing appetizers and waiting for entrees. We also had fries with truffle oil - this was probably the better item of all the rest we ate.
In terms of service, it was mediocre. We had to constantly get the waiters attention to bring us water, give him our orders, get him to bring check, etc. kept waiting 10mins in between every course just to get next round of items. And it wasn’t busy that he was on his toes or anything. Just not proper waiter qualities.
Anyways, ambiance was nice. Food was so-so. Service so-so. Not visiting this restaurant again.
Wonderful as always!
Disappointing, no attention to customer. First impression was a disaster: I had booked online a table of 5 and arrived on time with my friends. I stepped alone inside the narrow restaurant to give my reservation name but there was no one to greet me . A waiter passed by me and hardly acknowledged my presence. The second time he passed me I said “hi” hoping to catch his attention and he said he would come back in a minute but never did. After more than 5 minutes a couple stepped in and waited with me. After a while they asked me how long I had been waiting because they too had a reservation and did not understand what was going on. In the meantime one of my friends joined me inside and asked me what was the hold up…During all this waiting time there was a staff member at the back of the restaurant manning the bar and he could totally see we were waiting . After another couple of minutes and still no waiter in sight, the other couple started waving at him and only then did he shout back at us: “I see you”! . Eventually he came and directed us to our table but never apologized for the wait.
Once at our table service was slow but waiter was nice. However bread arrived long after the starters were served and we had to wave at the waiter to remind him to bring it.
Food wise: disappointing compared to last time I was there (March 2020 just before confinement) and more expensive (price inflation). Not my best French restaurant experience since New York re-opened and rather expensive for the kind of quality you get. If you want to try a nice French place on the upper east side and get a better value for your money for the same budget range, try Café d’Alsace.
I love this restaurant/wine bar. They have a great menu with delicious food and wine. Very pretty atmosphere.
Really off night for them / I won’t be going back any time soon
Will definitely be back
Outdoor dining offered however very hot with no air circulation. Similar to eating in a greenhouse. Waiter was good .
Amazing experience. Great ambience, food. Feels like a very authentic French restaurant.
My favorite spot on the upper East side…great food and friendly staff!
I have been coming to AOC East for many years. I love the French bistro atmosphere and the wonderful food. The fresh raw oysters are a fabulous treat. Yesterday, the food did not disappoint. What did disappoint, however, what’s the service. Every time we tried to order our kept trying to walk away which made us unsure if he was really listening to us. Turns out he wasn’t and he never put our dinner order in so we sat for an almost an hour with no food. When we asked him what happened to our dinner he had no idea what we were talking about so he apologized, gave us another round of drinks for free and put our dinner order in. All‘s well that ends well. But it was definitely frustrating. The service basically never improved through the evening. But we had a great time because the food and the wine are truly wonderful.
Great burgers! Good wine and service. A neighborhood favorite.
I just love AOC. When you arrive you are greeted warmly. The Manager Ayoub is an amazing host. He attracts many diners with his warm and upbeat personality. He is well travelled and can hold a conversation with anyone on any topic in 6 different languages. He has a superb knowledge of wines. His staff are also top notch and very attentive with service.
Pricing is reasonable and food is great.
