Unfortunately the food was average. The seafood pasta dish came with overcooked pasta and the veal marsala was very tough. I would love to have this restaurant be excellent as it could be a local gem. The service and the ambiance were terrific. SO IF they can get the cooking right it could easily be 5 Star. I'll give it another try so fingers are crossed.
Paul the next time you come in can you please ask for me, Jay Saponaro, owner. I will personally insure no fingers cross quality on me. Thank you for taking the time to write your review, we'll use this to make all correction.
Real authentic Italian food. My coworker recommended I stopped by and I’m glad I did because now I have local bar and great food.
Thank you, Michael. you have great taste.
Quaint little restaurant. I prefer weeknights rather than weekends because I can get a bit crowded. Tim the waiter is excellent and the food is outstanding
Thank you , Tony for the great review. If you want we have a smaller room on weekends that only has 3 tables anyone can ask to be seated there.
Bacio was a wonderful place to celebrate our anniversary. Tim was a perfect host and server. The food was fresh and delicious. We were very happy with our experience.
Thank you for the kind review. It is truly a great day when we make your celebration perfect.
The menu sounded great. I had the veal chop which was great tasting but way undercooked by the bone. For$28 I should have been able to eat the whole thing especially since no side came with the meal. My husband got the stuffed fish - the crab was cold in the center! My daughter got the lobster ravioli which was hot and she enjoyed. We won’t be going back
Very friendly and comfortable ambience. The food is tasty and generous. I would recommend for spontaneous "let's go out tonight" and for special occasions and small groups (5-8). Very interesting bar and wine choices.
Used to go to old location and loved it. White wine was served warm, food was undercooked. The pasta used to melt in your mouth and now just taste like box pasta. Sadly will never go back. The food wasn’t good at all.
So sorry you had a bad time. Can you please tell me what you order. We use reviews as a learning tool. also who was your server? Please call us for a gift certificate I am sure if you give us another try we can match our old location standers. I'm not sure what pasta you had however, all our receipts are the same. Homemade pasta for the ravioli, lasagna, gnocchi and Papadelli. Box Pasta for seafood and spaghetti. This is very upsetting please contact me Jay the owner 215-248-2740.
We always have a great experience at Bacio.
The owner and staff went out of their way to make our experience very pleasant, and we will be hppy to go back again. Their new location is quieter and the parking is easer to use too.
This was our first visit to Bacio and we were pleasantly surprised. There was a large parking lot on the side and behind the restaurant. Our server worked the entire room alone and was so efficient and pleasant. The food was excellent. My pasta dish had a large number of chopped and whole clams. We were impressed and intend to return with friends.
Though there were only 5 tables of diners, staff was literally running through the dining room. It was odd.
Food was delicious and reasonably priced.
I am so sorry for your bad experiance with our staff. You came in on a holiday night. Our one staff member is a very happy person. On busy nights he usually is in the dish room. He is the best person ever, yet I can understand that he may have been a little over the top. Please understand that it will never happen again. I am so sorry we have failed you.nI would bappy tongue you dinner for twomon us just call me Jay to set it upon.
Great food. Problem that no bartender working so no pre-dinner cocktails or even coffee was available to have with dessert.
Great food and service. Pastas are outrageously good.
you are the best
My daughter is vegan and can always get an app and stuffed vegan ravioli that she really loves. I had the special which was flounder stuffed with crabmeat and it was really good and it was $24 not the usual really expensive amount you sometimes get charged for a special at other restaurants. We always enjoy our meal at Bacio.
At Bacio we want all families dietary needs to be welcoming. Vegan, Gluten free, Meat, and Fish eaters can all dine at the same table. Thank you for your kind review. Please let us know how we can improve to earn at least one more star. Jay Saponaro, owner Bacio
Typical suburban Italian food, ok but nothing special. Only half full but very slow service. Hate to see how they handle a busy night
Russ, Thank you for taking the time to share you review of our restaurant. As the owner, it is reviews such as yours that are most important to our growth of a better restaurant. Can you please tell me more of your disliked of our food and who was your server. We work very hard and long hours making all the dishes from starch. I am friends with a lot of downtown restaurant who tell me I am crazy for making in house raviolis and pasta. Thank you, Jay saponaro
Great dinner with excellent service!
Like having dinner with old friends. So warm, friendly and accommodating. They will do anything within reason to make your dining experience special. The food was amazing, way past the expectations of my guests. The owner is totally hands on, the staff professional and friendly, and the menu flexible .One guest was vegan and was surprised by the array of choices, thy actually make two lasagnas, one with meat, one without. This is a place that goes beyond good food and service. They want you to be happy! And happy we were. All 7 of us were just that.
OMG.. You got us. We truly are all you say. Thank you for the great review we work hard every day just for you. thank you, Jay Saponaro Owner , Chef
Great food and friendly servers. We sat in a small room in the back that was quiet, but could use some
plants or art and drapes rather than a blind that covered the whole window in the room.
Very neighborhood feel and owner has done a fine job of transitioning to a new location from Mt.Airy to
This was my first time at the new place & it was not disappointing. Food was great loved the atmosphere service was awesome as well keep up the good work!
"A new restaurant on Bethlehem Pike Erdenheim, PA (19038) is like a little piece of Italy in the Philadelphia suburbs. For many years it was Fingers, and then underwent several transitions before recently becoming the site of a wonderful, re-located Mount Airy favorite called Bacio’s. Motto “Eat, Drink, Kiss.” It is a BYOB with excellent Italian-themed dinners. We had Mothers’ Day dinner there (Each mother was presented with a red rose). The pasta was dreamy, the salads exquisite, fish and meat entrees to die for (after the recommended kiss).
Located in a formerly residential house just down the road from Chestnut Hill, Bacio’s has been redone in a chic black and white theme in a cosy atmosphere. The wait staff is gracious, the food gloriously and genuinely Italian, not drowned in red sauce, but delicate and subtle - highly recommended is the sage ravioli. It is well worth a visit, fairly reasonable, and is a much needed addition to the Northwest Philadelphia and suburbs restaurant scene. We will be back soon. -Joan Forde
thank you for the kind review
Food was good but not consistently hot among our orders. One special entree was unavailable at beginning of shift, waitress disappeared for 20 minutes, never an interest or offer to take drink order until we asked, and service just seemed disorganized. Bar menu strangely advertises a “regular vodka and mixers”. Suggestion: bring your own bottle.
Happy Mothers day to you too
BACIO is always good. Relax have dinner and good bottle of wine. All staff very welcoming.
Bacio was fully booked so the noise level was on the high side but tolerable, even though we were at a corner table. The ambiance is very nice, uncluttered but stylish. There is a parking lot which was nearly full but there was plenty space on the adjacent street. The menu has changed only moderately since we used to eat at the Mt.Airy location. As to appetizers, Bacio continues to do calamari well, never rubbery and only lightly powdered with seasoned flour before cooking. The beet salad was generous and happily shared by two in our party. We had a variety on entrees and all of the party of six were happy. One was a vegan and the restaurant had a good number of options for him. Bacio has a full bar but encourages BYOB. If you choose to bring white wine, chill it well because no ice bucket service is provided. This isn’t a complaint because I think this is a reasonable practice for a restaurant that doesn’t charge a corking fee. I rated the service a little lower than the overall because while the servers were gracious and pleasant, the dishes of pasta and vegetables for the table arrived significantly later than the entrees. No comment on desserts because we had other plans. Nevertheless, what was offered looked good.
Place is small, but the food is good.
Amazing food and service. This is a place I can (and will) visit over and over again. Their romaine salad, pastas, and the chocolate walnut tart are my favorite. The tart is come kind of nutty chocolate magic I highly reccomend trying. The service is always impeccable.
The food and service are amazing. There is a wonderful warm environment and the chef is the best!
We love. Baccio! Food is excellent! Service is excellent also. Very friendly atmosphere. Welcoming!
Service good food very good and served hot and tasted homemade especially pastas and raviolis. Would recommend
As long-time customers of Bacio, and as two vegans, we continue to be amazed at Owner-Chef Jay's creativity and amazing cuisine! Once again, we had a magnificent meal, from salad to vegan custard berry tartlets for dessert. Jay really believes in customizing meals, so we always call ahead and specify that we want two vegan meals (thanks, Open Table, for leaving room for this info on your reservation page!), and then he uses whatever is fresh to create masterpieces for us every time!
Thank you, Tamar. You and Sam make it fun to cook.
Many items on the menu were not available. Lots! It was quite frustrating.
Thank you for your four star review. I am concern of your frustration.... that is not why we work very hard every day to bring fresh food to your table . What where you told we where out of? All our food is made fresh, Sunday's we do from time to time run out of fresh fish or meats. The only thing I know we where out of was Lobster and three desserts . I am sorry and I will work harder to be sure it dose not happen again. Thank you for bring this to my attention, Jay Saponaro Owner/chef
all good on a Thursday eve-- food, service, and noise level
My wife and I had high hopes for visiting Bacio for the first time based on the reviews we had read. No question but that the food was delicious. Every course was well prepared and presented elegantly. However, the service was not good. Our waiter was very nice. However, when she explained that we had shown up right when "they got slammed" by a large influx of patrons, that just didn't cut it for us. On a Saturday night at 7:30pm at a popular restaurant, you have to be prepared for a big crowd. And, Bacio, evidently, did not do so this past Saturday night when we showed up. They need to bring on a few more waiters in cases like ours to remain successful.
Bacio is a gem you almost don't want to tell your friends about. The food is amazing, the chef is personable and accommodating and the service is great. Definitely a regular spot for us!
thank you we love you
We enjoyed drinks at the bar before dinner. The food and the service were top notch and the owner was super nice. We will definitely return!
Second visit in 2 months.
Food - very good - split the charred romaine which was charred correctly and not burnt. Suggest they offer to chop it up for the patrons - it's a bit unwieldy unless you're good with knife. Partner had the Portuguese scallops again and were again very good. I had the veal chop which was excellent. Suggest a different side pasta other than linguine - maybe penne would pair better. Chocolate Mousse pie was tasty but lacked presentation appeal.
Noise - fine - we were seated in the back room, and it was quieter than the larger room.
Ambiance - maybe because the building is old, it just feels a bit less than elegant.
Service - good but missing some small touches that you might see a local competitor like Mica - crumbs removed from the table, appropriate changes to cutlery, "may I clear your plate?" vs. "are you done?" but all that can be learned and doesn't really take away from a very nice dinner overall - continue to recommend.
Authentic and the staff make you feel like you're part of the family. Be sure to have a reservation and everything else will fall into place.
Thank you John, for taking the time to write such kind words
Nice old fashioned house converted to an Italian restaurant. Food was good all around except nothing came with the entrees, and we weren't asked if we wanted or if they offered any sides. My chicken piccata was tasty but it looked naked on the plate without any sides/ vegetables. The restaurant could've made more profit, because 4 of the 5 of us would've shared some side dishes. All in all, buyer beware and I'd recommend it.
As always, great food and service, a real neighborhood gem😊!
A Very special "Gem" . Tremendous effort made to make things nice. Waiter Tim is great. It was very busy early on a Wed. (packed)… They had it covered... Everyone seemed pleased.. We were.
Our meal--which consisted solely of generously-portioned appetizers for each of us--was good and worthy of a return visit. But the service, while polite, was annoying. In several instances, a hot appetizer was served while a cold appetizer was still being eaten; and then, when the cold appetizer was set aside to eat the hot one, a waiter or busser would stop by every few minutes to ask if we were finished with the cold appetizer. This happened so often that we got the giggles.
thank your for giving us a try. So sorry we fell short of your standers. I am the the chef/owner and I am so happy you enjoyed our long hours of make food fresh to perfection. However, for the prices we charge you.... You can't expect the services you demand. May I suggest the Four Seasons or the Ritz for perfection in services. We are just a small inexpensive BYOB. And good luck ordering just apprizes at the Four Seasons.
