Everything was great. Loved my halibut!
Outstanding meal as always. Celebrate my birthday there every year because of the consistent quality, service and overall experience. Love Bar Mezzana!
We were greeted and shown to our seats immediately. The service was outstanding - efficient and friendly. We shared the Ricotta Crostini and it was delicious. We also shared two entrees - the Tagliolini which was quite good and the Ricotta Tortelli. The Tortelli had great flavors, but was absolutely swimming in oil which made it almost inedible. This dish could have been great, but the ratios were totally off. The ‘spring pesto’ was disappointing and contained approximately 5 over cooked peas. Pistachios on top had pieces of shell!
Good food and lively ambiance. The menu selection was decent and well executed.
Always love Bar Mezzana. Menu changes are especially appreciated. Too noisy inside, but that has become the restaurant norm.
Always delicious, creative--with warm and perfect service. One of my very favorite Boston restaurants.
Recommend to a Friend? We recommend Bar Mezzana to EVERYONE!!
One of our favorite restaurants in Boston. As foodies we can be particular and the staff, the food, the cocktails and the bright, fresh, open surroundings can't be beat!
The menu is not huge but everything on it is special. Raw fish crudos are small but oh so good! the salads are inventive and lovely and the Pastas are always on point!
A true GEM.
See you there!
went for brunch- Eggs were over cooked in multiple dishes; service was incredibly slow and inattentive. Disappointing given I’ve always had great experiences for dinner.
Loved it here! Sat outside and service and food were both fantastic! Will return
Amazing. Must get the CRUDOS. Apparenlty I have to write 50 in lengths to submit this review so I'm writing this part.
We decided to have the plate of the day special with the crudos, crostinnis, main courses and desserts. Food was fantastic, service was great and timely. Glad we tried it. Everyone in our party of 5 liked it.
Bar Mezzana is my choice whenever I want to take someone out for a beautifully prepared dinner in Boston. Great flavors, high quality, consistent preparations, creative flavors all topped out with remarkable service. But it’s not just a special occasion place. I could eat here every night. Chicken under a brick, lobster paccheri, orrechiete with sausage and broccoli rabe, crostinis, crudo, it’s all good. Heather and Colin Lynch know what they are doing. Go!
3 years old and going strong.
Acoustics need to be improved, it’s too loud to talk
Great food , service was excellent! It was our anniversary and they bought over a dessert as a COMP!
Thanks for making our graduation dinner special! One of the best nights out we have had in a while.
Every dish lived up to its promise - fresh, new and exciting; great ambience and service.
It’s a go to for a reason! Excellent food, service, drink and atmosphere. The crudo tasting is a must. Follow with a couple crostinis for the table (my fave is the gorgenzola). End with a pasta!
Lovely graduation celebration dinner and great service
Short rib pappardelle and orecchiette with sausage were two of the best pastas we’ve ever eaten, anywhere. If we lived in Boston, this place would be in our regular rotation.
Took wife, and 4 others to dinner on Saturday night. Food was excellent as was the service. The price fixed option is way to go. Three crudos, two appetizers, two salads, two pastas, one meat and two deserts. Wonderful variety, plenty of food. Crudos came 3 pieces to a plate (2 plates). Pastas and salads were served family style (large plate, help yourself).
Interesting wine list, very good cocktail list.
Service was by team, requests (extra bread) were quickly executed.
For the price, meal was a great value - lots of variety, high quality, ample portions.
Excellent meal, great service
Our waiter Anthony was wonderful!! The herbal cocktail and the pasta with crispy prosciutto was outstanding. Best yellowtail crudo I have ever had.
Well prepared delicious food. Elegant modern space.
Really good food and service. Will definitely be back!
Food was outstanding. Not terribly innovative, but really delicious, sophisticated, and beautifully executed. One of my main complaints with restaurants is that they’re so inconsistent from course to course, but this meal was excellent throughout. The low point of our meal was dessert, with the panna cotta being more of a pudding, not set at all, and the chocolate mousse was frozen and not that exciting. They were bad, just not that good. Overall, the meal was delicious and the service was excellent.
A lovely surprise, as I had read about creative crudo flavors and excellent homemade pastas, but I did not expect to be wowed - and I totally was. Was the crudo delicious? Yes! And we had the sampler, which showcases the sweet, savory and sour notes that make crudo so refreshing! And the pasta was perfect in texture, flavor and proportion with the sauces (I had the short rib). But what wowed me were the items that I didn’t expect to be sooooo good - the prosciutto dates that were like dessert, the mortadella cubes that were crispy, chewy, salty and where have they been all my life, the bread so good that it stands alone, until I need it to soak up that lovely sauce!! The chocolate mousse that looks too fancy to eat, but is decadent enough to melt luxuriously in my mouth! The service was perfect from our hostess, who set us up with an awesome table and made us feel welcome, to our server, who recommended the perfect gin for a martini, and was there exactly when we needed him. We don’t come down to the South End to eat much, but we’ll come back here!
Met with my friend who was visiting from Germany; we have 2 friends that work there. But one friend was gone and we decided to stay; the service was phenomenal, the drinks were delicious, and the anti-pasta prosciutto was so good with olives, Parmesan cheese, amazing bread, and different types of meats. Bar Mezzana is pricey, but I would, definitely go back and recommend.
Food and service were outstanding. The roasted pear with speck and straciatella was a flavor sensation, with the saltiness of the speck and smooth neutrality of the cheese perfectly balancing the sweetness of the pear -- so that the dish was not really sweet at all. (I had wondered why they would serve roasted pear before the main course; the result answered my question.) Also, loved the non-alcoholic blackberry, ginger, mint and soda drink the flavors of which I nursed through three courses - so good. (Wine list is fun; will try next time.) Was a particularly comfortable dining experience for me as a solo diner. Only -- minor -- downside was the occasionally too loud, almost martial "background" music.
We had a wonderful lunch here on Mother’s Day! The entire staff was so very kind and accommodating to our 2 young children. Food was great - griddled banana bread is amazing. And the “orange you glad I didn’t say Mimosa” cocktail sure hit the spot for this Momma! We’ve enjoyed dinner here several times but now will look forward to returning for brunch as well.
Best octopus plate in town! For a party of two, we ordered not 2 but 3 of the octopus plate for apps. Great outdoor seating for warmer days, every dish was tasty. Salmon crudo dish was good, black bass entree was very good with cous cous on the side.
El crudo de Hamachi no estaba tan Bueno, la pasta muy buena, el servicio regular. En general me pareció rico y agradable pero no excelente......creo que está sobrestimado en las críticas
Fabulous food, great service, but very, very loud. Still, great experience would definitely recommend.
My girlfriend and I are working our way through Eater's best restaurants of Boston list and this is the 1st one we've been to I felt was underwhelming.
Don't get me wrong, really good food, drinks were decent. Atmosphere was whatever, a few small table and a bar, but $200 tab for what should have been $150 at most.
While you won't be disappointed with the food, there are so many high quality options for the same price in Boston (for example Fuji literally directly next door) that I just don't see the draw here.
Food and service were excellent. Noise level in restaurant was perfect. One of our guests had some very particular dietary requests and they were met with a big smile and delicious food. thank you!
Restaurant decor was fresh, modern and minimal. We chose to order various dishes from the antipasti and crostini section of the menu instead of pasta or main dishes. We felt there could have been a bigger selection for main courses. Everything we order was very good and our waiter was great. I would go back to eat here again.
Now once of my favorite restaurants. This was recommended by a foodie for foodies!!! Loved it
Our second time eating here and we will be back for sure. Every dish we had was spectacular from the spring salad to the orichiette with sausage and rabe. The “fancy toast” with ricotta, hazelnuts and honey could have been dessert but we had the delish pineapple coconut cake with dulce de leche gelato anyway.
Great spot for any occasion. Food is delicious and there are a lot of different options so that everyone can be satisfied. Sharing plates is encouraged but not mandatory
Great food. Our server was outstanding!
