It was our anniversary. Made reservations for that time. Arrived at restaurant was closed. Should not have taken reservations if closed. Great anniversary dinner NOT
Great food and very entertaining!
Disappointing. Steaks are more expensive than Perry’s but quality was more like TLC. Nice ambiance. Seems like a hobby restaurant.
One of the best in Austin area
The decor, ambiance, and music were all lovely! That made our evening. Our server, Noah did a great job for us. He was friendly and attentive. The Ceasar Salad was good. The lobster bisque was superb! My husband ordered the pasta dish with shrimp and scallops. It was a generous portion and it came steaming hot. It was delicious. I ordered the pork tenderloin and it was very dry. I ate less than 1/4 of it. We ordered the key lime pie to go which was pricey but a generous portion and quite delicious. I would recommend this restaurant but not the pork tenderloin. It is a unique dining experience.
We enjoyed a fantastic sea bass entree, the filet mignon was just as ordered and delicious. We both had one of the best wedge salads ever, and we order them whenever we can. The only reason the ratings were 4 instead of 5 was the service was a bit less than professional, although friendly.
We were really disappointed with our Bashaw's experience.
Steiner Ranch Steak House or Perry's pricing for what they called "prime" but I'm certain that it was not. The waiter we had was totally inexperienced and really didn't know what he was doing. In fact he charged my credit card for the wrong tab then came back to charge me again for our tab. He claimed that it was reversed but when I looked on my credit card this morning both charges were on it.
Aside from the lousy service and lousy steaks, the options for sides were few.
The interesting thing is that they don't publish their prices on their website menu and now I know why. $59 each for a small filet that was tough and strip steak that over cooked when I ordered rare is too much for what they are offering.
We will not be back
The sea bass and pork tenderloin were very good, but the filet and ribeye were a little tough. The servers were great.
Food and service was great. At our table we ordered filet mignon, salmon and sea bass.
Richard was entertaining with his Sinatra renditions.
As we lingered after dinner & visited by Richard, we never felt rushed out the door even though is was approaching closing time - much appreciated since we were visiting with family from out of town.
We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our meal! The service was efficient, professional and polite. The food was superb. And then there was the singer, what a delight he was to listen to. His Frank Sinatra themed music was soft, not overpowering our conversation, and a really nice touch to our evening. We will definitely be going back. I totally recommend!!!
Bashaw’s is a very interesting steakhouse option! Location is very good. Parking is excellent. Ambiance is highly enjoyable. Last night they had a show with a great Blue’s and Rock n Roll singer and entertainer. The wine selection is limited but well priced. Service was very good. All in all, a great dining experience while visiting Houston for the Formula One Grand Prix weekend. Would definitely go back for a relaxed and fun evening! Thanks for all, Page!
Movin Melvin was a blast food was just okay too expensive for the dinner we had
Music was so loud. People were asking to be moved outside do they could hear each other. My daughter and I ordered the same steak. When mine came out it was half the size as hers. Their reason was some steaks shrink more than others when they are cooked. They sent the manager over 25 minutes later and he did nothing. Don’t waste your money
Our reservation was for 7:30. We didn’t get our food until 9:30. My husband ordered a ribeye. At around 8:45 he was told if he was ok with the strip it would cook faster and that they had an issue with the grill. The food was very good but pricey and no communication on there being a problem. We noticed at 9:15 that none of the other tables in the restaurant had food either so something was up this particular night. It may be great usually. They were kind enough to take $100 off of the check without us saying anything. Probably wouldn’t go back but it may have just been an off night for them.
Slow service, dinber was late and lits of confusion
First time visit and will return. The Good: loved the ambiance, music, service. Great serving of Caesar salad and scotch. The need to improve: the NY strip was tough (hard), it was not Prime cut or maybe nor Choice quality, maybe Select; but yet, the Filet was excellent as expected, so next time Filet for sure. Maybe it's supply Covid issue but if the quality is not there don't charge the high price you charge since you are competing, at those prices, with very high end steakhouses. Owner was very friendly and present, a plus, but chose not to let him know about the steak.
Enjoy this place for it’s class, good food and live music. Staff is very attentive and have yet to have any that wasn’t delicious.
Although we were aware that this was a more upscale restaurant going in, it certainly did not live up to that standard in our opinion. We had reservations and we were quickly seated outdoors where we asked to be and that was very pleasant. Our waiter was not very familiar with the menu nor very experienced which was ok as well. However, our meals at $60.00 plus dollars a plate were not very good. I had the filet, asked for medium rare, it was well overcooked more medium well. No sides, you have to order that separate, $12.00 for potatoes. In addition, any steak toppings will put you over $80.00 for a steak! My wife had the red fish, which was not fresh, though served with some extra food on the plate, which was nice that we did not have to add for that at the end of the night. I had a couple glasses of wine, first one was at least 6 oz. however, my second glass was approximately 3 oz. or less. We were well over $200.00 at the end for a not so great experience. I would believe a much better value could be found in the Austin area as we were visiting and had better expectations for a nice anniversary meal.
We had reservations at 7:45 arrived early and we were promptly seated. Waited a few minutes for the waiter to appear. Upon his return with our drinks he took our order at 8::00. He shows up at 8:45 to tell us he will check on our food and commented it has been awhile. We watched him come out of the kitchen and instead of informing us where our order is or what’s going on he walks passed us. The food came out around 9pm. We usually come often to hear Ken sing. Was disappointed he is no longer working there but for the amount of money that we spent for the food and drinks and the 2,Uber rides was not a good value at all. Doubt we will return or recommend this restaurant in the future.
Paige was our server and she’s absolutely amazing! She provided the best service we have had in a while!
We will definitely be back to see her again!
The service was not up to standard for the fine dining rates the restaurant charges. It look a long time for orders to come in. We did not get bread till way after the drinks were served because the waiter ‘forgot’. Also we had to remind the waiter three times to get us to go boxes. The food was 50-50. Again not up to the money charged for it. The bread was cold and the fried shrimp not crisp. There were items on the menu online that were not on the menu at the restaurant.
Also the outdoor dining is actually on the front sidewalk of a strip mall next to a pharmacy or grocery store. That is not clear in the description of the place. It feels strange.
The good part was I liked the live performance and the TV outside to watch it. All in all a disappointment from fine dining standards. If it was less $$$ and casual dining it would fare better in the ratings.
Food needed help but I loved the entertainment
Great idea (good food and good live music), but the service staff needs to be trained up and be much more attentive and timely. If that was improved, the expensive menu would be easier to accept. We will be back.
Service and food and entertainment all great.
Lovely evening with friends - good food and drinks. The only thing we missed out on was the big band music, well something to look forward to next time!
Steaks were incredible, service excellent, friendly staff.
The hosts were courteous and timely and service was good, however the food was very expensive for what it was, $59 for a steak of the quality that was served, it was overpriced plus the sides were extra. Drinks were also expensive
Lovely place, extremely attentive staff, good food. Live entertainment was a pleasant surprise - Frank Sinatra classics, a real treat for Moms birthday. If youre in your 20s, maybe not your thjng.
There is a pleasant sidewalk with tables under an awning, but very few people were inside - even on Saturday night. If you are in the neighborhood, give it a try!! Nice for families too!
I hesitate to speak poorly of a restaurant in the days of Covid but I really wish I hadn’t left $500 at this place tonight. I wanted every step into Bashaw’s to be riddled with excellence but in reality this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. For starters we entered the building at 5:30 and no one was to be found for several minutes, if not five. Moving past the awkwardness once several very friendly guys surfaced from a back room we sat at our table and was greeted by a super sweet server. She took excellent care of our party of 6. And I tipped her well. It’s not her fault the following meal was lackluster. It wasn’t that the food was bad, it was that the food wasn’t good. The steaks came out lukewarm, which was surprising since the menu spoke of them being prepared under an 1800 degree oven. They were $30 steaks at best; but, in true Austin fashion ended up costing $60 instead. I have no problem paying $60 for a steak. I do not enjoy paying it for a $30 one. The sides were too cheesy to even call them vegetables. And I like cheese. A lot. I know restaurants are struggling so I feel like a Scrooge even speaking up but I also feel vehemently that I was conned out of $500 for food that was not tasty. I wish I had seen this review before I headed their way. Let’s put it this way, our dining experience at Bashaw’s was a twofer…first and last visit at the same time.
The entertainer Friday night was VERY LOUD and hokey. The first time we went was a smooth jazz trio. Will have to call in advance to see what the entertainment will be. Music was way to loud for the space.
The food was awful, from ingredients, cooking, seasoning to presentation. We couldn't even get through half the portion they provided because of how bad the food tasted, and the portion was already small to begin with. The price is through the roof and the menu was less creative than Red Lobster. The ambient feels like a tacky boomer's imagination of classiness and luxury. I'd rather spend money on taco trucks.
Great food, music and environment! Staff is excellent. Our favorite restaurant for date night.
Great food, great service, and great entertainment. What more can you ask for?
Food was good but on the expensive side. Chairs were on rollers which made seating a little challenging. Ambiance not as plush as the prices would tend to indicate.
Terrific food, drinks and service - as always. REALLY enjoyed the live music. Our friend was wildly impressed with everything but most especially that we have this amazing gem of a venue in our neighborhood. Will be my birthday dinner location for sure! My goal is to try everything on the menu. This time tried the wedge salad with balsamic glaze. Delicious! And our steaks were perfection as was our family sized side corn dish. Even the bread and special butter was so wonderful - we had an additional serving!
My group went on a Friday evening when live music was playing. The artist was a guitar and a fiddle. They were first class and played a variety of music we could sing along. The food was so fresh and cooked to perfection. Buba the owner made us feel like a part of the family. Towards the end of our dining experience he sang with his great voice and invite the audience to participate. After 3 of the no holds rich drinks I went and played the piano and sang!!! We will be going back again. This is the place for the perfect date or to take the family out for great fellowship.
Dinner and Entertainment? Yes! Great place for date night and/or celebrations!
This was the first time I have been at Bashaw's and I was a bit disappointed. The French Onion soup was delicious and perhaps the highlight of the evening. I originally ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu but was told by our server, Thomas. it was not available. My second choice, the "hand-cut pork tenderloin was more of a cut of a pork steak.
Amazing place, great food, entertainment & staff.
Definitely a family owned vibe with staff directed by the owner/manager.
You can tell they all actually care about your experience.
