What Insiders Are Saying
For Italian in Los Angeles, it doesn't get any better than the Arts District's Bestia, This isn't dinner, it's an experience.
can’t go wrong with the lamb neck and the chicken liver pate but must say the raved about bone marrow was somewhat underwhelming
Awesome Food. Great service. Very busy. A bit loud inside.
Amazing from start to finish.. will be coming again!!!
Amazing food, fantastic service, as always! (Melanie was our server.)
Overpriced, food is good but not outstanding. The pizza is ok, but costs the price of a gourmet meal. Not many options of mains, their excuse is that they are a sharing plates restaurant type. Another issue is that although they do offer late dinner bookings (our was for 11:15PM), many options on their menu were already sold out, which is a bit disappointing.
We had a perfect experience. Great food, friendly, efficient, fast service. Excellent restaurant, highly recommended
We had a great time last Saturday! We made a reservation for my boyfriend’s birthday. The place was hopin, but when we sat down it didn’t seem too noisy to talk. The service was warm and so courteous. And the food!! Two words: LAMB NECK. Thank you for making a great night even better !
Always fantastic! Service is wonderful, and food is amazing.
it was Lit!!!
Food was tasteless, service was very good.
Very attentive service as soon as we stepped in the door, from the hostesses who helped us get our bar tab transferred, the bartender who came around the bar to take our order, to the 2 servers and one busboy who all have excellent recommendations and great positive energy.
We even were given an amazing taste of a beer pairing with our meal, on the house, without even asking!
Highly recommend the bone marrow, kale and sausage pizza, crab spaghetti, and the sorbet/merengue dessert.
Fabulous food, drinks and service. But the NOISE! We wouldn’t go again if we are with another couple.
Overall decent experience. They gave us a weird two person table near a door that didn’t feel like it should be an actual seating area since there was so much traffic next to us but oh well. The olives needed a small amount of bread and balsamic to enjoy the pool of olive oil in the plate, otherwise it was good. Salumi was very nice and dissolved in your mouth. The gem salad was a needed fresh flavor to cleanse the palate. The bone marrow was half a piece that gets mixed with sorghum I think. It was very heavy and needed something light to balance the flavor of the fat. The burrata pizze had a good wet tomato sauce which I love. Our favorite was the oxtail pasta which I wish was a larger portion because it was soo good. For desert we had the chocolate and quince dishes which were both great.
Only annoying part was when I noticed the “4% kitchen appreciation fee” that is added to the bill which can be removed if asked. You only see it on your last desert menu and it really feels underhanded to throw something like that in there. I’m all for supporting the staff with decent wages and it shouldn’t be hard to do that with the prices they charge, so I feel like it gets ridiculous when we start to normalize these types of “fees”. Just pay your staff a good wage and don’t throw it on the customer.
we love ori and Genevieve and they can do no wrong ❤️
First time dining and definitely not my last. All staff members were kind and attentive. Food was amazing and delicious. Thank you, Bestia!
By far the best food in Los Angeles!!
We waited 25 minutes for a reservation we had made six weeks prior. Only after 20 minutes did anyone apologize for the wait, and that was after we told someone how long we'd been waiting. The host acted like we were inconveniencing her the couple of times we checked in to see if our table for 2 was ready. The sommelier said they would do something to compensate us for the long wait, and they did nothing. Disappointing. Food was fantastic though.
The bone marrow makes me want to cry and laugh and die and live.
The restaurant is very energetic... in a good way.
I would likely recommend for friends gathering to social after work.
Small plates - rather pricey depending on what you order.
Definitely a place to meet up and grab a quick small app and drink.
Well, it is such a well known restaurant that I was eager to go and check and taste. I booked a month before and went with my sister. My overall rating given to Bestia is 3 star, which means good. So, here is why: the ambience overall with the level of noise and very uncomfortable chairs was bearable. The food portions are completely European, I mean very small. So if you expect to see American dining portions and you are very hungry then forget about getting one dish. At least 2/3 you need to order. The price at first side seems not expensive at all, but because of the portions you have to order more and at the end, you end up paying much more then you expected to pay. The flavors and taste of dish itself was fine: It is obvious that the owners and the chef stresses on the flavors and richness of taste of each dish. The presentation of dish was also remarkable. / Have you watched the series Chef's table on Netflix? you would feel many similarities/. I had a lamb neck, sis got pasta and we had an antipasti of chicken gizzards which tasted like pork, but it was still good. The lemonades were fine: I got the one with ginger which was much better than the lemon one.
So, for one time visit, just to see what the whole fess is about it is worth to go. But if you really looking for a good pleasant full dining experience, then the Bestia is not the place for sure.
The service was ok too. The waitress was very polite, fun, cheerful girls, we liked her. But I had hold back with the hostess: I always wonder why in the restaurants people are being set in the worst spots available. You always have to claim to get the better table. Same happened here.
Anyways, for one time visit I definitely recommend Bestia, but make sure to go there half full :)))
Got us in even though we were late for our reservation. Wonderful food, non-pretentious staff and a great space!
Very happy with our first visit to Bestia. Bone marrow was out of this world, beef tartare also amazing.
Wonderful food but more vegetarian options would be appreciated. Spectacular desserts.
We waited almost an hour for our reservation with no sincere apology from the restaurant except a feeble "we've been busy" excuse. It's not the first time we've had this experience at Bestia and for a 5-year old restaurant totally inexcusable.
The food was OK, but certainly not the standard it's been in the past. Pizza was soggy and oversauced. Pasta portions were tiny and at $23-27 should be substantial. Lamb neck was oversalted and too dry to eat. Salads were bland. Overall, not worth the high price tag and there are much better places in the area.
The atmosphere continues to be fun and lively but right now that's all that seems to be driving the place. I hope that this will change as we liked Bestia on every past visit.
One of my favorite restaurants in all of Los Angeles! I had to book my reservation 60 days in advance in order to lock in a good time for my birthday dinner! Service is excellent... the hostess, the bartenders and servers were all very attentive and nice.
The food was excellent! Four of us ordered the Lobster Crostino, the Fuyu Persimmon & Cucumber, the Chicken Gizzards, the Roasted Bone Marrow, the Cavatelli alla Norcina, the Rib Eye, the Spaghetti Rustichella, the Frozen Torte, the Coffee & Donuts, and a Blood Orange Sorbet dessert that I forgot the name of...
Everything was delicious. My favorite dishes were the Cavatelli alla Norcina and the Roasted Bone Marrow.... honorable mention goes to the Rib Eye, it was pricey but perfectly seasoned and cooked.
It was a cold evening and we were seated on the outside patio, but they had heat lamps and those plastic shades to block the wind so we didn’t notice the cold weather at all.
All in all, it was an excellent dining experience!
Chef's table = amazing. A little loud and a little warm, but being able to watch the organized chaos was an experience.
Been here a few times and it’s consistently superb. The food and service are top notch. For a restaurant with this type of vibe and hype, they never rest on their laurels. From the hostess to the server to the bus staff, everyone was great to deal with. Bestia should be a model for how great restaurants stay relevant. Great job everyone !
Bestia is right up there with absolutely any restaurant !
5 Star Food & Service, impressive & on point at every turn !
Incredible original tastes in all their dishes !
Great food in an intereting space. The seating is a little odd in certain places. We were seated in an outside area which was protected from the cold by a heavy plastic wall. The problem was there was a window next to us and not 2 inches away-on the other side of the glass was another couple. Those tables should not be adjacent. Also, and this is a problem throughout LA--the music is so loud that everyone has to shout so the noise level is very high. Additionally, the music appeared to be some droning techno-loop and not pleasing music. Get better music, turn down the volume and let people talk. The staff and the food are both excellent.
had a 9:15 reservation, but didn’t get seated until 9:35. Then we sat there waiting for a waiter to take our order, by 10pm, we still hadn’t been able to put in an order, so we left because we needed to eat
Honestly, anything you order will most likely be spectacular. Not one dish was lacking and filled with so many amazing flavours.
High quality food and innovative recipes- we really enjoyed the lobster crostini and the spicy mussels/clams as starters. For mains, we had pork ragu and amatricciana pasta. We sat on the kitchen counter (we really enjoyed seeing how cooks were putting effort into every dish!). I think we were really lucky because we just booked our two spots two days before going. Would definitely come back!
Food was good but not superb like I have experienced in restaurants with similar reputations. Not worth the month wait to get in. I think the restuarant is pretty over hyped. Might have enjoyed it more had I not been expecting so much. Overall though it is good food and the waiters were really lovely.
Not good all!!
Mood, food, service, table, chair, noise, smell
I will don’t go never again
Great dining experience. Food delicious, service was attentive and ambiance was great.
Bestia never disappoints! I love the service from the valet service to the hostesses, to the bartenders to the busboys, to the waiters to the cooks and chef!!! Great energy and flow at this restaurant!
Hard to get reservations and definitely overpriced, but we like to come here once in a while because their flavors are good and the service is excellent. Our favorite is the bone marrow. Beware if you order steak. They tell you they'll only make it medium rare and it always ends up being raw, not medium rare. For dessert, the chocolate tart is excellent, but I wish they would bring back the peanut butter bar they used to have. Overall, good food and worth visiting once in a while.
