Great experience food was tasty and a good portion. The ambiance was very nice as well.
Food was way too salty for the table as a whole. There was a bar/cocktail menu but the bartender said no when we asked. Then it appeared later.
Came recommended for date night and did not disappoint. Romantic atmosphere, attentive service. The wine flight was a good value.
Tried for dinner during center city restaurant week with my daughter. Food was great, server (Max) was fantastic. Wanted to bring home dinner for my wife who was working-couldn’t use the restaurant week menu, but food was fantastic. We will come back again definitely.
Went here for Philadelphia restaurant week — my girl friend and I were treated to world class cuisine and superb service. I will be making my way back here very soon!
We came for restaurant week and this was our first time here. The place is absolutely adorable and romantic. Service from Jess was great, food was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We will def be back and would recommend to anyone.
Although the restaurant seemed to be having a bit of a delay with reservations, the food and ambience more than made up for it. The lobster ravioli, gnocchi, and filet mignon were incredible. The exposed brick and dimly lit downstairs of the restaurant are reminiscent of restaurants found in Italy. Highly recommend.
Had dinner on Saturday night and it did not disappoint! Our waiter Paul was awesome and his suggestions were perfect. I had the bone-in veal chop special and it was amazing. My wife had the spaghetti with lamb-ragu sauce and it was equally delicious. Table made caesar salad was fantastic as was the grilled octopus.
Everyone here goes out of their way to ensure you are enjoying your meal. The owner is on site and actively engaged with the customers making sure everyone is happy.
We also loved the building. A really beautiful historic old rowhome with stacked stone and brick walls. We will definitely be back sooner rather than later!
6th time being there, always amazing, always good food and great great service! Thank you so much again
The food was bland. The drinks were great though!
Lovely ambience and really amazing food. Service was very good too. We will all go back and would definitely recommend it.
Very nice place to dine. Service was great and the decor was even better.
Our waitress Vienna was awesome, service oriented, accommodating, friendly and compassionate. She made our experience a great one.
One of the most romantic restaurants we have been to.
Our waitress was exceptional
The food is absolutely divine!
not impressed. I was really looking forward to this based on the reviews and when we first walked in it seemed very promising--first I absolutely loved the atmosphere and the acoustics are great because there is no echo at all. Menu seemed great. Simple Italian which we like. Waiter friendly, etc--all the underpinnings to the beginning of a good meal. First course was the caesar salad for 2, prepared table side. First sign of a problem: The guy who "created" our salad--I swear to god was nearly far asleep and couldn't have appeared less enthusiastic as he called out the rote ingredients and poured them in. When called upon for further conversation, he was not impolite and even bordered on friendly, but I would not say he loved his job or even liked it. The first sign to me---always--that a restaurant is less than rewarded-by it's management--having worked in restaurants for years (which, yes I know everyone says--insert eyeroll)
Second sign: the salad itself was completely dry despite good ingredients. When I asked the our waiter if they might spare a little more (although authentically prepared fresh in front of you, it would not be out of the realm of possiblity to store a small amount of extra in the back created at the beginning of the shift--for just this purpose--rather than have the servers have to fetch it now--and you would not sacrifice authenticity.
Our meals arrive with a flourish and appeared delicious on the surface. My boyfriend had the lamb shank (average, though the sauce was near perfect, the shank itself could have been nicely seared on the outside, even if slow braised for 5 hours. It did come off the bone easily, but was much more sinewy than most lamb shanks. My Lobster ravioli, was good, yet unremarkable for the pricepoint.
Overall, server seemed eager for us to be gone.
I thought about it later and could not call it "bad" --but it had the overall feel of a "fascimile" of a good meal, and the service was less than stellar.
We celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary. The table was set up beautifully with rose petals scattered on the table. Our server, Elaina, was excellent. She "staged" the table for photos, took nice pics for us and was attentive when necessary but not overbearing. The food was absolutely amazing. I had the lobster ravioli and my husband had the hangar steak special. This was our second visit and we will definitely be back!
Booked a reservation last minute and I do not regret it. Paul did an amazing job taking care of us along with making sure that we were incredibly happy. The ambience was so incredible that the entire night was perfect. I'll definitely be going back soon
Great choice with an amazing cesar salad made tableside... and since we had last been there, the menu has gotten more interestin with a range of new apps and some incredible homemade pastas
WOW. We are new to Philly and wanted to dine somewhere nearby . We walked into this incredibly warm, cozy, Barcelona-like environment and were immediately welcomed by Sicely, the adorable hostess. She was gracious and showed us to the magnificent bar and Frank, the terrific bartender ( who made a mean dirty martini) . Anthony , the GM welcomed us as if we were beloved family asking exactly what type and food preparation we prefer. He escorted us down the steps to a perfectly well lighted cozy table where Jessica our waitress was equally attentive. Where did all these wonderful people come from?? They are ALL at Bistro Romano! Then the generous , colorful, perfectly seasoned and prepared dishes started being served and each to A+++ perfection!!! This chef knows how to meld texture, tart, natural sweet ( no sugar), and savory to absolutely perfection. Can’t wait to go back!!! I am extremely discriminating as to what I can eat and you’d never know it by how accommodating the chef was.
Rosie is the banquet Mgr and knowing her she’s equally as great at her job as the rest of the crew.
Whoever the owner is must be a great guy to employ so many first class professionals .
Awesome! I will recommend and go back again if I have a chance.
amazing! Perfect romantic dining experience. Went for NYE, could not have been more impressed! Take your date here!!!
We always have a great meal each time we have dined there. Whether it is a special occasion or just to go out to have a nice meal. The wait service is nice and always make you feel special, and treat all customers very well. The hostess, always greets you with a smile and shows appreciation for your dining there.
This was our 4th. New Years Eve dinner celebration with Bistro. The food ALWAYS A WINNER !!!!!
My favorite restaurant in Philly, and has been for over 10 years. We no longer live in the Philly/ NJ area, but we make it a point to come back to have dinner here at least once a year.
The food was terrific--the risotto was as good as any we have had in Venice; the waitress was exceptionally wonderful; and the staff knew it was our 50th anniversary and treated us well, with complementary champagne. All together an enjoyable meal for my wife and me!
These guys are amazing. Great food. Staff are amazing!!!!!!!!
We can’t say enough positive things about Bistro Romano. It was our top pick for our anniversary dinner, and they made sure to create a special set up for us on the lower level. Along with that gesture, our server was attentive and the food was out of this world (If anyone is wondering, the cesar salad lives up to the hype!). Thanks again for a great night!
Our meal and experience was amazing! The night started with rose petals and special plates for our anniversary. It continued with above and beyond service from our waitress Elena! The food was delicious and everyone was wonderful!!! Would definitely recommend Bistro Romano to anyone!
Overall, disappointing. We went on a busy weekend night, booking well in advance. We were stuck at a table at the bottom of the stairs, in a place where they had no right to have a table (the place was full, no chance to relocate). It was at a narrow, busy intersection, and of course as the waiter was telling us the specials a busboy trying to squeeze by dropped a wine goblet—shards everywhere, with the waiter taking most of the incoming. The waiter told us the restaurant wanted to “make it up to us” with a free glass of limoncello, which it seemed almost every table was getting anyway.
The food was a disappointment...the off the menu fish special was comically overpriced at $38 for 5 mussels, half dozen over cooked, small shrimp, a handful of scungilli rings and a hunk of mystery fish, all floating in nondescript red sauce. The chef went overboard with the rosemary on the saltimbocca, pushing the edge of inedible. The hazelnut semifreddo, however, was outstanding.
To top it off, the coat check girl, returning from the back with our coats in a wad, tossed them to me, no attempt to help unravel the clump.
A night not to remember.
Amazing food. Amazing service. Every time i go there I’m impressed.
Great but not fabulous.
Absolutely amazing service and delicious food. Would highly recommend
Elena was our server and she was perfect. Classy, great personality, excellent recommendations. The food was fantastic. For starters we had calamari and the short rib croquettes, and the taste was exceptional. For mains We had the lobster ravioli and the veal saltimbocca and both were just so fresh and delicious, perfect flavor pairings. Great wine. Beautiful deserts. 100% great experience. We will definitely be returning regularly for the beautiful atmosphere and delicious food and asking for the same server.
Fabulous, thoughtful service and the Seven Fishes Feast on Christmas Eve was delicious, all well proportioned plates, just enough of everything. The chef did a wonderful job.
Excellent service and delicious food. We had the seven fish Christmas Eve special and enjoyed it.
Everything was perfect, every course delicious. It was the best meal of seven fishes I've had, EVER.
Went for first time a few days before Christmas. Restaurant was very festive and cozy with a pianist playing Christmas songs. Good drinks, good food. Wish prices allowed for tasting more items but the dishes are a bit expensive which limits you from trying more!
The food was excellent, but the service and experience really ruined it for me. I made a reservation well in advance- advising it was a 30th birthday celebration in my reservation requests.
We were placed a table almost in the kitchen and were subject to staff shouting “corner!” every five minutes. Had to be the worst table in a large restaurant. Not off to a great start for what I wanted to be a nice evening.
Our waiter was fine, though overwhelmed. After taking our drinks a NEW waiter came over to say he would be taking care of us, though had no idea what we ordered or how far along in the meal we were. After waiting another 15 minutes, our original waiter brought our drinks and served the rest of the meal without explanation.
Half an hour into our meal, the hostess came over to ask what the name of our reservation. I got an OpenTable email stating I had never been seated and missed my reservation.
Lots of interruptions, poor service, lack of attention to detail when they knew ahead of time it was a special occasion.
Food is fantastic, but would hesitate to go back because of the service.
Elana was exceptional. All of the staff were excellent and made you feel welcome.
Overall a very good experience.
