Bread & Tulips
BREAD & TULIPS (Pane & Tulipani) is a cozy neighborhood spot serving rustic Italian cooking in a casual setting. The menu is inspired by the regional diversity of Italy and features handmade pastas and pizzas in addition to traditional antipasti, crostini etc. All outdoor seating is on our sidewalk café and terrace along Park Avenue.
The warmly-lit, spacious dining room is informal and comfortable; a simple tulip adorns each table. Indoor tables are listed as "standard" on OpenTable.
We look forward to welcoming you!

We shared salad, pizza, and pasta. All were very good.
Luis, our server was amazing! As was the whole staff! They were attentive and friendly without being overbearing. We will certainly be back. All the food was perfectly cooked and the drinks were well made. Perfect ambiance for a get together or business meeting.
Amazing food and service
My family enjoyed our dining experience here as we celebrated my mother’s birthday. It was nice to be able to get out and enjoy a nice meal during this pandemic and not have to worry about cleanliness. Our waiter Jonathan was amazing and ensured that my mother enjoyed her birthday. He made us laugh with his jokes and saw to it that everything came out to our liking. Definitely a great experience.
My granddaughter and I celebrated our mutual birthdays at Bread & Tulips. I have been here several times, but it was the first time for my granddaughter. She loved it! We shared a meatball appetizer and then shared a pizza marguerita and cassrecce bolognese. The food was delicious and the service excellent. Each of our desserts was served with a lit candle. It was a great experience. Thank you
Surprisingly good, but we ate outside and it was getting pretty chilly. Pasta was great.
Thanks
the menu was very limited, but the food was pretty good
Both indoor and outdoor dining was available, we ate indoors. Everything needed to maintain a sanitary environment was consistently done. The food was fantastic, every dish. Service was excellent, very attentive but not intrusive. We will return again and again.
amazing gluten free pasta, beautiful outdoor set up that is COVID friendly!
Well done. outside seating no bad, service good noise high but this is outdoors on a busy street. Better than expected.
Bread and Tulips is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC and they have done such a phenomenal job managing during the COVID crisis. Everyone is friendly while keeping a safe distance, the food is still delicious and the outdoor atmosphere is charming. A wonderful place to dine with friends, family or even solo! 10/10 recommend!
The staff at Bread & Tulips was welcoming and hospitable with their service. They were very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, as well. We are looking forward to visiting again!
Great dining spot, even with covid restrictions and outdoor dining! Food was awesome too!
I always have an extraordinary experience here. The quality of the food and wine has not once wavered, and the service is always warm and helpful. I especially appreciate their use of locally sourced produce and clean meat, seafood, and poultry.
I've recommended Bread and Tulips to friends and colleagues for everything from anniversary dinners and first dates to cocktail parties and fundraisers.
Was very nice. They need more personel , the staff was super busy trying to help everyone.
Great food and service, you can't go wrong here. We dined outdoors and the space was very pleasant with safe social distancing.
This was an average restaurant with average food and service. Given the number of options in NY, I wouldn't go back.
Went here with family for dinner. We received very friendly and clean service. Hand sanitizer bottles on each table, wait staff all wearing masks and gloves. Tables were spaced out, plus high enough walls between table and Park Ave to feel like we had privacy. Quiet and peaceful setting. We were happy with all of our meals - recommend the grilled octopus, burrata, pappardelle, chicken parm. We enjoyed it!
During this COVID pandemic, it was good to see that a bottle of hand sanitizer was immediately brought to our table for use throughout the night. Unfortunately, every time our server spoke to us, he lowered his mask or pulled it away from his face even though I kept asking him to cover his nose and mouth completely. He would for a split second and then move it away again. I places my face mask back on while he spoke to us to better protect myself. Also, for some reason when he took our drink orders, he only took my dinner order and not the other person’s order. I only realized this when my entree was served to me and our shared appetizer which my friend was ordering never came. The appetizer was then ordered and he never took my friend’s entree order! They brought me bread for my entree which had a metal cover over it while waiting for our appetizer and then my friend’s entree. I feel it should have been taken back and kept warm and served at the same time as the person sitting with me. Our delicious Burrata & Heirloom Tomato appetizer was served without plates. We did not have bread plates either. There was no oil or butter served with the bread. I had to awkwardly reach over my covered entree and eat over the entree cover and lap. We had to call over the waiter again to ask to order my friend’s entree. By the time it arrived, my Pappardelle entree (spiced, braised leg of lamb, tomato, parmigiano) was cold and sticking together but was still very good tasty, at least. The wine glass pours were much better than the rest of the service. I imaging this cannot be the standard or service there and would be willing to try it again before writing the place off because the food was very good.
Given the circumstances -- well done! Appreciated the bottle of sanitizer at the table.
We decided to have our farewell dinner for one of our colleagues because we knew Bread & Tulips would not disappoint. Food is always delicious. Handmade pastas and thin crust pizzas, vegetable sides fresh and nicely seasoned. Good wines. Lovely, warm and rustic decor. Small attentive bar & lounge area. Understated, relaxed. A hidden gem.
Choose this restaurant for a book group get together. Food was great and it was quiet enough to carry on a nice conversation. Servers were attentive but never interrupted conversation. Several of us put Bread & Tulips on the list of must come back restaurants.
Amazing scallops and excellent service!
Had great time and great food. Liked the ambiance, good place to hang out. Nice that they have happy hour as well.
We would go back here again!
Went for restaurant week 2020. Wine list was great. The bread and olive oil starter was delicious. Appetizers (meatballs, crab cakes) were amazing as was tiramisu for dessert. Entrees were a little underwhelming. My husbands duck was well done and my pasta was mediocre. I would return to try pizza and more appetizers.
Was excited to try and exceeded expectations. Only thing I didn’t like was the waitress being kinda pushy about getting the meals out quick and having us finish. There weren’t many people their so it was unnecessary.
Dined here for restaurant week 2020. The appetizers were delicious, and steak was good. Tiramisu dessert was still partially frozen, unfortunately, but bartender was super nice and made great dark and stormy drinks.
We were so happy that our second trip,to this restaurant didn’t disappoint! We’ve been lucky to go when it wasn’t busy and we could enjoy the beautiful atmosphere, fine service, and excellent food.
The food was so good! We got the octopus, squid ink pasta, and truffle pizza. All delicious!
My wife and I made same day reservations for dinner on a busy Saturday with no problems. Service, food and ambience were excellent. Lamb Papardelle fresh pasta was spot on. Recommend to families of no more than 5 or for romantic dinner.
Great food and wonderful service.
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly by very nice waitress. We sat at the bar then decided to sit at table. Ordered a bottle of wine and our waitress again was friendly and accommodating. Three of us were there for lunch. I ordered the grilled octopus with gigante and fava beans. THE best octopus I’ve had in the city. Very generous portion. My sister just ordered a bowl of spinach and mushroom soup. It was a huge portion and so delicious especially on a cold day. Seemed like there were tiny matzoh bowls also in there. Our mom had a generous portion of grilled chicken which in other places can just be plain boring. This was also a generous portion and beautifully arranged. Also contained roasted tomatoes. Not to be missed was the house bread served with superb and fruity olive oil along with sea salt. All around terrific experience. We truly felt taken care of. Will definitely return.
Wonderful italian food and service. We had a large party and they managed us well.
food spectacular! service extraordinary!
Bread & Tulips is a wonderful place to have a perfect dinner out.
The rigatoni al funghi was a big hit and absolutely delicious!
Always delicious! And very cozy!
We had a party of 12 and everyone was happy with the food. Service was a little spotty. Everyone was very nice
The venue is perfect for a date night. It wasn't busy when we arrived and the service was quick and attentive. Food was outstanding, so delicious. Can't wait to go back!
Was pleasantly surprised by this place. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable and the space was lovely. It was lively, but not at all prohibitive to intimate conversation. Our server was Sarolta and she was fabulous: non intrusive, but attentive when we needed her. She also noticed that we devoured the bread like heathens (it was so good) so came out with extra warm bread for us even though our meal was finished. And yes, we devoured it like heathens once again.
