The chefs’ clean and contemporary cooking style is matched by the restaurant’s sleek aesthetic, set with industrial-era accents and design elements, and earthy color tones. The kitchen view and 8-seat chef’s counter are open, which create a level of transparency and shared experience with guests. The chefs are excited not only to cook for their guests, but to also step into the dining room to meet and serve them. Many personal touches, including art installations and ceramic servingware made by friends and wooden tables made by the chefs are also incorporated throughout.
Food and service were excellent. Highly recommend.
Cadence truly deserves all their recent accolades. Everything was outstanding! Stand outs included the veal tartare and octopus. Each dish we tried was unique and packed with flavor. The presentation was just beautiful. Our server was excellent! Highly recommend and I will be back!
Wouldn’t recommend for the price. Food very good but not for the price.
Really enjoyed it but a little over rated given all the national acclaim!
The only thing that outshines the food at Cadence is the service. We ended up having to wait a little bit for our table to open up and the Staff there could not have been more accommodating.
Absolutely unreal. Must eat here.
If you love food, and want an incredible restaurant experience, then Cadence is for YOU!!!! The food is just outstanding and the service is as well! Be sure to bring your best wines to accompany your fabulous meal! One of the best restaurants I've experienced....Food and Wine is on point with naming this the best restaurant in the country.
The overall ambiance was great and we sat right down at our scheduled reservation time. We were really looking forward to trying the food. Our server gave us menu updates and answered questions... we all decided on the tasting menu. Three of us had the hiramasa first course and one the beets. Everyone enjoyed those dishes. The second course, we had two cauliflowers, one carrot dumpling and one octopus. The octopus and dumplings were delicious and the cauliflower was very nice. For the mains, we tried the meat and the duck. Both we very good - nothing outrageous - but well prepared, nice portions and flavorful. The confit of the duck was much better than the preparation of the breast, which was a bit on the over-chewy side, even for duck. But the dessert course was a total flop. It was almost as if they don't care about making dinner a home run. The chocolate semifreddo was a small ball of not-so-great chocolate ice cream; after the creativity of the dinner, this was a confusing dessert. My husband tried the corn pudding. Visually, it was extremely unappealing, but taste would have negated the initial look. Unfortunately, it was really awful - and he is not a picky eater and generally up for anything. Such an odd and disappointing dessert was a strange end to a nice meal. Overall, it was a tasty dinner, but not someplace I would rush to return.
A really special place with inventive, unique American cuisine, a chill vibe and outstanding, friendly service. Just go.
Very enjoyable meal and loved the vibe! We will be back soon,
I don’t want to exaggerate, but this might have been the best meal I’ve ever had. Every bite was like a party in my mouth!
As a party of 4, none of us had anything that wowed us. The service was quite poor, waiting 15 minutes to for the waitress to return for our order. Food came out quickly. I am normally full very, very quickly, but I was easily able to get through dessert because the portions were so tiny. We ordered the tasting menu. Crudo was tasty as were the beets, pork was soaked in vinegar, beef bavette was just ok, chocolate semifrido had far too much salt and was literally a tablespoon sized serving. Very disappointed, won't be back and I don't recommend going.
Incredible flavors lots of veggies offerings great protein and varied preparations. No leftovers but very satisfied and not stuffed. I have a hearty appetite too
Extraordinary meal - worth the accolades. Service was terrific, the kitchen did magic with vegetables, all in all, great meal.
This was reported as the best BYOB in the country. We enjoyed it, but not exceptional just really good. I think we simply suffered from high expectations. I would definitely recommend it, but we live in South Jersey which has tons of BYOB‘s and I’m not sure we will return.
The choices were excellent. Loved the duck! It was fun to sit at the counter and watch the assembling of the dishes.
Outstanding ! Food was excellent and well deserving of the top rating in F&W ! Great to see a restaurant in this part of the city
Wow! What a pleasant staff and the food, suffice it to say, it some of the best ! Repeat customers in the making!
An amazing meal. The service was great and the food was spectacular. The flavor pairings were above par and the plating was elegant. Thanks for one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time
Disappointing. After F&W rated it #1 best new restaurant, I had high expectations. I was quite disappointed. The Ribeye steak for 2 was tough and chewy. The pork belly was a big hunk of fat with NO meat at all. Nothing was worthy of recognition by Food & Wine. 4 of us ordered 6 different dishes and shared Every dish was either just eh or poor. The only dish we enjoyed was the Hiramasa Crudo. I am sorry for such a bad review but someone got something very wrong.
Great value, BYOB, and service. Food was outstanding in quality, diversity in tastes and choices. Had i lived in Philly it would be my go to place. They were kind enough to allow us an earlier seating than originally booked. between value price and diversity in food choices it can't be beat.
Dishes served were a work of art. Every bite was delicious.
Really enjoyed eating at Cadence; main entree choices are rather limited but it is a very small restaurant. All of my courses seemed like they were made to order which is not always the case when you do a tasting/chef menu.
Loved our meal at Cadence. Service and pacing was fantastic, at no point did we feel rushed. Food was excellent. Bit pricey but overall it was a great experience.
The quality of food was fantastic, seasonal delights! The service was phenomenal. I would recommend making a reservation over walking in.
One of our top five meals ever! Don't hesitate on the tasting menu, just get it, trust me you won't regret it.
Tasting menu was excellent!! Great build up to the entree and even better dessert!!
Expectations were high after the food and wine award. And it was beyond expectations.
From start to finish we loved our experience. Our server was top notch and engaged in conversation about the restaurant and their recent accolades. Definitely came with a price tag but we were celebrating and the food was well worth the cost. The duck was maybe the best I’ve ever had... the quail-stuffed with foie gras was innovative and literally melted in my mouth. And don’t even get me started on that bone-in ribeye.... leftovers became steak and eggs and no flavor was lost the second time around! We will be back!
What can I say. It was very average. Small portions, big price tags, and even bigger ego. I had to make the reservation weeks in advance for counter sweating. Which I assumed would be overlooking the kitchen scene but which was actually right in front of the waitstaff area so someone was standing in front of us entering orders and filling water the whole time. Weird. I had to leave my credit card number to hold the reservation but it left a bad taste in my mouth, as did the steelhead crudo. Yuck is all I can say about that one. They hadn’t removed the brown under layer of the fish which is incredibly “fishy”. The other food was good enough, but nothing to rave about. We won’t make it back. There are so many better restaurants in Philly.
Excellent service & food quality. Very unique delicious offerings despite the limited menu. A choice for every taste.
Each dish was beautiful, and full of flavor. Bison tartare, octopus, porchetta, rice pudding. One of my top ten meals of all time. Great care and service.
Cadence is a marvelous restaurant. Inventive delicious food and byob!! It’s a favorite!!
This was an "ok" experience but we were disappointed on many levels. We did the 4 course set menu, with mixed reactions--enjoyable, but nothing we would urge people to rush out and try. The restaurant itself is relatively small, but comfortable. Ambiance was casual and comfortable and thankfully NOT loud. We got a small table for 2 along the wall and immediately found ourselves rained on from an overhead air duct that was dripping. We made light of it and they kept coming with a towel on a long stick to wipe the duct but we finally asked for a new table. It seemed better but soon we started getting dripped on again. The waiter was attentive and apologetic and we joked with him about the situation early on but eventually it was just annoying. Appetizers: Hamachi was good but the sauce and thin sliced radishes didn’t liven it up as much as it should; the beet appetizer, was pretty good. The second course put us off. I had foie gras stuffed quail, it seemed to have been poached, was all white and I could only distinguish the foie gras from the meat by the texture. It was as bland as it looked, designed to draw its flavor from the moist malted grains bed and seasonings it lay on, but nothing popped. I so wanted to enjoy this dish and it disappointed. The herb dumplings were delicate with nice texture, designed to absorb the “spring things” and mustard butter and was so lightly swirled that you could not taste the mustard. It was “ok”- nice but not great. The main course was the best—oddly the potatoes and asparagus raclette were superior to the “bavette”--slices of flank steak. Again, it wasn’t bad, it was “ok-good.” The “semifreddo” was a tiny scoop of chocolate ice cream with what unintentionally appeared to be crushed Oreo’s around it, good but disappointing at the same time. The rhubarb shaved ice with berries was a nice change from the usual. This is a relatively fine establishment but no way in the world should it be “best new restaurant in America.”
The food here is really amazing! Our server was great explaining everything and super friendly.
My 3rd visit for dinner and I was not disappointed. I love that the menu changes so always something new to try. My group of 3 ordered 5-6 plates for sharing. The flavors and presentation of each were exquisite. Our server,Nick, was super knowledgeable and professional. Not a surprise that this restaurant was just awarded Best new restaurant in the country by Food and Wine.
The food was amazing! We ordered the tasting menu and every single item was delicious. We’re already planning our next date there so we can try more of the menu! The service was outstanding as well!
This place 100% lives up to the hype. My boyfriend and I went on a Saturday night at around 8 pm. We decided to go for the four course meal as it seemed to be the most value for your money. Every single dish we had was absolutely outstanding. Some of the highlights were the octopus, the smoked shrimp (!!!!!!!), herb dumplings, the roasted maitake, the pork, and the rice pudding. So basically everything. It’s relatively small so it wasn’t very loud, but it does not feel overly crowded or cramped. The service was incredible as the server was very attentive and kept refilling our water and wine glasses as soon as they were empty. Overall, we were extremely satisfied with our dining experience and would recommend everyone we know to try this place. I will definitely be back soon.
The best dinner in Philly! Fresh ingredients and creative preparation!
