    We came for afternoon tea yesterday and the food was delicious. The sandwiches were really fresh, there was a large selection of cakes and scones and unlimited tea and coffee was included so it was good value for money. We couldn't eat everything and brought lots of cakes home. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed and that we were enjoying our experience. We look forward to coming back and highly recommend.

    Lovely food but no one in so extremely quiet hence no atmosphere. Felt rushed, being told kitchen closed at 8.45 so can you order deserts now. Not sure if to go back

    Enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea. Really great atmosphere and very friendly staff. Tea, Scones, Sandwiches and cakes were deliciously soft and fresh. Will be back again for lunch.

    Lovely restaurant, staff very friendly, service excellent. Lamb and salmon delicious, veg undercooked. Would rather have a few thick cut chips than a larger portion of tasteless fries.

    First visit here for several years. Only minor issue was the gin and lime cheese cake had not been defrosted fully, or had been kept too cold (if fresh)

    We booked in for afternoon tea for a birthday surprise. Wonderful selection of sandwiches with refills available if you wanted more. The cake selection was amazing and the scones were fresh. I wouldn't hesitate to book again as it was lovely. Great service with the perfect balance of being attentive but not intrusive. Highly recommended.

    The venue is beautiful, the service level is high. The portion sizes are very large and the tea and coffee was endless. The crackers were soft and the cheese scones were undercooked with not enough butter for both the crackers and the scones. The cakes were all delicious and the sausage rolls were warm and really nice.

    I had an adult afternoon tea which was amazing, the waitresses were very attentive bringing extra drinks if we needed them. The children's afternoon tea was a little adult for my children who are 7 and 5. Most of the desserts were dark chocolate and very bitter. My little boy ate only the sandwiches and marshmallows. My little girl ate my cake options and the strawberries. I brought the rest home that they didn't touch. They had yoghurt and this was sour. I would definitely book again but order from the lunch menu for my children. I really enjoyed my afternoon tea and the children had a lovely time. My little girl thinks the hotel is beautiful. Thank you

    Lovely Sunday roast. All homemade. We all had 3 courses (including a 3 year old) good value for money, really tasty, fantastic service too. I'll definitely return again.

    The decor was excellent and the waitress was very helpful friendly and dealt with our needs perfectly. There was more food than we expected and would appreciate smaller portions at reduced cost. We enjoyed the experience and will probably be returning in the future.

    This bar and restaurant never disappoints. Because of its unusual quirky decor it stands out as a special place to visit. Food and staff were great. We’ve had evening meals and afternoon tea’s here and would rate both. It’s a lovely place to get dressed up as these days people tend to be a bit more relaxed in their attire but the Earl allows you to enjoy being dressed up. Even the staff wear formal uniforms. Lovely dining experience and would highly recommend it.

    The only reason i marked down is we were informed on arrival to keep our coats on as the venue was cold. This was the case as it never really warmed up so was a little uncomfortable. The food, service and restaurant were great but its hard to score higher when your sat cold and want to get out.

    Overall a very pleasant dinning experience with very little to pick faults with. Staff were very friendly and service was good. Nice ambiance and noise level was conductive to a pleasant atmosphere. I won't blame anyone for having a birthday party, it was lovely to see. The only time that the noise level rose above ambient, but why not eh. Well done to the staff for making a little girls day, whilst still ensuring the other diners needs were met. A Little Bit of a trek to the toilet from the far side of the restaurant but nothing that forward planning would not take care off. I must say the jokes in the xmas crackers were awful, as expected, but they did make it look a lot like Xmas at least. We would with certainty come back again to dine. Well done 👏 . A great experience thanks to you . Was really good to see a cheese board on the dessert menu, I really enjoyed it and even ate my fruit. Have a very merry Xmas. See you soon.

    The service was good the surroundings are beautiful but we have honestly had better food here before & was disappointed as we had friends with us from New Zealand & we hadhighly recommended it from our previous experiences. The pork was tough the pate starter was quite poor portion wise but the beef was good.

    It is usually a great place to eat, but a huge family had the centre table, and allowed 8 children to run around the place, and completely spoiled the evening. The family maybe regular guests, but the management should be aware of these issues being a bother to others, having dinner in the same room. R

    Such a lovely place for afternoon tea, service was impeccable and food to a high standard. The team were very attentive as the restaurant was empty and the price has increased too but a lovely couple of hours in a very lovely setting. Thank you.

    Sunday Lunch Excellent service in deco surroundings. Wide choice of drinks on offer . Good choice of starters , mains ( 1 vegetarian option) and dessert / cheese board . Served hot , tasted delicious and all came with Yorkshire pudding , roasties and mash . My only gripe would be the vegetables accompanying as choice was cauliflower, broccoli and carrots . I would have expected a wider choice but as said only a minor issue . Lots of desserts on offer as well as a cheese board if desired. I opted for lemon tart which was scrumptious. All in all great experience .

    My kids absolutely loved the robotic cat! They wanted to buy one! Hee Kids said their sandwiches at afternoon tea were ok as felt too much ‘breast’. They’d b happy wv ham sandwiches in fingers cos they’re lighter to eat. They d like 1 small sausage roll in theirs too! As for adults afternoon tea, scones were a bit dry and it’s b great if jam is homemade and warm scones Altho they are small which is perfect esp lots of nice puddings!! Always liked the atmosphere Thx u
