Café Chameleon

The food was great. Appetizers of Mussels and the Seared Tuna were both fantastic. We had the Scallops and the Loin of Beef dinners. The scallops were exceptional. I did not understand the Loin of Beef dinner and went back to the menu to confirm that it said short rib. The dinner came out with a portion of short rib cooked to perfection and a portion of steak/tenderloin? that was slightly tough(maybe in comparison to the short rib) and not at all what I expected. While this may have been intentional, I would order this meal over again and again only if they doubled the short rib and kept the steak.

Staff was super friendly, courteous and the meal was not rushed. Great find.

A true diamond in the rough!!! Menu reflects true farm to table. Very clean location. Decor is very pleasing. Fresh new drinks at the bar. Food and presentation - fantastic. Service - very attentive. Right on main st. They offer tastings. Look on website. Definitely coming back!!!!

From the start to finish it was professional and the food was fantastic. Our waiter who was behind the bar area and was sensational and couldn’t have been nicer and knew what he was doing. What a great experience

This Restaurant is a true Gem! This was our first time and believe me, you will not be disappointed if you go. Everything was done perfectly! Highly recommend and we will frequent this place from now on.

Hidden gem in Bloomingdale NJ! I had happened upon cafe chameleon by googling best restaurants in nj, and i was not disappointed. Food was incredible, staff was friendly and courteous, and the bill was shockingly cheap for what i got. I will definitely return and can recommend whole heartedly

i really cant say enough good things about my first experience here. restaurant was clean and quiet, providing a great ambiance for a date night. staff was attentive and friendly. i appreciated how our apps were spaced out from our meals, allowing us to enjoy everything and not feel rushed. everything tasted amazing, including the drinks! we cannot wait to go back!

Lovely place, attentive staff, wonderful food.

Great apps and entrees. 4 of us shared the fried chicken entree as an app in addition to cheese plate and pork belly. Delicious, but next time would double up on pork belly and skip the cheese. Tenderloin, duck breast, scallops and black cod special were all flavorful and yummy. Maybe because everything was so good that the desserts (we tried all 3) did not live up to rest of meal and thus 4+ rating instead of 5. Will definitely go back again.

Food was delicious! The crab cake appetizer is a must!! The burger & fried chicken...awesome! Will definitely go back.

Everything we have ordered has been to perfection. Interesting flavor combinations, fresh vibrant food. Their Bourbon Manhattan is smokey and delicious...the only thing we havent tried yet are the desserts...maybe we need to go just for the drinks and the desserts...hmmm it's a thought worth exploring!

Biggest problem of the night was narrowing down our choices! Really fun menu and we tried to order all of it.

Started with fantastic cocktails - aged behind their bar - and the standouts were the food gras, the pork belly, the duck, the gnocchi (which we fit in as a middle course!) and an aged ribeye cap special.

Can't wait to go again.

Are in the patio. Food was outstanding as always and the service friendly. The butternut squash soup, scallops, black bass and pork special we’re winners.

This was an amazing dining experience. My wife has had extensive international dining experiences, and she said the duck was the best she ever had. Everything is locally sourced or made in house (including the butter.) She also said it was the best meal she’s ever had in the states, and that includes many years in NYC, Boston, Miami and DC. The cab was delightful and the oak barreled old fashion was incredible. Great staff, great service and a pride in product that is rare.

Our 2nd time there. First was only days before the COVID shutdowns so we were excited to be able to dine in there again. The meal was outstanding, the service was fantastic. Enjoyed talking with the proprietors who made us feel very welcome! Thank you Trey and Al!

A hidden gem in Bloomingdale, all local food and prepared exquisitely!! Looking forward to returning agian!

I don’t usually write reviews but have to rave about Café Chameleon! Food was absolutely delicious and so fresh- vegetables locally grown, bread and butter homemade. Plus, the owner was very accommodating and nice- it was my birthday and he treated my friends and I to a glass of Prosecco to celebrate. Highly recommend Cafe Chameleon

Get the mussels and the scallops....wow!!!! Go for a foie gras burger.... omg you will be back for more. The food is great and the chef is a big cigar guy so bring him something good. 😎 Enjoy!!!

Perfect for celebrating Mom’s Birthday!

Appetizer we enjoyed mussels and home grown tomatoes with burata mozzarella. For dinner we enjoyed scallops and sirloin steak. Along with great summer cocktails made by Al. The dessert was great as well. Definitely a diamond in the rough were trained you will not be disappointed.

Another outstanding meal on the restaurant's cute patio. Had the Jersey tomato and burrata salald and the halibut with pickled ramps and my dining companion had the mussels and the burger. Nice friendly service and tasty drinks.

We just wish our server had his mask on his face and not under his chin....especially when he sneezed twice. Food is very good. But I will wait for COVID to be under wraps before we go back.

A friend and I went to Cafe Chameleon on a whim via Google. We were both pleasantly surprised. The food was awesome, our waiter was attentive, and the ambiance was nice. We both plan on returning!!! Awesome experience!

Dining at Cafe Chameleon never disappoints my husband and I. Appetizers and entrees are all excellent. Deserts too. Great specialty drinks. One of our favorite places to eat.

Unexpected strip-mall gem! Read about Cafe Chameleon in the paper several times and had to try it.

Located in an unpresuming strip mall, Cafe Chameleon is a surprisingly posh restaurant. With a focus on local, seasonal fare, the food does not disappoint. Everything we had was inventively crafted, well-seasoned, and cooked to perfection. Oh, and there's homemade bread (really, that's an impressive find.) Do NOT skip dessert. It was perfection. Wines by the glass are reasonably priced and generously poured.

Service was attentive and fast, and the decor was modern and comfortable. Will definitely return.
