Nice afternoon with dear friends.
The service was amazing, the severe we had went above and beyond to make us feel at home. We ordered some cocktails that we did not like and he changed them without no issues. The was good, we got some recommendations from the server. We spent a lovely afternoon. Would definitely go back.
Our fourth visit - delayed by a very long and tough year, but absolutely worth it, and great to be back! Des viandes et vins magnifique!
a neighborhood favorite, good food, friendly staff who recognise me -- a good experience.
Good chef this evening. The half baked organic chicken was cooked to perfection.
The aragula goat cheese salad was accompanied by a delicate vinagrette.
This French restaurant is located in a very nice area of Manhattan. This restaurant is one of the best in the city, with good food and good service. My friends were happy that I found this place, we were seated inside the bubble just outside the restaurant. The staffs are friendly, we have a wonderful time.
Cafe Du Soleil continues to be a wonderful neighborhood experience. The outdoor dining area is festive. The inside dining comfortable and well spaced. I have never been disappointed in the food. This will always be my go to when dining on the upper west side. Service is almost always professional, friendly, efficient. Yesterday felt as if the crew might have been short staffed. I have loved this place since if opened many years ago.
Overall food was good. Service was terrible, gave it two stars because the restaurant offered to remove our drinks as a result of the bad service. Waitstaff we’re great, kitchen kept forgetting order which caused us to wait an hour before getting our main course. Would give it one more try based on prior reviews but experience did not leave a good taste in our mouths (no pun intended).
We went on a Thursday evening for the $79 price fixed dinner for two... and were very disappointed. The escargot was just okay, the fried fish was interesting, the mussels were bland and the fettecini with mushrooms was dry. The dessert was great and the red wine was good, but even for the cheap price, it just wasn't a hit. I wonder if other things on the regular menu instead of price fixed menu might have been better, but the mussels are supposed to be one of their top hits. Additionally, service took FOREVER. Waiting 1.5 hours for our main course. The staff were really nice though, and the ambience was cute. Glad we at least tried it once.
Cafe Du Soleil is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always perfect and the staff is friendly and professional.
We were so disappointed with most everything; the waiter was indifferent and never checked back with us during the meal. Long wait for the main course to arrive after appetizer, soup and salads were all delivered at the same time. Then came the long wait for the very bland main courses of short ribs, steak au poivre had a sauce that didn’t resemble anything like au poivre and escargot was without any punch to them. The onion soup was watery and nothing like we had had in the past, pre-Covid. The escargot was without the flavor of the past visits to the cafe. The mushrooms were over-garliced. The desserts tasted very packaged and uninspiring to say the least. Not a good experience to a restaurant that was once one of our favorites.
Outstanding food and service. Love the ambience
Well done! We are very happy Cafe du Soleil is back and doing well- it's a fine restaurant.
We ate indoors since it was 90 degrees outside....however the french doors in front were wide open so we felt comfortable. Not enough waiters, and had to remind them to bring some additional napkins and a drink we ordered. Service was ok, not particularly warm.
Lovely sidewalk cafe a la Paris. Great breakfast spot.
enoiugh with the boom boom boom music coming out of the main restaurant... and the kitchen was a bit slow.... otherwise a lovely evening... loving the outdoor set up...
Cafe Du Soleil has excellent food and very friendly wait staff. We went for our anniversary and was able to get a cute bubble. The food was very good, even though they brought the wrong type of steak to my husband. The service was very slow though. After the waiter finally came, we received our champagne and then our salads quickly, but then waited more than 45 minutes for our main courses and then a bit for the waiter to bring a dessert and drink menu. I had noted it was our anniversary on the reservation, but we received no acknowledgement. I like the restaurant, typically, but this was not a banner evening for service.
The noise level was too loud and the music unpleasant. The last time I visited, the music was beautiful and peaceful. This time it was disco-like.
The service was very slow. There was a long wait between courses.
The waiter forgot one of the items I ordered, but he was very pleasant.
The bubbles are mostly gone, so the place doesn't look as special now.
The servings were huge-overwhelming. Personally, I would prefer smaller portions for less money. My steak was a bit tough.
Our waiter was excellent. The cocktails, spectacular. And the food delicious. Fairly extensive menu of traditional French food. We had a great time.
Cafe du Soleil has made a great adaptation to the pandemic, with a large outdoor dining area, partitions between tables under an open structure, and several plastic "dining pods." Service is great, and the neighborhood crowd makes it feel sociable and safe.
Good French food at reasonable prices
in a nice neighborhood restaurant filled with energy!
It was our anniversary. We got the thu special. My hubby loved his food. Mine was adequate. The wine delish. Noise level was too much. Sitting outside & facing McDonalds while eating French food was not the best ambience.
I really wanted to like this place, I'd seen it on many pictures and it looked so pretty. Pretty it is and with good atmosphere. The food however, leaves a lot to be desired. The dishes I ordered (moules frites, coq au vin and fish) were bland and came late. The service, while friendly, was very slow. It took the waiter 30 min to bring my check and when he did, he didn't actually bring it, he brought the dessert menu. very frustrating. It took 2 hours and a half to be able to eat and leave - too much. I will not be returning.
The food and service was amazing. The atmosphere was more boisterous than expected but still an excellent experience.
The service was lovely, the food outstanding and an overall good vibe place!
Excellent as always!
Food was rather bland, French dishes without panache!
Alos, loud music piped in...
We went for the Muscles and Wine special and were not disappointed. Food was delicious and service was good. We were also lucky that the weather was beautiful, because we sat outside.
Super accomodating to a group of five reuniting for the first time after quarantine. Attentive service despite the crowd. Food is good. Will be back!
The service is excellent and the wait are professional. The ambience is lovely. Nice place for a date. My husband and I go there often because of the service and ambience. The food is good too.
Excellent neighborhood spot for food and drink, exceptional happy hour specials
The bubble was clean and the service was very good. The food was tasty but not exceptional. I was expecting more given the great reviews.
I live In Chicago and was visiting family who live a block away from Cafe Du Soleil so it was an easy choice. Unfortunately I had a very unsatisfactory coq au vin. It was so very under seasoned and the edible chicken was far less than the accompanying bones. The service was hampered by the waiters needing to move diners off so they could turn tables. I understand that COVD has caused much if that but it did make for an eat-and-run feeling. I’m not eager to return.
One of my favorite neighborhood hangs, it never disappoints, especially for the atmosphere!
We ordered from a prix fixe menu at the beginning of the meal, it took over 2 hours to complete the 3 course meal with little to no interaction with staff in between courses. I don’t think our server spoke more than 5 words to us throughout the whole meal. On top of the terrible service members of the wait staff cat called our group on our way out of the restaurant while they were standing outside, doing nothing.
Soleil is the best
We made a reservation for Mother's Day, and ended up being a bit late because of traffic. The staff at Cafe Du Soleil was incredibly nice and accommodating, even encouraging us not to rush— even after closing time! The ambiance was perfect and the food and drinks were phenomenal. We will be back!!
Amazing spot that made for a wonderful Mother's Day dinner with kid!
