    It seems like it has potential but was pretty underwhelming. quiet and open brunch spot on a sunday though if you need a last minute place.

    Restaurant was not very busy. Our salad came out 15 minutes after our entrees. One of the entrees was cold so we asked to have it remade. They did, but it came 10 minutes after we finished our first entree. My date ordered a coffee and I ordered an after dinner drink. The coffee took 25 minutes and my drink never came. We never were approached by a manager. It was my first visit and probably my last. We were both very disappointed, especially in the service. I’m not a complainer. But I thought the management would want feedback so they can correct these issues.

    Service was okay. Ordered soup and it arrived with my entree. Server forgot to refill drink. There was 1 server for multiple tables. I had cassoulet and it was too salty for my taste.

    I had the grilled cauliflower was not impressed bland taste, would not try that again. Husband had the pork chop looked great and tasted good.

    We had St. Valentine reservations for a six course dinner with wine pairings included, so for the overall value (i.e., $70 per person) it was better than other restaurants in the area. However, upon arrival the hostess sat us at a table across from the cashier's register near the entrance and the flow of all guests; while apologizing for the location. My wife and I looked at each other because of the situation. I smiled and said "well it is what it is I guess", the hostess replied with "again I'm sorry but, this was the ONLY table set for us and other tables had a reservation. Keep in mind, we also had a reservation and she had crossed out my name from the list, thus we were not walk-ins. Luckily the waitress took it upon herself to tell us that she would look for another table. Shortly after someone from the kitchen (maybe the Chef), came to apologize about the issue and told us that we would be sitting at another table. Ten minutes after the hostess came back and asked us where we would like to be seated since we didn't like the other table. Moving forward we sat down in a both and our waitress was awesome. Overall, the restaurant was still empty by the time we left. The total of couples were about 6 and the hostess didn't sit anyone at the table across from the cashier's register. Every time the hostess told the couples where to sit, they would pick another and better table. Foodwise: The lamb was seasoned good, but the potatoes were not soft at all. The pasta with lobster was ok, but the lobster was dry. Finally, we paid and added a 20% gratuity because of the attention of the waitress (Corinthians), but we will not go back and will not recommend it to our friends or family.

    Our second time here and we will keep coming back! The food is great, especially the Peasant Salad with grilled shrimp and the French Onion Soup. Our server, Angela, was fantastic!!!!

    Food was hot and miss. I don’t usually return food to the kitchen but the salad was overdressed, soggy and salty. The soup of the day, a golden beet soup, was tasteless. Luckily the filet mignon was cooked well. The meal was too expensive. Not worth it. We won’t be back.

    The food was great!!!! But….the bench seats along the wall are so low that I felt like a kid at the dinner table. Forever to get a drink order in and then a long time to finally get the bottle of wine. I don’t understand why service was so bad when there was only three tables. I’ll go back because the food was excellent.

    We came in around 7:30 pm and there were hardly any people there. Our waitress was outstanding and informative regarding the menu. I got the feeling that it was the end of a long day for the chef and not a lot of effort was put into the dishes. The dishes had potential, but seemed old and the final leftovers. My tart was burned on the bottom.

    We were looking for a new restaurant to try and stumbled upon Cafe La Vie. It is located in Le Meridien hotel in downtown Clayton, MO, so we weren't sure what to expect as there are mixed reviews. It is indeed a "hotel restaurant." The food was good, but nothing special. The prices make it seem more upscale, but they are upcharged due to it being a hotel restaurant. The service was slow, due to our waiter being the only one seeing tables, but he did a fantastic job!

    Service was perhaps affected by holiday weekend, though room was not crowded, but was spotty at best. Significant delays at all points in evening. Scallops were initially undercooked, then were returned overcooked. No bread served w/ mussels appetizer, and took a long time to arrive when requested. Overall food and drinks were maybe above average, but much attention needs to be paid to consistency of service

    This was THE worst! To call this French cuisine is an insult. The restaurant has nerve. The coq a vin and cassoulet was as bad as dog food. They need to just serve American food. Forget the French. It was a waste of money. Our server was the silver lining. She was a class act. She was very appropriate fir a terrine dining experience

    Can’t say I’ll ever be back or recommend this place again. Took us 10-15 mins to get drinks when the restaurant wasn’t even half full. Buffet was missing food or had the scraps leftover when we went to get food. Another waitress decided it was time to vacuum the dining room when we were in the middle of eating. And took another 35 mins for the waiter to come back and give us our bill/allow us to pay. Pretty poor performance on Thanksgiving.

    We were a part of the early diners. As a result, we experienced the confusion of new hires, people with limited English, and not enough servers. However, toward the end of our meal, wait staff and bus people seem to be flowing smoother. The food was delicious but nothing fancy. Two types of meat was served: turkey breast and honey ham. The desert was dissapointing. There was pumpkin pie, a cookie bar made with dark chocolate and some small rouond thing I couldn't quite discern the taste. The self serve area was small and the tops on the warmers were not attached so you really needed someone to help you hold the top. The Cabernet wine we ordered was good. The Thanksgiving meal was a good value for the money.

    The restaurant seem understaffed. The menu was delicious. My halibut was good but overcooked. The waiter was very nice and professional but was the only waitr for the restaurant.
